… It would be one's asking about trousers on flights.

Bearing in mind I've been on here over 20 years, Lived through all the baby pasta, the baby modelling threads and all that crap, that yet this one never dies.

I think it's more than even mother of a bride theme because more people are obsessed with what trousers to wear sitting down for a few hours.
What type of thread always makes you roll your eyes?

(Special points for people who say threats like the one we're on now, very good well done 😃)

OP posts:

Only post I've ever seen about trousers on a plane is this one

thisoldcity · Today 19:05

One of those competitive ones about how often you should wash your sheets, towels, clothes etc, where lots of people say they wash everything every day even if they have barely touched it and the others turn up and say they never ever wash anything, ever, unless their child has actually vomited on it. I end up reading them every time and then kick myself.

I read a thread yesterday which made me feel sick, about 'what petty things have you done to get back at someone..'. Most replies weren't petty humorous things, they were gross awful things. That weren't funny in their pettiness, but were grim and a bit sad. So I don't like those sort of self congratulatory (for no apparent reason) threads.

Some were definitely things I wouldn't do (although maybe justified) but there were some really fun ones as well.

Any reverse. The poster should be banned.

Bring as an alternative to take is derived from Irish
(Gaeilig) grammatical rules rather than English or American ones. It’s standard in Ireland.

But English people always think they are right about grammar.

There are often threads where the OP is constantly mistaken for someone 29 years younger, and there follows 100s of posts from middle aged women who claim to pass as teenagers. Sometimes weirdly specific "I'm 49, but people tell me I look 32".
It's bizarre.

AMarkAMissionABrandAScar · Today 19:08

People who accidentally wander into Style and Beauty and answer a thread saying "Is this dress outdated?" with "Wear what you want! Who decides what's in fashion anyway! I've got 2 t-shirts with yellow pitstains and I'm fine!"

People having a massive drama about very little. 🙄

I’m not sure there’d be many posts left on mumsnet if these were gotten rid of 😂

Rosscameasdoody · Today 19:11

‘Am I an alcoholic’. If you drink more than a thimbleful of cream sherry every Tuesday then yes. Yes, you are.

It’s definitely the not-so-stealthy brags about money that get to me. All wide-eyed and ingenuous, “I’m so worried that after Tarquin and Jocasta’s school fees are paid and we’ve had our annual holidays in Val d’Isere and The Maldives, we’ll only be able to save £2000 a month… We still have a £250,000 buffer in our savings, is this enough?”

009395elj · Today 19:12

I am worried that we are going to struggle financially when we retire…we will only have £10,000 a month …Will we manage? Mortgage fully paid etc .
Humble bragging at its finest !

I do enjoy them! Did you read the one where a woman took her 12 year old daughter to the doctor, and the doctor thought she was the patient?! 😂

There ain't nothing humble about that!

I think I kind of agree with that though, canister wise @FancyPantsThatArentThatFancy

I'm on the fence! Mine are about 58 years old, do have words on them but the contents don't match the words, what does that make me? I'll not sleep if I don't get put in my place correctly before I turn in.

AutumnalGlory · Today 19:18

Mum2Fergus · Today 16:16

Every AMA thread.

Agreeing with this - so many of them are “AMA” and the poster buggers off and barely bothers answering! They also avoid answering the more awkward questions so what’s the point? 🤷‍♀️
The “I hate cats / dogs hamsters, rats whatever” … these threads crop up so often and quickly turn unpleasant. It’s such a personal choice that it really is pointless starting them as there’s never a right or wrong answer.
Women on here allowing themselves to be manipulated by partners / DHs, PiL, (MIL particularly) for heavens sake, grow a pair and push back!! Find your voice, use it! Nobody will die if you start saying “ No, that doesn’t work for me, No thank you, Sorry, I can’t do that etc. Life will go on, I promise you!

Cucurella · Today 19:18

The ones where people talk about their DH's hobby but won't say what it is.

@iCod … It would be one's asking about trousers on flights.

I'm quite recent and there are trousers on planes ones, here are a few:

Trousers for long haul flight

planes still freezing cold? It'll be mid-September. I plan to wear thermal leggings under trackie bottoms

Recommendations for comfortable cotton travel trousers for a long-haul flight

Would you wear your pjs on a plane?

But English people always think they are right about grammar.

That probably balances how the English are constantly constantly in the wrong about everything else!

Emeraldforest · Today 19:20

The ones that make you feel sordid if you arent showering 3 times a day or changing your sheets twice a week, who has the time?

iCod · Today 19:22

Love the outing hobbies

OP posts:
Greenmouldycheese · Today 19:22

Threads about social class and people obviously obsessed with keeping up with the Jones'.

TheBabyFatmoss · Today 19:23

The dog hating frothers who are constantly being harassed / attacked by dogs, do they all dress like Little Red Riding Hood or something? Also the women who do a pregnancy test two and a half minutes after they’ve had sex and ask if you can see a line. Why don’t they just wait till their period is late?

We probably are right about grammar. In the English language at least.
