To be disappointed Dolly Parton supported biological men using women's toilets?

I really liked her music and she seemed like a nice person: her Imagination Library came to my borough recently. I was very sad to hear she'd died.
But was very disappointed to read this. The statements she made about trans people deserving respect, no issue with those.
But minimising the reasonable concerns women have about being forced to let men in their toilets was wrong.
I'm not saying she should have spoken out for GC issues. It might have been best just not to comment.
Parton had connections with drag queens and I wonder if that's the lens she saw transwomen through : not an excuse but might partially explain.

i will try to find the stats but if you count the no of transwomen murdered in the Uk vs the those that have murdered someone then it’s clear that they are more likely to murder than be murdered.

I didn’t misrepresent the population stats as applying to the general population. Transwomen in prison are many times more likely than other men to have been incarcerated for sexual offences. They are government prison and census data and the pattern is repeated globally.

in fact in the UK on absolute numbers last time I looked there were more transwomen in prison for sexual offences than women,which given the relative population sizes is an absolutely shocking statistic for transwomen.

When are people showering next to each other? This has literally never happened to me, not even at school (and definitely not at the gym etc as an adult). By ‘next to’ do you actually mean ‘in a separate private cubicle’?

There have been many incidents where girls and women have had male genitals exposed to them in showers/spas etc by trans identifying males. This is not a hypothetical.

Yes you have misrepresented the stats. You're welcome to post actual evidence supporting your claims but you won't find it and from reading your posts you don't have a very good understanding of how to read data and statistics even if you had it to hand.
This is misinformation and you should have had the data to hand before spreading it if you are confident it's a fact (it's not).

That makes a lot of sense. She probably viewed issues through that lens : transmen usually aren't dangerous and they pose virtually no physical threat to men in men's loos, changing rooms etc

Dolly Parton was famously non political we have no idea who she supported politically and what her views were

all she has said is that she feels people should be able to live authentically and she has no issues with that these are kind words there is no discrimination in what she said also no nuance to the subject

kind, generous and compassionate woman who did so much good for so many people that’s what needs to be remembered

good people may hold views I do not necessarily agree with but that doesn’t make them any less compassionate

She wasn't just a standard 'rich and privileged' person, though. I think she genuinely cared about others in a way most of those don't. But her caring nature probably meant she overlooked that dark elements of the movement.

As pps said, a lot of women her age would mainly in their lives have come across 'old school' gay male transsexuals (especially as we know she liked drag). The trans person she talked about supporting was a trans man, and they transitioned as an adult. Issues like children being given dangerous hormones and AGP men being predatory probably weren't on her radar.

I certainly don't hate Dolly : saying I'm disappointed that she spoke to support men in women's toilets doesn't mean that. As I said upthread, I still love her music and respect her charity work.
