… It would be one's asking about trousers on flights.

Bearing in mind I've been on here over 20 years, Lived through all the baby pasta, the baby modelling threads and all that crap, that yet this one never dies.

I think it's more than even mother of a bride theme because more people are obsessed with what trousers to wear sitting down for a few hours.
What type of thread always makes you roll your eyes?

(Special points for people who say threats like the one we're on now, very good well done 😃)

Any thread involving SEND the rate mumsnet is going. It's fucking horrible.

NattyPeachBalonz · Today 17:03

Stealth boasts, or any type of boasting. What's the point in doing it, as no one knows you?

They appear with tedious regularity. All these posters who want to look "stylish" at airports and on flights. Nobody looks stylish at airports or on flights. It's a completely pointless question.

Wear something that isn't tight fitting , with layers that can be removed or added for temperature control , and that you don't care if it gets crumpled or food or drink split on it.

I did actually once see a woman dressed very stylishly in the queue for passport control somewhere in the UK. Sort of comfortable and casual, and yet really funky and nice. I couldn't take my eyes off her and was toying with the idea of congratulating her, but our paths never crossed.

I'm another one who's never seen a thread about what to wear on a flight! I suppose I avoid the fashion threads as I haven't a clue.

I have no idea why anyone would put fruit in their living room

Ones by women having to sub ‘partner’ money before the end of the month, pay for XYZ because he is paying off debt to his mum/council tax/ last years holiday; and whether they are overthinking their relationship and being unreasonable to feel like they’re giving too much 🫠

TFImBackIn · Today 17:05

Personally I get really annoyed at the women who have such a cavalier attitude to the chance of pregnancy, so they get pregnant with some idiot they've just met, or with someone who's already proved himself to be a really shit partner and parent. Stop fucking whining and use proper contraception!

WildlyInappropriate · Today 17:06

There’s been a recent slew of threads beginning ‘I’m 14 and a half, I’ve only got half a million in savings and my pension is predicted to be £50k a month. I’m nervous I might not be doing ok for my age.’ That sort of common or garden twattery is equally maddening and amusing, especially if some naughty poster goes against the grain and expresses doubts…

Unfair inheritance.
Life's unfair, testator has made a decision, get over it.

Sunshineandoranges · Today 17:08

Threads where the word naice is used.

OsfameronTanamoril · Today 17:08

The ones where the OP says "AIBU to not want any friends because all women are bitchy and nasty? My husband is my best friend."

Cadeaukatze · Today 17:08

Mum2Fergus · Today 16:16

Every AMA thread.

Agreed. The people who post them must be so self-absorbed as a pp said.

I've never seen a post about wearing trousers on flights. I mean, I do, but that's because I don't tend to wear skirts/dresses at any other time, so wouldn't on a flight either.

Either the 'how old do you think I am' ones or 'how old do you think my child is from their drawing/writing '. Utter tedium. I do scroll by but just why?

Absolutely.

Ugh, the “how can you tell if you’re middle class” threads are soul destroying. I’ll never forget one that decided if you had kitchen canisters marked with the word of what was contained within you were essentially a chavvy loser.

I remember that one. I live with a dementia patient, so not only do I have clearly labelled canisters, but my bins and cupboards also have labels (it’s that or constantly picking teabags out of the recycling bin) so we are extra ultra-chavtastic. Come to think of it, we do have a Sports Direct mug full of biros, so I guess it’s all over for us anyway 🤣

Dontcallmescarface · Today 17:09

The ones where the OP has an overcomplicated drama with friends/family asks what they should do/say and after 900 posts of the most obvious thing, comes back with "oh no I couldn't possibly do that".....Why bother to ask then?

One recently that said 'yes I know how babies are made but I didn't think it'd happen from just one time' 🤔

Ones containing errant apostrophes, terrible spelling and bad grammar.

Tedious threads where the OP never returns.

Threads containing repeated use of 'brought' when 'bought' is meant. They do NOT mean the same thing.

Edited

For some reason it massively irritates me when OPs post a statement as a title, and then stick a question mark on the end.

Stuff like “Neighbour trashed my car?”. I always think “Well, you know whether they did better than anyone, why are you asking us?”.

cartagenagina · Today 17:10

The ones where certain posters will manage to shoehorn identity politics into any bloody thread.

It could be about Cornish Pasties and you come back a few hours later and it’s another trans bashing thread.

Newcybrown · Today 17:12

AIBU posts where the OP wont actually listen if they are BU. Why ask the question then if youre so sure you are right??

YachtMistress · Today 17:13

Loving this thread, perfect for a Sunday afternoon.
For Starters:

  1. Use of the word gotten (Aaaaargh). Please. Stop.
  2. Parking threads with no diagram from the start.
  3. Lack of punctuation.

Spookily, I wore wide legs jeans on a long haul flight recently. It was unexpectedly great. They are loose fitting and high waisted.

Please tell me what AMA means.

ThatCyanCat · Today 17:14

There's been so many of them, like the influx of a certain type of "come now" male poster, that it's obviously organised and coming from somewhere. Reddit is my guess but I don't know. They all sound like they came out of the same respawn point in 1995.

mumumental · Today 17:15

The ones doing covert advertising, whether it’s for a product, a brand or a political party.

WildlyInappropriate · Today 17:15

It’s very uncharitable of me, but as a veteran of the conception and infertility boards and now installed on the MNers without Children board, I think I’m entitled to nominate all those fecking ‘line eyes’ threads which are PATENTLY negative and there’s just no ambiguity about it. I really don’t need to see yet another pissy stick which you must, in real life, be able to see has no line.

And whenever you mention this pattern in passing on any other thread, like this, it takes about minus 10 seconds before they pop up calling you a handmaiden who doesn't care about women's rights.

Naurrr · Today 17:16

@YachtMistress Ask Me Anything, there's a topic for it

SleepingisanArt · Today 17:17

Threads which start with 'How are we wearing', 'How are we styling' or 'what are we wearing this season'.... I am obviously wearing a red lip which I've styled with an orange pant..... Sorry I'm going to scream! When did you become we? 😭
