Facebook holiday bores.

What do you think of people who are suffering from main character syndrome when they are on holiday.
The everyday updates on what they are doing and 53 photos. 53.

Taking the phone in the sea and doing a selfie so we can see what they look like in the sea.

It's like some people can't relax anymore unless they are broadcasting every day for validation.

I’m not against sharing on facebook. I like
looking at other people’s lives and if I do something exciting I like to share it. I’m just not kidding myself.
It’s not creating some sort of memory time capsule (your phone or a photo album
can do that). It’s not so my family can see the photos (I could just send them directly or have my settings so only family members can see the post). It’s showing off that the end of the day and that’s part of human nature!

It is doing exactly that! It creates a memory time capsule and every few days you get a reminder of what you were doing x amount of years ago, imo its the best bit about FB, only this morning I forwarded a FB memory to my daughter from 14 years ago that we never would have relived without this amazing time capsule that we all hold in our hands 🥰

On my own holiday I am the main character and I will do what I want. You on your holiday mind your business and you do you

No it's slightly different. I'm talking about the people who obsessively post crap every day and blow by blow accounts of their holiday too.
It usually goes hand in hand. They can't stop home and away.
I'm at the airport and pictures
I'm in the plane picture in the plane
We've arrived and picture.
That's before you start the daily holiday posts.
Then on the way back the same. and the post now we are home.
Just go away and get a life thinking your so important.

If you can't go a day in your life without documenting everything then you need help.

I think you need help for your rage about what other people do

Packofsix · 09/10/2026 17:21

Netcurtainnelly · 08/10/2026 17:35

Even if I did they would still do it.
Most of its not remotely interesting.

We need to ask why people feel the need to post everything online for likes.

We don’t need to ask as it is their decision and not your business. And if you are not looking then why would you care? This has to be a rage bait post

fidsk · 09/10/2026 17:36

The worst photos for me are ones of people by the poolside, sitting on their balcony and nothing outside the hotel complex.

They can be anywhere

Karenandfour1 · 09/10/2026 17:51

I love seeing my friends having a wonderful time and enjoying themselves .

Toooldtocare25 · 09/10/2026 18:03

I agree people are too self absorbed. I watched a family at the beach set up what seemed to be a nice family day at the beach with young children and older kids. They did a couple of games which they filmed and once that was finished stopped recording and left. It was all just “look how much fun we are having” video opportunity. I felt for the young kids , never seen anything so ridiculous. Instead of actually enjoying people are too busy making it look like they are.

I didn’t realise people still used Facebook!

It wouldn’t be something I would do, but maybe they find it a way to share pictures with family etc.? You aren’t obliged to look through all of them!

Lots of people still do

Daisyb1080 · 09/10/2026 18:29

I love seeing people’s pictures. If I don’t want to then I don’t look. It’s their life so why not be the main character.

AgileMentor · 09/10/2026 18:33

I do all of the above. Even check in at the airport. Makes it even more fun when it makes people like you seeth with jealousy.

CocoPops39616 · 09/10/2026 18:38

I like seeing holiday pictures and families having fun, sometimes I flick through and think it’s an interesting destination to put on my list of places to think about visiting.

Middleagedspreadisreal · 09/10/2026 18:49

I like to see them, and I like to post them. Each to their own and life's too short to judge

AuntyRosie9 · 09/10/2026 20:12

That’s why I have come off FB. People are really annoying. I take a look at it every now and then but the same people are still there and are still as annoying. Take a break from FB. Your life will be more peaceful.

If your only fling it for yourself you can set your posts to only me.

Just click 👍 if you’re bothered and scroll on?

LightningTree · 09/10/2026 20:45

I always think that some people are so obsessed with documenting their holidays that they fail to fully experience them.

Selfseedpoppies · 09/10/2026 21:11

QuietComet · 09/10/2026 08:42

You don't know who their intended audience is.

Maybe their mum and aunt want to see this stuff. Maybe they enjoy documenting their lives.

Either way, it's really not up to you to dictate how others use social media. And if you don't care enough about this person to be excited for them, then unfollow or unfriend.

Agreed. Most of the time when I post it's for the benefit of my parents and in-laws. If other friends like it great. If they don't, nobody is making them look at my photos. As far,as I can see the biggest problem is people being FB 'friends' with people they don't know or don't like. I know and like everyone I'm 'friends' with.

I highly doubt anyone would do this. The vast majority of people I see at any place of interest are enjoying their day, maybe taking the odd photo or video as a record if their time. Me and my family love looking back at photos of earlier times so always make a point of taking photos/video whenever we're doing something fun, are somewhere interesting or are with friends or family. Especially grandparents won't be around forever and we'll really value the videos and photos when they're gone. It really has nothing to do with you what others choose to do. Maybe enjoy your day instead of judging others?

I love holiday photos on FB, I not very good at taking photos so hardly post, but i do enjoy looking at others, I never understand people moaning about people they are supposed to like posting about their life.

This.

I love a good snoop at other people's holiday pics.

JaceLancs · 09/10/2026 21:23

Facebook passed me by completely - I use Instagram for posting pictures of stuff including holidays but only allow close friends and family
They can pass me by and im not offended

BluebellBeth · 09/10/2026 21:25

Isn't that what Facebook is designed for though? Just don't look at the 53 pics if you're not interested.

100%.

If I wouldn't look forward to a coffee with them, they're not a friend in FB

Netcurtainnelly · 08/10/2026 17:26

Yes. Agree . They bote you everyday home and away. Get help.

You sound like you have no life to be honest! You are staring at Facebook and seething at lives that seem better than yours! If you feel hatred for it don't look at it!
My partner and I don't have kids, we like travelling and yes we put photos up of scenery and interesting things we've seen, we aren't selfie obsessed so it's not pictures of us. We post pretty much nothing on Facebook the rest of the time! There are people in our life that like looking where we've been and getting travel inspiration from it because we tend to go to the more unusual places.

It's not up to you what people post and you really do come across as jealous and miserable!

Umbrella15 · 10/10/2026 09:03

Just come off Facebook, if you dont like peoples photos, or dont look at them. Isnt that the point of Facebook ?. You sound very miserable and jelous op.
