I think they need to build more prison space. Nothing fancy. Shipping containers would do like box parks, but multistory. No, I don’t particularly care about their environment, or their rehabilitation, I just want them put in there, throw some raw meat in every day and treat them like the beasts they behave like. Give them a bit of yard time and lots of alone time to think about about how they have seriously fucked up their lives and others.

Put the long timers in there. Give out proper sentencing for violent crimes and child abusers.

Put the rest of the people who blight society in the vacated spaces of the others who are now in shipping containers. Give the domestic abusers and such like proper robust sentencing. Repeat offenders of serious crimes, show them to a shipping containers, theirs for life.

All sounds a big hardcore, but the rest of us, especially the vulnerable, tiptoe through life avoiding situations, and places, and darkness because we are scared of being victims. We are the ones curtailing our lives now, having to put ourselves in prisons to avoid lowlives. Except now, the situations where we have to be on guard grows ever more because the perpetrators are more brazen, because they know justice is soft and women’s lives are cheap now.

To be honest sex offenders, violent offenders and murderers change their names anyway so while that is still legal they are still going to keep offending and avoiding prison.

They do have women's prisons though - albeit they are mainly keeping women with mental health issues in who tend towards violence. I was imagining freeing up a lot of those prisons by freeing women and not having to build new ones.
Thinking on it a bit more I realised that women's prisons probably need to be all over the country so that they can have family visitations.

Agree with @SockPlant violent and sexual offenders should be locked up, all the rest should be doing community labour and cleaning up fly tipping, filling potholes, bin collections and working at the sewage treatment plants that apparently keep overflowing because of lack of oversight.

I was hoping against hope that it was an 'accident' where he pushed her and she fell and hit her head, but this is so savage. And then blaming a burglar!

So knowing someone has no immunity and doing that to them isn't classed as attempted murder? I know if you stop taking heart meds (often men do stop just to keep erections despite risk of death) and someone startles you, knowing or not knowing you had heart problems they could potentially be up for murder if you fall down dead. This guy was doing this deliberately and with intent! His previous actions show his hatred of her.

How are we enablers? Surely we can have the ability to see that not all men are evil, violent thugs who abuse women, whilst also still acknowledging that their are men, yes too many men, that do.

An average of 150 women are killed by men each year. Plus 45 children per year are killed by men.
Father's and stepfather are responsible for up to 85% of parental child murders.

There are evil women too though who need to be thrown in the 'shipping containers' - murderers, persistent offenders, thieves, sex offenders, child abusers......

They are all just as bad as the violent men - there are just not as many in proportion

I think due to the issues in prisons at the moment - and how difficult it is to get people in there - 99% of inmates (male & female) need be there as they are a blight on normal society. So I wouldn't just free people or make special treatment so they can be close for family visits.
