I'll start by saying, I am very anti open boarders, and I am horrified that so many illegal immigrants are arriving every day. But for me, it has absolutely nothing to do with skin colour, it is more to do with :

ONE) They have no documentation, and we have no idea if they have criminal backgrounds

TWO) They tend to come from cultures where women are not respected

THREE) They often come from places where rape is not a crime

FOUR) They cannot work, and it is costing Millions to house, feed and clothe them

FIVE) We are granting asylum to some people who should never get it - like the Hamas bodyguard we heard of yesterday

Lots of valid reasons I feel, however, for me, it has nothing to do with skin colour. If I had to be locked in a room overnight with a white man from a backward culture, or a black man from the UK, I would choose the latter, every single time.

But I see that people on the Far Left just scream "Racist" to anyone who opposes illegal immigration. What would they scream, if all the small boats were full of white men? And would people still march for England?

It's not that 'some women' or 'the left' are supporting rape in any shape or form! This retort literally does my head in. Some people just simply do not buy the premise 'Afghan = probably a sex offender.' They know that this is a totally stupid way to think; that propensity to rape is far more nuanced and complex than 'culture;' and they see straight through the cynical 'Reform' propaganda campaign that incites threads like this. Because while people are frothing about immigrants 'raping our women' far greater dangers are hiding in plain sight.

You haven't posed a question, you've made an assumption. You're saying men you don't like don't have women's welfare at heart.

Most people who consider themselves left leaning have the savvy to recognise genuine nuance, and don't call people who have concerns about border control racist.
Indeed, I don't encounter these discussions in real life. I rather suspect that the left versus right 'battle' is largely an online pursuit, and is being fought exclusively online by the most insufferable from both sides of the political divide.

We already know what that certain group (not ‘the left’, I’m left economically) would call it if the boat people were white because they did it when there were complaints about the mass migration of Polish and Romanians etc given us by the treacherous idiot Blair. Racists, same as now. As if people and land don’t go together and have done since even hunter gatherer times let alone farming times. As if it’s perfectly normal for a million people a year to turn up in a fully settled and very overpopulated country (it is not).

And why should Europeans not welcome other Europeans with at least some shared cultural understanding more than a bunch of people from the other side of the world with no cultural understanding nor even basic connection to our environment, especially when those people on the other side of the world with very different cultural ideas conflict so massively with our own, and have no intention of integrating.

People do not have automatic rights to rock up to other countries on the other side of the world and be welcomed and given everything under the sun. This is true now, a hundred years ago, a thousand years ago. I’m sick of the stupidity, double dealing and gaslighting.

and yes the situation in HK is a direct result of British colonialism. Within our lifetimes (or mine, anyway!)!! Not many generations ago, as people like to parrot. At least this one the government kind of took some responsibility for the fallout.

Usually the line is men are vetted, but since you acknowledge that’s not the case it makes it more reasonable to change the system.

Not sure what the impact of colonialism has got to do with women’s ability to make informed judgements… it does have a lot to do with immigration trends, and indeed the history of race rhetoric, though, I’m afraid.

Who's saying they are superior to foreigners? Colonialism is often used to make ordinary every day people feel guilty. You don't need to be afraid of having your opinion, I'm not.

The poorer people of Britain are the ones who were disenfranchised first and chucked into factories, on long hours and low pay, and we have been seeing those times return for the last few decades. Our supposed benefit from cheap labour overseas could equally well be read as our screwing over by the making of cheap crap overseas being dumped on local markets - that is becoming equally obvious now. Some of us wanted fair trade over ‘free trade’, so called, with working plebs around the world.

If you want to give compensation then take the Crown Jewels and the aristo’s descendants’ bloody art works, but the land here was never theirs to take or give. By the way, there are very very few places in the world where Europeans rocked up in their millions to places that were already overpopulated by natives.

All i know is that most of the problems in my life and my kids lives are nothing to do with asylum seekers and everything to do with massive corporations who don’t pay their taxes,billionaires who run the world and a culture of toxicity in young men that’s scary as hell.

Yes. As always, statistics can be manipulated into the sound bites required at the time. For example, we are all going to die at some point, and many of us eat baked beans. QED baked beans must kill you, eventually.

If you read the article I linked to, the majority of incarcerated men who are not British nationals are actually not Afghan at all. And also, it depends on what the comparison is. The reality is that a staggering amount of men both British and otherwise are never actually convicted of anything. The percentage you reference could be over a sample size of 25 people which would be an additional 3 people.

The question I responded to was about asylum seekers specifically where there is a minimal increase in the percentage (1%), and there are several studies referred to including the migration observatory's own that also state that migrants (not just asylum seekers) have no impact on the stats.

Thus, it is necessary to dip into the data a bit in order to understand it and form an opinion, as opposed to quoting a headline. Otherwise nobody will ever buy baked beans again.
