To be disappointed Dolly Parton supported biological men using women's toilets?

I really liked her music and she seemed like a nice person: her Imagination Library came to my borough recently. I was very sad to hear she'd died.
But was very disappointed to read this. The statements she made about trans people deserving respect, no issue with those.
But minimising the reasonable concerns women have about being forced to let men in their toilets was wrong.
I'm not saying she should have spoken out for GC issues. It might have been best just not to comment.
Parton had connections with drag queens and I wonder if that's the lens she saw transwomen through : not an excuse but might partially explain.

I believe this configuration is much less safe allround. There is a poster here who is very knowledgeable on the subject.

But it's a fair question, right?

To be fair, Dolly wasn’t a toilet safety researcher. If she’d read my report, I believe she would be on the side of the safest designs too.

She said multiple times she modelled her look on the town prostitute. When a man mistook her for one and wouldn’t leave her alone she said she pulled a pistol out on him and threatened to shoot his foot first then go higher.

Dolly was a one-off.

But to accurately describe many on FWR as male is offensive, even though many are open about it on there they just choose to post with usernames that they assume will be ready as woman. But calling silly women handmaidens for forming their own opinions is dandy on mumsnet. The misogyny is obvious.

No it doesn't unless, again, you don't understand that numbers don't equal rates. I understand you've read one set of numbers where one is higher than the other, that is not the same as understanding (or just reading the authors asking you not to..) not to extrapolate that to the population at large with a confident claim you don't actually have the data to back it up. I mean you even claimed to have GLOBAL data showing the same pattern, that's a very easy claim to refute because anyone who has looked into this issue even a little knows the data is scarce and hard to make any absolute claims from.

You do realise that trans women are biologically men, whatever they'd prefer to be, and there have been cases of them attacking women in toilets? As well as going there for fetishistic reasons, shooting videos inside for that purpose?

If oin absolute figures the rate is higher, then given the relative population you don’t need to work out the rate. It’s very obvious that transwomen do not exhibit the same offending patterns as women.

I do have data from the US and Canada and one of the Scandinavian countries I think. Just trying to find it. The same pattern is exhibited in other countries as I claimed.

What about women who are on their periods and want privacy away from men, as some do? Or very religious women, who wouldn't want to share an intimate space with men? Or women who've been assaulted and don't want to share these spaces with men?

And other spaces like bathrooms and single sex groups like most sports, Girl Guides, breastfeeding & others still need to be single sex.

These unisex designs are not as safe or as healthy.

I have already discussed the safety part for women, children and medically vulnerable in a longer previous post. The extra privacy in these designs has implications for misuse (sex, drugs, vandalism) and supervision in an emergency (medical or fire).

One problem is when you flush, the plume covers the sink and hand dryer. You also can’t clean and ventilate as effectively as a cubicle with doors and partitions off the floor level.
