The Green Party are an unelectable bunch of extreme soundbites and not environmental at all

The Green Party are more and more extremist. The latest is that supporting the right to Jewish self determination (Zionism) is now racist.

The Green Party are a million miles from the Green Party I voted for years ago. Now full of men that think they are women, accusing people that believe in self determination for their own people as racist. They appear unable to see the division and racism of their own party. Many antisemitic tweets from their members over the last few years.

The Green Party are long gone to a bunch of extreme individuals with not a chance of being elected party.

The vote has caused divisions among figures at the top of the party at its conference in Brighton.

As Ali noted, the key context for this vote is the heavy Palestinian death toll and the massive, devastating destruction of lives in Gaza and Palestine. For the members who voted for it, this wasn't an attack on British Jews, but a direct response to that ongoing catastrophe—using policy to stand in solidarity against what they view as severe oppression and to call for equal human rights for everyone on that land.

Sorry, but this explanation doesn't add up.
It makes no sense to question the basic right of Jewish self-determination and proclaim it ‘racist' based on the death toll of a war that Israel did not start.

I very much doubt that what Hamas had in mind when they launched their horrific attack on October 7th were ‘equal human rights for everyone on that land’.

Why didn't they include an "Islamism is racism" vote then? There have been far more deaths and destruction under the banner of "Islamism" (political Islam), with minimum 30,000 civilians murdered by the genocidal Islamic regime in Iran this year alone, let alone the hundreds of thousands of civilians murdered in places like Sudan by the Arab Janjaweed, and the hundreds of thousands of Christians slaughtered in Nigeria, all by Islamist ideology, all because they were either considered infidels or because in Sudan they are non-Arab Africans. The scale of destruction in Sudan is so massive it can be seen from space, not to mention the thousands of yearly deaths caused by terrorist attacks all over the world in the name of this political ideology!

A very good question.

Do you think? Jew hate is very fashionable at the moment.

I think - well I know - the wording of the Green’s motion has turned some of their own members off. Sagal Abdi-Wali has a track record running local government in area. 1797 Jewish voters in that constituency. I kind of felt the aeroplane incident might sway people into understanding the threat facing Israel too. I’m not a Green voter, I’m afraid I think it’s a waste of time voting for little parties under current system but used to think I’d support Green’s working with labour but they seem to have lost their way, just when we needed steering on Green matters. I know of a Green member who believes the party has been infiltrated. They look shambolic now. I appreciate feelings about Palestinians run high, I’m desperate for a change for the innocent people there. But the way the Greens have worded their motion makes them look like some student fringe group. I tend to think those with extreme views shout louder but don’t represent real majority. We’ll see!

I think it would be best for him to be replaced so the Greens can stop pretending they can't be antisemitic because they have a Jewish leader.

Would you believe that there are people here who not only deny that he got parked there to sanitise their antisemitism, but also expect to convince others of it? Someone told me I was being "absurd" to suggest it. I truly believe she thought she sounded credible.

It’s very uncomfortable. Is this the real reason he changed his name to something Jewish sounding? I am really worried that the Greens have been hijacked, whatever “Zionist” may have meant, anyone with a rudimentary understanding of connotation and zeitgeist knows what the word means now.

All parties are different sides of the same coin. But, given a choice between these guys and Reform, I'll take the former.

And for those saying 'they're nothing like they were before '. No political party is. They are all far more extreme; even the 'left'.

It comes as no surprise as society is more extreme.

EmpressOfTheThread · 07/10/2026 05:48

@ByWittyLimePoet- a coin only has rwo sides. There are more than two political parties. The choice isn't Reform or Green, why vote for bigotry, ignorance and extremism?
You have the option to vote Conservative, Labour, Liberal Democrat, or there are usually independent candidates to choose from.
You don't need to vote for a racist candidate.

Twiglets1 · 07/10/2026 06:03

The Green Party has gone too far now in its antisemitism. They made it too obvious.

Hope this is the thing that gives Polanski a humiliating loss in the by election tomorrow 🤞 That will make me very happy.

No one has to make that binary choice so it’s a pointless argument.

But what is the difference between the Green Party abd reform? Both are racist, both have unworkable policies and both hate women.

