If I could ban one type of thread from this website…

… It would be one's asking about trousers on flights.

Bearing in mind I've been on here over 20 years, Lived through all the baby pasta, the baby modelling threads and all that crap, that yet this one never dies.

I think it's more than even mother of a bride theme because more people are obsessed with what trousers to wear sitting down for a few hours.
What type of thread always makes you roll your eyes?

(Special points for people who say threats like the one we're on now, very good well done 😃)

Threads about a celebrity encounter but they don’t name the celebrity. Pointless.

MrHankyTheChristmasPoo2 · Today 16:41

Genuinely never seen one of these threads in almost 20 years of using mumsnet! So yabu.

Autumnbootcamp · Today 16:42

Leggings on a plane of course!

I'd ban ones where the OP clearly wishes their stepchildren would just ping out of existence :(

And I've seen a few disguised threads on the royal family board that encourage people to criticise Harry and Meghan, I think some of those OPs are off their rockers. (I have no opinion either way, it's just the weirdly passionate hatred)

lol @GoodkneeBadKnee
also obsessed by the people who are scared of fucking everything
Driving at night

Opening the door

Answering the phone

I’ve noticed a correlation between not going out, not having friends, not annswering the phone, not answering the door, and also advising people to go no contact over the slightest misdemeanour.

Dropping a comment on class into a long running thread it's like setting off a bomb and then running out of there

say oh was on which musical cot toys were best, you'd say oh I find "Row Row Row your boat" very working class and then watch the thread erupt

iCod · Today 16:42

Oh hanky. Say it aint so

Also hate the ones that the title is just two schools that you've never heard of when you don't give a fuck about

"mallory towers or Grange Hill?"

Years ago I used to reply saying that there were serious drug problems in one of them (I'd choose arbitrarily)

Everyone was coked up in Malory Towers. It's the only way that rage-fuelled thug Darrell could have become such a success there. Personally I think Mary Lou was the dealer. It's always the quiet ones, and we all know the real reason she went out to deliver a parcel on a night so terrible she got blown off the cliff.

totk · Today 16:43

Ones in AIBU where the poster knows they're not being unreasonable but trying to score brownie points e.g. AIBU to think racism is wrong?

iCod · Today 16:43

Oh God, this thread is making me laugh so much

I enjoy a flight pants thread, just bought a pair in fact! I do dislike the threads where men are behaving like absolute shits (usually some time consuming hobby) and leaving a woman with a baby/children and SHE'S wondering what SHE can do without rocking the boat. It's giving wet lettuce..see also threads about neighbours acting outrageously but poster won't confront them.

DidIJustHearWhatIThinkYouSaid · Today 16:44

Threads about MIL’s/DIL’s that have the word ‘manipulative’ in them a million times.
Someone could create a spreadsheet to see which thread is the winner 😆

iCod · Today 16:44

I find it's always wise to wear pants on a flight

OP posts:
sherbetlemonade · Today 16:45

All the 'What Plant is This?' threads in which the first and immediate response is from someone who knows diddly squat about gardening but has put the photo through some plant app. Anyone can do that love, and it doesn't mean the plant app is right. Experienced gardener posters are far more likely to be accurate, and that's why the OP started the thread. To ask people.

I could live without the endless class threads too.

Ugh, the “how can you tell if you’re middle class” threads are soul destroying. I’ll never forget one that decided if you had kitchen canisters marked with the word of what was contained within you were essentially a chavvy loser.

OneSnugBear · Today 16:46

Parking ones, especially when the poster moans about a person parking on a public road. IT'S NOT YOUR ROAD!

iCod · Today 16:46

I think I kind of agree with that though, canister wise @FancyPantsThatArentThatFancy

CandyCrushLevel14809 · Today 16:48

haven't read the thread, but I don't care if it's already been mentioned, I will mention again!

"Has anyone got that stomach bug going around?"

"Yes, we have the same thing in our house this week".
"Yes, it whipped round our school last week"

Beekman · Today 16:49

Barely disguised humblebrags, especially about adult kids. Yeah, well done and all that.

One time someone started a thread on here about washing up bowls when really it was just to show off she had two sinks in the kitchen, as if anyone would care.

My favourite one was years ago and it was about where you put the fruit bowl as a class signifier. Lots of "Everyone knows posh people like me have it in the sitting room because they eat lots of healthy fruit", "Ekshelly, you'll find we have it in the kitchen because it's so huge and that is where food belongs, it is chavvy to have it on show elsewhere" and "Well I am a duchess and we just go into whichever of our orchards has what we are looking for and get the maidservant to pull it off the tree after we have selected the one we want" and all that.

Can I take my son into public toilets with me?

EleanorMc67 · Today 16:51

Nincompoo · Today 16:01

Well the answer is always leggings!

I struggle with people who are in the midst of obvious awful health anxiety as I used to suffer from it and worked really hard to overcome it by taking doctors advice and stopping googling! People who are repeatedly told what they need to do to improve their lives and then not doing it trigger me a bit. Sorry that’s a bit heavier than what should I wear or my flight to marbs 😬

I can’t think of anything else I hate seeing but I’ve removed all the boards I have no interest in. My kids are grown, I have. I interest in other peoples pregnancies or their children 😆

Isn't the answer to leggings always NO?!!!
