If I could ban one type of thread from this website…

… It would be one's asking about trousers on flights.

Bearing in mind I've been on here over 20 years, Lived through all the baby pasta, the baby modelling threads and all that crap, that yet this one never dies.

I think it's more than even mother of a bride theme because more people are obsessed with what trousers to wear sitting down for a few hours.
What type of thread always makes you roll your eyes?

(Special points for people who say threats like the one we're on now, very good well done 😃)

The lost or out of date passport when the holiday is imminent......zero planning....

And all the click-baiting urgency, thread title HELP please reply NOW!!!

no sorry, lack of planning on your part does not constitute any sense of urgency on mine,

Also been here for 18 years and never seen a trousers on flight thread Grin

My pet hate is any thread that refers to brigades. As in "I know this won't be popular with the gentle parenting brigade..."

Mentioning brigades and lumping people into one because it suits your narrow world view just seems like an efficient way of announcing that you're fairly intolerant of differing opinions and incapable of seeing things from someone else's point of view.

Bloody brigades indeedGrin

Oh my God, yes, the 'brigades'. I take back all my other posts; this is what I'd ban. Lazy, smug thinking.

deplorabelle · Today 21:30

Where the OP makes a small grammatical error, spelling mistake or perceived Americanism and there are just hundreds of posts ripping her apart for it instead of engaging with what she's said.

Transphobia dressed as feminism

Orthorexia and other food nonsense

Pretending to be appalled/confused at the idea of eating in front of the telly or not having a dining table.

ReadingSoManyThreads · Today 21:33

Every thread where the poster refers to themselves as "myself". "Myself and DH...", Myself, myself myself...drives me fucking nuts.

And the ones where people think they bring a house and didn't buy it. It's BOUGHT, not BROUGHT!

Those and AMA threads.

SabrinaBricklayer · Today 21:34

iCod · Today 20:40

No they fucking don't. They have MONEY. Not a right.
let's judge them into non existence.

The money gives them the right to choose though.

The ones where a mumsnetter is ‘baffled’ - and it’s usually about a very tedious issue.

Also when I get v invested in a thread and then the op never comes back, and I wanted to know if they are ok/left their husband/confronted their neighbour etc etc. would love more OPs to come back to threads after a while, to say how they are getting on.

CleverlyBeery · Today 21:38

Threads where people just repeat facts from the OP as if the OP hadn't just posted them.

"My mum broke my favourite teacup, should she buy me a new one?"

"It's a teacup, OP"
"She's your mum, OP"

mumumental · Today 22:03

Any that end “I don’t know why I’m posting this”.

iCod · Today 22:06

@SabrinaBricklayer and then we have all that's wrong with it

Anyway, back to the thread

"It's a teacup, OP"
"She's your mum, OP"

And then "I wish my mum was still here to smash my belongings"

vitahelp · Today 22:14

Any thread about cyclists, I’m not one so it isn’t because it is offensive but it is just such a boring argument that people never tire of having.

There are often threads where the OP is constantly mistaken for someone 29 years younger, and there follows 100s of posts from middle aged women who claim to pass as teenagers. Sometimes weirdly specific "I'm 49, but people tell me I look 32".
It's bizarre.

Ooooh, that really winds me up. 😆 No-one looks more than 5 years younger than their age in real life, not when you look at them properly. And no middle aged woman in her mid 40s is getting mistaken for a woman in her 20s. Ain't happening!

Lilypad34 · Today 22:23

Threads where the op writes a lengthy post and others then quote that post over and over making you scroll for ages. So unnecessary just @ the op!

BadlydoneHelen · Today 22:27

Any situation where someone is spiralling

please post on the relevant board

OP "Last night the local serial killer broke in and cut my husband's head off. ABU to be fuming?"
PP "He probably just wanted to test his new knives. You are a bad neighbour".

I genuinely burst out laughing reading that!

No! It's madly delusional.

The ones where posters start having their own personal punch- ups with other posters that keep popping up throughout the thread, and end up having nothing to do with the topic. Oh and......often several separate sets of punch-ups going on within the same thread. 🤣

There's an ongoing ding-dong on the thread about eating cornflakes in Europe. Something to do with you have less of a cultural experience if you have that for breakfast.

And who is guessing these womens ages anyway? Or are the 'I'm 44 and people say I look 26' posters saying to people 'hi, I'm Kate, I'm 44, I don't look it do I?' OR 'hi I'm Kate, guess my age, go on go on, guess guess guess.....' Then people are just being polite and knocking a decade off?

Or are they just making shit up??? 😆

Fortuity · Today 22:55

The competitive hygiene threads, where everyone competes with each other to show how fantastically clean they and their houses are, regardless of environmental cost. It's usually accompanied by piling on some unfortunate who has dated to admit that she doesn't wash her towels every day or similar stupidities.

I think a lot of people kid themselves. It's just such common thread subject though.

There's a website, I forget the address but it might be linked to that "how pretty am I" thing that literally needs you to place lines on your face because it can't actually "see" you, which guesses your age and is either absolute shite at it or has been programmed to knock ten years off at least. There was a thread on here once about it and everyone was getting results around 15 years younger than they were. I tried it and it gave me the same shite. Wasn't even a flattering, unrealistic photo, it was very honest. Depressingly so, in fact.

I wonder if it's to blame.
