To be disappointed Dolly Parton supported biological men using women's toilets?

I really liked her music and she seemed like a nice person: her Imagination Library came to my borough recently. I was very sad to hear she'd died.
But was very disappointed to read this. The statements she made about trans people deserving respect, no issue with those.
But minimising the reasonable concerns women have about being forced to let men in their toilets was wrong.
I'm not saying she should have spoken out for GC issues. It might have been best just not to comment.
Parton had connections with drag queens and I wonder if that's the lens she saw transwomen through : not an excuse but might partially explain.

With no single sex provision, some women will self exclude. These include very vulnerable women - women who’ve been abused, women following orthodox religious.

Provision already exists for men, in no sense are they being excluded anyway. If gender non conforming men want separate additional spaces for themselves, they should campaign for that.

I’ve been discussing the toilet issue in relation to gender ideology and how important it is to keep women’s toilets, prisons, sports, rape crisis providers female only. In the UK. Because that’s where I live.

It's not a tired trope that there are many people who don't believe in gender, don't believe in trans etc because they are approaching the topic from a bioessentialist or Christian right wing view. It's a reality. There are many self proclaimed men in FWR who also are clear in claiming they are not feminist. That's a reality. There are prominent GC men in online spaces who are veering further right in order to make a living being a troll, that's a reality. You seem to not understand that I haven't called you a bigot so I'm not going to engage with that strawman. I haven't said everyone who is GC is coming from this perspective but to claim all people are motivated by women's rights ain glaringly untrue.

I was speaking specifically as it pertains to Dolly Parton and the OPs disappointment in her and the need to try and somehow change dolly’s belief to match her own. She believed trans women were women. Whether the OP or you agree with that is entirely moot. It’s what she believed. Can’t change her mind about now either, can you? so what is the point of this thread? just another excuse to have a pop at trans people. it’s tedious and boring.
