If I could ban one type of thread from this website…

… It would be one's asking about trousers on flights.

Bearing in mind I've been on here over 20 years, Lived through all the baby pasta, the baby modelling threads and all that crap, that yet this one never dies.

I think it's more than even mother of a bride theme because more people are obsessed with what trousers to wear sitting down for a few hours.
What type of thread always makes you roll your eyes?

(Special points for people who say threats like the one we're on now, very good well done 😃)

All of the troll threads on relationships where the poor ickle woman knows she is being XYZ but needs to STOP or she with Lose Her Husband <faints> - up pop hundreds of posters to say she is indeed being XYZ and lucky to have her poor husband in the first place because she should be doing above and beyond...
I very much doubt these are real women.

iCod · Today 16:29

Oh, I never have anything to do with trans ones or politics ones because actually who cares what strangers on the Internet think

@mondaytosunday I have no idea what nub theory is
Should I google it?

Posts asking whether they should/should not have changed seats on a plane with someone with a child who requested it.

The answers are always the same:

YANBU - you paid for your seat and they didn’t have the foresight to do so…that’s their problem.

OR:

YABU - it’s a CHILD.

The question has been answered a million times already!

I also really love to hate, but also kind of enjoy the ones that read like this:

I am 36. I need a dress for a posh event where everyone's gonna look brilliant, but I don't want to show my arms. My legs are ugly so I can't show those and I'll have my hair tied up in a turban because I don't like that either. I want to spend £2.50 and it must be fuchsia.

OP posts:
iCod · Today 16:32

and back in the day, old Timers might remember, everyone used to recommend horrible fake 1950s dresses that made your tits look like pistons.

hideous.

I've been on Mumsnet since 2004 and I can honestly say that I have absolutely no recollection of ever having seen a thread about trousers on flights! I can only assume that the subject title didn't appeal so I've never clicked on one.

So, out of interest, what are the best trousers to wear on a plane? 😂

AutumnsFinallyHere · Today 16:33

The twice weekly “dogs in restaurants/ parks” thread which appears every few days like it’s never been done before, and quickly descends into nasty and extreme arguments on both sides.

Lifenov86 · Today 16:33

I hate royal family threads. Nothing against them personally but hate threads about them always boring
My favourite ones are also lost passport and starving at the in-laws at Christmas ones ( extra points if the op is a breastfeeding mother)

Wildgoat · Today 16:33

The

is this rude
shoes on or off
how often do you shower
how often do change your bedsheets
I hate all men

threads,

Ones where people end up getting in separate arguments about a different topic in a thread

GoodkneeBadKnee · Today 16:34

Any post where the OP says "Am I the only one who doesn't...", then proceeds to describe a very common activity that they look down on. For example, "am I the only one who doesn't like going out for a drink with friends".
🙄🙄

iCod · Today 16:34

Hello @BeresfordDale you know the ones – comfy joggers for a long haul flight that kind of shit

OP posts:
iCod · Today 16:34

lol @GoodkneeBadKnee
also obsessed by the people who are scared of fucking everything
Driving at night

Opening the door

Answering the phone

WILDGOAt. You are actually the goat, for mentioning the shoes off one

It's like cream or jam on a scone thing, so fucking basic

IronEverything · Today 16:37

Hands down for me it's people who make big long rambling threads with countless replies and excuses because they can't just say no to someone/something.

Yeah, I've got into trouble on occasion when someone starts a thread asking if they are the only person in the world who likes a quiet night in, loves their husband, enjoys reading or whatever, and I replied with something like, "Yes! It's only you! You freak!"

iCod · Today 16:38

OR @GoodkneeBadKnee The ones who go on about how they're lonely and don't like people and have no friends anywhere who could ever for eg sit in the house with one child where they rush to the hospital with another

How do they live?

OP posts:
MissingMeadow · Today 16:38

The men moaning about their wives and asking how they can get more sex.

They always always start off with being reasonable but it ends up being about their mean wives not sleeping with them enough.

These men always do the majority of child rearing and housework despite their busy and important jobs.

It's so tedious.

A lot of the baby name threads - the ones that are do you prefer William or Michael….. how can anyone answer that with anything other than choose the one you like best????!!!! they are normal names and it is personal taste. Asking about William or Wilberforce makes a bit more sense, or indeed is it ok to to call our kid Andrew when our surname is Burnham?

MissingMeadow · Today 16:39

I could live without the endless class threads too.

iCod · Today 16:39

Oh, I love the. "Hello Man here ones."
It's like a sneaky glimpse behind the curtain

Also hate the ones that the title is just two schools that you've never heard of when you don't give a fuck about

"mallory towers or Grange Hill?"

Years ago I used to reply saying that there were serious drug problems in one of them (I'd choose arbitrarily)
