If I could ban one type of thread from this website…

iCod · Today 15:55

… It would be one's asking about trousers on flights.

Bearing in mind I've been on here over 20 years, Lived through all the baby pasta, the baby modelling threads and all that crap, that yet this one never dies.

I think it's more than even mother of a bride theme because more people are obsessed with what trousers to wear sitting down for a few hours.
What type of thread always makes you roll your eyes?

(Special points for people who say threats like the one we're on now, very good well done 😃)

I wouldn’t ban any subject but I would inflict a lifelong ban on anyone who doesn’t update us.

The ones that start

A woman at my work, let’s call her Jane, was going on holiday with her 3 friends, let’s call them Gemma, Nina and Sue.
Sue wanted to bring her husband, let’s call him Archie. But Archie insisted Nina’s husband, let’s call him George, came to keep him company…………..

I can just tell it’s going to be far to complicated for me!

Valerie267 · Today 20:13

Anything about Harry and Meghan.

Long posts where the OP gives everyone names "My sister, let's call her Jane" and then the story goes on forever, introducing more and more characters. They are never worth reading.

iCod · Today 20:13

"Let's call him"

ANY. OF. THOSE.

Yep. And you just know that there are two high end cars up the path and nothing in the fridge !!

In my day we called that "fur coat and no knickers" 😂

I always though royal fans were a bit eccentric but essentially pleasant and harmless people. Until the advent of Harry and Meghan that is. A switch seemed to flip and a sizeable chunk of these royal fans turned into proper fruitcakes. Truly unhinged in their hatred of them.

(Not a fan of any of the royals just not able to get my head around the Very Big Emotions some posters have for these people)

Zombie thread stupid!!!! "

That type of poster annoys me the last time I saw that was recently, the thread was two weeks old when I checked. Two weeks is not a zombie thread.

lljkk · Today 20:20

Moaning. All the "let's moan together" threads.

2nd nomination is men-hating threads... but banning threads with the purpose of "let's moan together" would remove a lot of the man-bashing threads, too.

I don't know - it can be, if an OP was asking whether they were BU about a birthday party that evening and someone chips in with advice three weeks later.

RUDizzy · Today 20:23

Wedding guest dress recommendation threads in S&B. Pages and pages of links to eye wateringly expensive cloth sacks. No good ever comes of them.

On a more sober note, all the threads where racists pretend not to be racist by asking a really racist innocent question. Just fuck off.

familyissues12345 · Today 20:25

For me, it’s when someone will write an initial post, then someone will jump on it announcing how it must be this, it must be that (often not the case), then other posters will then jump on the back of those theories - going off on a tangent, with no relevance to the initial post. They drive me nutty.

As an example - OP - I’ve got a dog, he gets anxious and chews our sofa, we’re worried about him! Poster - Oh I bet you leave him all day don’t you? There’s no excuse for it, no wonder he’s anxious! Another poster - Oh I can’t believe OP leaves them all day, have you considered a doggy daycare??

You get my drift..

Yes, this. On the odd occasion that I accidentally look at a royal family thread, because its trending and I hadn't noticed that it was from the batshit rf forum, I've been freshly astonished by the H&M madness 😳

“I have chest pain shall I go to A&E?”

“My neighbour wants me to take her kids to school everyday because I work from home. How do I say no?”

“I’m looking for a stylish cardigan”

“I don’t want my in-laws to visit my newborn for 5 weeks but husband is upset that my mum is here to help me”

“We both earn 5 hundred million a year but struggling to pay the mortgage, Tarquin & Arrabellas premium public school and clubs, our ponies and the upkeep of my husbands “hobby” which is cycling trips through the Swiss alps every month”

Southern schools threads e.g Edmonton Girls ( made up) its just very twee and privileged. Not the norm for most people. Very niche ignorant bubble.

Just don't read those threads? People have a right to educate their children privately should they wish.

In the interests of balance, there's been threads by H&M superfans which are a bit odd. Perhaps it's the topic, more polarising than shoes on/shoes off.

Skippydoodle · Today 20:35

Please, please just fuck off

BoredZelda · Today 20:35

Any opening post that is more than a couple of short paragraphs, providing so much detail “for context” when actually none of it is at all relevant.

Any post with “let’s call her Annie”

I always assume both if these types of post are utter bollocks.

"I'm 6 feet tall and weigh eight stone and I'm considering Mounjaro" 🙄

shrunkenhead · Today 20:37

I wouldn't ban them as obviously people are usually seeking help but the boards are awash with peri women with ND kids! The only peri I want to hear about is Nandos

ChocHotolate · Today 20:38

Actually, posts like this are quite annoying….everyone posts their own opinion not reading what previous posters have said.
It’s a list rather than a conversation

‘Me, my DH, and our four children been invited to a destination wedding in Australia during term time. The couple don’t live there or have any familial connection to the country but they saw a pretty waterfall when they were backpacking 8 years ago and want to get married next to it. It will cost us £18k and 10 days annual leave.’

Just stop. Don’t fucking go.
