To be disappointed Dolly Parton supported biological men using women's toilets?

I really liked her music and she seemed like a nice person: her Imagination Library came to my borough recently. I was very sad to hear she'd died.
But was very disappointed to read this. The statements she made about trans people deserving respect, no issue with those.
But minimising the reasonable concerns women have about being forced to let men in their toilets was wrong.
I'm not saying she should have spoken out for GC issues. It might have been best just not to comment.
Parton had connections with drag queens and I wonder if that's the lens she saw transwomen through : not an excuse but might partially explain.

She is entitled to hold her beliefs. Many other women will share them. Not all women are against trans women in women’s toilets.

Drag Queens and Trans Women are two totally different things.

Trans people are far more likely to be victims of violent crimes!

There aren’t many options for a gender neutral bathroom in older establishments or small space venues.

If defending women’s protections and safety really is “transphobic” and “bigoted” we are all truly lost. May as well accept the patriarchy and give up.

historically it has gone very badly for women and girls when certain subsets of males are considered to be of no threat. Priests, teachers, policemen, celebrities, charity workers for example. Why oh why are people making the same mistake with transwomen?!?! They’re just MEN. Like any other MEN.

"Defending women" has been the go-to excuse for racists, homophobes and assorted bigots forever. They point at members of a protected group who have committed crimes and suggest "they are all like that," tell them their identities are not valid, dehumanise them and suggest they are predators. Just look at Tommy Robinson's collection of wife-beating morons. They might be selective about their bigotry - "oh no, this minority group is different." It's no different for transphobes.

Dolly didn't judge people like that, and supported the rights of minorities.

Again - your view is not the only view available.
Some people, as have said already on the thread, view "gender critical" as being the ones in thrall (even if they don't mean to be) to the patriarchy and upholding the values it espouses.
Women getting harassed in toilets if they don't look "feminine enough" 🙄 just for starters (but you'll get people either saying it doesn't happen, or so what if they are, they should be fine with being questioned /collateral damage.) 😡
I view then as far more of a threat than trans people.

The protecting women and children" line is exactly the same with bigotry - once you see the parallels with racism and transphobia you can't unsee it - they're identical in argument and use the same lines.

I'd give Dolly the benefit of the doubt here because this article is from 2016 when the trans issue was only just starting to really take off and most people naively thought it was another version of gay, especially as this was when same-sex marriage had just been passed after a long battle and the trans activists cunningly jumped on the gay wagon and turned it into an "LGBT" thing.

This was before most people realised that "I just need to pee" meant things like mutilating children, male rapists with penis intact in women's prisons, biological men in women's sports, cancelling people for wrongthink, etc.

As far as I'm aware this is pretty much the only specific thing Dolly said about the trans and whenever journalists later tried to drag her into the debate she would just say things like "I want everyone to be ok" or "I love everyone".
