The Green Party are an unelectable bunch of extreme soundbites and not environmental at all

The Green Party are more and more extremist. The latest is that supporting the right to Jewish self determination (Zionism) is now racist.

The Green Party are a million miles from the Green Party I voted for years ago. Now full of men that think they are women, accusing people that believe in self determination for their own people as racist. They appear unable to see the division and racism of their own party. Many antisemitic tweets from their members over the last few years.

AIBU

The Green Party are long gone to a bunch of extreme individuals with not a chance of being elected party.

A woman takes a photo of sign advertising the Green Party conference.

Green Party members back 'Zionism is racism' conference motion

The vote has caused divisions among figures at the top of the party at its conference in Brighton.

During WW2 only the governments of Denmark, Bulgaria, Finland and Albania actively protected their Jewish residents by refusing to co-operate with their German occupiers.
In every other occupied country (whilst some ordinary people hid jews) the local administrations actually assisted the occupying Nazis to implement their anti-Jewish decrees and exportations (including in the Channel Islands), some with great enthusiasm.

As a result approx. 95% of Danish jews survived the war whilst 95% of Lithuanian jews died.
With the Green Party's new motion it's becoming easier to understand how Governments could have allowed it to happen and how it could happen again.

This actually reminds me of a sweet story I once read:
Häagen-Dazs was founded by a Polish-Jewish immigrant couple in New York.
Apparently, they came up with a made-up word for their brand name because it sounded vaguely Danish, to honor Denmark's record of protecting and rescuing its Jewish population during World War II.

There are many similarities. People seem to forget the Nazis were a socialist party, not right wing.

Scary times. Where else does a political party's Jewish members have to have a sade room at their own political conference??! Why the hell are they still Green members beggars belief.

The Nazis were not socialists. They were far right fascists. They used socialist in their name only to attract support from left wingers. Once they seized control they promptly banned left wing parties.

The Green Party, too, is not a socialist party.

Didn’t the phrase come from the soviets who were the originators of the elders of zion nonsense.

Plus a one state solution would just result in a lot of dead people, I’m not sure which side would win frankly but nonetheless a lot of dead people.

It did indeed come from the Soviet Union, that famous paragon of human rights:

The campaign behind UN Resolution 3379 originated as a strategic geopolitical initiative spearheaded by the Soviet Union and officially sponsored by the Arab League alongside several Muslim-majority nations.

The Soviet Union first laid the groundwork for the resolution a decade earlier. In 1965, during negotiations for the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination, the USSR formally introduced an amendment attempting to explicitly couple Zionism with Nazism and racism. This was a diplomatic counter-strategy designed to deflect Western criticism of Soviet state-sponsored antisemitism and human rights abuses.

Absolutely. National Socialists.
Scary times indeed.

The key word is National. They were nationalist Fascists.

I lead a pretty stereotypical ‘N London leftie’ life. I don’t know a single person who supports the Greens. What a shame to not have a party dedicated to the environment. And one who chooses abhorrent causes to support. I hope they lose. They are a parody now of themselves.

He’s blown that by election for sure.

If you look at the original 20 point programme, it's a curious mixture of nationalism, racism and quite hardline socialism.
The latter was dropped when they decided they needed the support of businesses.

Do you think? Jew hate is very fashionable at the moment.

How poignant. I never knew that.

I strongly dislike the Greens but even a broken clock is sometimes right. Due credit to them for calling out the Israeli state as complicit in genocide and blatant ethnic cleansing, and their laughable attempts to then tar any reasonable criticism as antisemitic.

LuckyHazelFox · 06/10/2026 20:55

For a minute there I thought I'd wandered onto the CITME board, where genocide has taken on a new meaning.

You might want to rewrite this post. Quite apart from proving that you don't understand the motion, it isn't saying what you think it's saying and is actually kind of funny in what a self-own it becomes. Pesky words, huh?

We shouldn't bite really.

I agree with you, but in all honesty, if people can't read and inform themselves, look at maps or use dictionaries, there's little we can do.

Tell me about it. They've driven many off CITME board, haven't they. There's only so many times you can read the same baseless emotive claptrap spouted by those trying to be on the right side of history. There's going to come a day when the big wake up call will come.

That’s why it’s going to be interesting if Polanski goes because lots of the entryists are TRAs.

Given the very high numbers, I suspect there is a greater percentage of Islamists joining. The TRAs are noisy, but don’t number into many thousands.

It's the level of basic ignorance that gets me. At least try to get facts right, how hard can it be?
I only go on the CITME board to correct erroneous assumptions!

There are enough fuckwit antisemites around the rest of the site, I don't need to check out the respawn point.

Fair point! Although I do like correcting them with dates and events because they can't argue about those!

TempestTost · 06/10/2026 21:24

The structure of Green parties means they are very vulnerable to being taken over by groups who have some special agenda.

I used to be a member in my country and one of the things I really liked was that they were happy to use ideas from any side of the political fence, and question then as well. And we're interested in looking at root causes for issues rather than just band aids, which is a common issue with left wing parties.

Then they were basically inundated by a bunch of exists from the other big left wing parties and their policies became the same as all the rest.

I am not Jewish, but I will be lighting a few candles tomorrow. The people who died at the music festival weren't any sort of Jewish extremists, just fans of electronic dance music. The same sort of people that Polanski had at his Trafalgar Square Gig. I imagine the people at the Nova festival were pro-LGBT rights.

Wasn't it alternative voting? That's not the same thing.

Ah yes you’re right, it was av so not the same thing but a variation of fptp. Even that was voted down.