The Green Party’s new “Zionism is racism” policy is worse than anything that happened under Jeremy Corbyn’s leadership of the Labour Party, the government’s antisemitism tsar has warned.

Lord Mann said: “The Greens are increasingly becoming a sect, which totally contradicts the concept of environmental and ecological politics.

“The way some of their Jewish members and supporters are being treated is something unprecedented in Westminster since the Second World War.”

“It’s well beyond anything ever tried under Jeremy Corbyn. The ultimate irony is the one closest to their policy is Ben Gvir, who also wants one unified state rather than two states,” he added.

The Green Party member behind a motion which declared Zionism to be racism was named in court documents as a "close friend" of a man who was jailed after being accused of plotting a suicide bomb attack at Heathrow Airport.

Lubna Speitan, a British-Palestinian artist, proposed the Green conference motion defining Zionism as an ideology supporting "an ethnonationalist Jewish state".

Court documents from 2015 show she offered to testify as a defence witness in the trial of Minh Quang Pham, who was jailed for 40 years in the US after pleading guilty to supporting al-Qaeda. He denied planning a suicide attack.

I suppose the Greens having not only said the quiet part out loud but written it into party policy makes them at least more honest

I’m shocked at the way they’ve gone. They’re far from the environmental force they purport to be.

They need a change of name - the current one is deliberately deceptive.

Islamic party perhaps?

More concerned with Middle Eastern politics than the environment, or Britain for that matter. Thats not to say the UK shouldn’t turn a blind eye to atrocities throughout the world, but our own political parties should be focusing on our countries real issues.

💯 to the PP who said their name was deliberately misleading.

Only good thing to come out of this is that people are waking up to their real agenda, which is most certainly not the environment!

The party of Islam was denied permission to be a political party

and soon afterwards entirely unrelated, The Greens started increasing their membership. However, as has already been pointed out, most of the people who have joined and supported this motion and have taken over the Greens are White, British, privileged middle class Hard Lefties. I don't know whether they would have been able to get as far as x they have without them. There are 6 million Muslims in this country. Most of them are not hard line. Most Turkish/Kurdish etc are not. ( not to mention the many Iranian political refugees and dissidents who are now in clear danger because of our lax immigration system) That doesn't leave a lot. They are, however being given undue and excessive power by the British Hard Left, Momentum SWP etc who have always been around in some form. It may be why most of Islamist group are keeping their trap shut about gay rights.

'Party of Islam' has bid to become new UK political party rejected

The would-be party's application 'did not meet the requirements set out in electoral law', regulators said.

Greens are a leftist Islamist party . We should all care about that. It did not end well for Iran . And any woman who vote for them is a dangerous deluded fool

Same. So sick of it.

NotAnotherScarf · 07/10/2026 08:05

Strangely there's no one supporting the greens here

Today's news that the bbc have that the proposer is a British Palestinian whose friends are Islamic extremists must convince people not to vote for Zak, real name Dave.

LuckyHazelFox · 07/10/2026 08:13

We know why Islam is racism will never be on the table, as a vote. There would be protests in the streets, turning violent. Speaking of which, I hope it pisses down all day in Central London.

EmpressOfTheThread · 07/10/2026 09:09

To our Jewish friends on here, I hope you have a peaceful day today 🙏🏼.
Thinking of you all on the anniversary of that dreadful atrocity. 🕯️

It’s an extremist Islamic party in a leftist Trojan horse. It’s not possible to be both an Islamist and left wing, the two are diametrically opposite.

Do people realise they also voted down an amendment that said Jewish members would still be allowed to attend synagogue (since you would be hard pressed to find one that wants to destroy the Jewish state) without being victimised? Do people really understand the full on loony racism that POS party now stands for?

If anyone was in any doubt, surely, surely that shows you who they are now?

And these anti Israel marches that absolutely had to happen today of all days, because they don't happen enough the rest of the year. No intelligent and reasonable person can fail to see what's going on here.

Dear god, that's just horrendous. I don't even know why I'm shocked at this stage though.

By any measure the Greens are now an extremist and racist political party.

ThatCyanCat · 07/10/2026 09:31

If it won't allow Jews to go to synagogue without being reported for racism, is it actually even still legal as a political party?
