If I could ban one type of thread from this website…

… It would be one's asking about trousers on flights.

Bearing in mind I've been on here over 20 years, Lived through all the baby pasta, the baby modelling threads and all that crap, that yet this one never dies.

I think it's more than even mother of a bride theme because more people are obsessed with what trousers to wear sitting down for a few hours.
What type of thread always makes you roll your eyes?

(Special points for people who say threats like the one we're on now, very good well done 😃)

Just don't read those threads? People have a right to educate their children privately should they wish.

No they fucking don't. They have MONEY. Not a right.
let's judge them into non existence.

I wouldn't ban them as obviously people are usually seeking help but the boards are awash with peri women with ND kids! The only peri I want to hear about is Nandos

😂

@FloorToCeilingWindow stylish cardigan. Oxymoron

What to name their baby. I mean, really.

Thankfully those threads do tend to stay in the correct topic so at least you can hide it. Any that stray outside of that though should be instantly zapped 😁

shrunkenhead · Today 20:41

I'd ban interesting threads from getting banned too! Really annoying when you've invested time and energy in reading and replying only to check it later and poof it's gone! At least let youhave one read through the offending material before it disappears!

EleanorMc67 · Today 20:42

AstonCanKissMyArse · Today 20:06

You should report those to MNHQ.

I'm not sure where @ChocolateCinderToffee has seen those threads, but I can only assume it's on the section of the feminism board that seems to think it's ok to say that all trans people are perverts, wear "woman face", want to molest children, get their kicks from masturbating in M&S's underwear dept, & so on ... but they're not being transphobic of course!

There is no room for nuance or reasoned discussion there. I did try once or twice to comment on some posts, but got sneered at because I was apparently just trying to go along with the patriarchal #BeKind movement & couldn't possibly be a feminist ... (I am a feminist, & if I'm kind it's not because a man has told me to be!!!)

A fake thread or PBP?

gmgnts · Today 20:44

I have noticed that many threads that the OP describes as 'lighthearted' are actually an excuse to have a go at some group that's being stereotyped (stupid husbands that can't do the shopping, that kind of thing). In fact, now I'm getting the bit between my teeth, I'd like to ban any thread that stereotypes groups (Gen Z, teenagers, MILs, etc) and ALSO any thread that encourages PPs to hate on certain people (Which celebrity can't you stand and why?, that sort of thing) and ALSO any thread that goes on about 'nowadays' (e.g. reception children are so unprepared for school nowadays) without any understanding of the recent or distant past. Reception teachers have always complained that their pupils are not ready for school, by the way.

YourWildAmberSloth · Today 20:45

Any thread which suddenly disappears, either because OP doesn't get the responses they expect and throws their toys out of the pram asks for it to be taken down, or where MNHQ announce they are taking it down while they look behind the scenes....

Then you should report those threads. Im not sure why you wouldn't.

Although if you were advocating for dismantling women's sex based rights and couldn't defend your arguments, I imagine that went down like a cup of cold sick...

Actually, posts like this are quite annoying….everyone posts their own opinion not reading what previous posters have said.
It’s a list rather than a conversation

Maybe some of us prefer a list approach.

Let’s have a new board for lists.

BashfulClam · Today 20:46

P&C parking space moaning.

ParsonMaybold · Today 20:46

So many. Threads about bikini waxing, shoes on or off, toilet brushes, made up shite about rows in car parks, P&C spaces, boring AMAs (that’s all of them), goady ‘I’m 28 and I only have £250k saved…’

LindorDoubleChoc · Today 20:52

MrsPapillon · Today 16:20

Any whereby someone is making a huge song and dance about a very trivial, easily-solvable problem that just necessitates them opening their mouths.

Eg. ‘I want to go to Greece on holiday but now DH has mentioned he fancies Gran Canaria and I don’t know what to do”. Have you told him you don’t fancy Gran Canaria and you’ve been looking at Greece? “Erm, no. We haven’t actually had a conversation about it yet”

Well that’s obviously your first port of call. 🙄

Oh yes, these too. So many of them. But if you say to the OP - just open your mouth and say what you want - you get accused of being mean.

They have every right. We don't live under communism (yet!)

The amount of outraged projecting by PPs in response to something pretty niche and clearly not aimed at them. It can be almost like:

OP "ABU to be annoyed at parents who let their kids torture animals"
PP "I'm a parent, are you calling me a twat?"

Along similar lines if a thread goes on long enough, someone will eventually arrive to say with a straight face that someone who is clearly being a dick, is not being a dick...

OP "Last night the local serial killer broke in and cut my husband's head off. ABU to be fuming?"
PP "He probably just wanted to test his new knives. You are a bad neighbour".

SweatyGibbon · Today 21:04

Good one 😂 That poor serial killer just wanted some human contact.

"I'm 6 feet tall and weigh eight stone and I'm considering Mounjaro" 🙄

And the ones who are basically just a 40 page argument as to whether Mounjaro ‘takes the work out of it’ !!

In the interests of balance, there's been threads by H&M superfans which are a bit odd. Perhaps it's the topic, more polarising than shoes on/shoes off.

Not really balanced though, is it?

Drivesmescarlet · Today 21:16

People dealing with everyday life challenges who are “spiralling” and desperate to jump on the MH bandwagon and find something they can be diagnosed with with. Anxiety, OCD, ADHD being particular favourites. Where were their MH issues when there was horrendous stigma and prejudice about anyone with psychiatric illness?

Of course they have a right to spend their money as they wish, just as you have the right to judge them for it.

BogRollBOGOF · Today 21:18

A sister of the "what do I buy in Aldi/ Lidl?" threads is the IKEA version.

Surely buy what you need/ really want? There's no point in buying stuff for the sake of stuff.

Plus there's a website to get ideas in advance if it's a rare and novel outing rather than asking strangers with no context.

Perhaps "balance" is the wrong word to apply to any of these threads.
