Rise of far right

1000 replies

Sillyme1 · Today 07:00

Any one else worried about the rise of the far right in Europe. Churchill once said ‘those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it’. Obviously social conditions are different from the 1930s, but there are similarities such as using immigrants as scapegoats (not Jews this time). Things can so easily escalate and I admit to being worried

We are all foreign aren't we?

Speak for yourself.

Lemonraider · Today 18:37

Blimey, and yet the ONS will tell you that a quarter of the people in Britain are from the rest of the world and are British. That's 16 million people who are as sane as me.

You can't say black Debbie

Why are you making stuff up?

Of course you can say black.

Is that what people like you do - if they can’t find anything to be offended about, they simply make stuff up to be offended about.

You’ve completely fabricated an issue which isn’t there - just to try and fit your own narrative so you can be offended by something that isn’t even real.

Delusion and deflection on that side.

completely obtuse or deliberately so.

conflate separate issues and know exactly what buzz words to use to try and silence people.

@Jollygreygiantess I have reposted this for you. Anderson thinks he's really funny. It is uncomfortable but does reveal what you would be getting from them.

OK, so if the person has a case for assault why does she not go to the Police as they have asked ?

Does anyone remember that video of the rotund political aid shouting at a BABY because the baby’s father believed in single sex spaces.

The baby was a little fascist.

@Contain4 actually I don't think people understood that at all - in fact they believed the opposite: that it would give the UK more control over their borders because people from the EU would no longer be able to come and go, work, live etc easily, when the effect is that we have as much migration as ever, but its from outside the EU. Plus the EU no longer have a vested interest in preventing UK bound illegal migration because if they do end up in the UK, it is no longer an EU problem or coming out of their purse. We are having to do deals and pay France for their cooperation.

Sadly, I think that many, many British voters had no understanding at all about the benefits and costs of EU membership at all. In fact many of them don’t even understand the UK political or legislative process - a damning indictment of our education system really.

And many political parties - and the media - fed and exploited this ignorance.

I agree British people don't understand the EU and many don't want to.

But I think people of Commonwealth heritage understood it only too well. Hospitality used to be run by Eastern Europeans, now it's run by immigrants from Commonwealth countries. People whose families came Commonwealth countries originally voted to leave the EU because they wanted their families to be able to come here more easily - and they were right. Now they can and do.

You may have a trans-free society under an AfD regime - it sounds like you aspire to such a thing- but you would lose all your rights as a woman. Your sole purpose in their eyes is breeder and that's it

Which is pretty ironic as their co-leader is openly gay! I don't think she's having any children, although perhaps her (non-white) partner is. Do as I say, not as I do, in that scenario but then quite a few of the high-ups in the Nazi party were gay on the quiet as well.

Who does the ONS categorise as being 'from the rest of the world'? Are you sure that's how it's worded?

Debbie is a spoof. Up thread someone had a hissy fit over someone mentioning black men. it went on and on. The piety just makes me laugh.

So I repeat, where were these 'celebrations' held?

Farage laughing isn't a celebration' it's, hmmm, Farage laughing.

You are just picking me up on one word that I used to show how triumphant these men were that the woman was dealt with. Their attitude was creepy and I wouldn't think any other woman would support this cringeworthy behaviour.

Reform has already peaked. They're not going to get into government at the next election.

I think the Conservatives will need an electoral pact or coalition with Reform - perhaps with Nigel Farage/Zia Yusuf/Danny Kruger/Richard Tice or Robert Jenrick as Deputy Prime Minister.

I think every major politically party currently would need a coalition, it’s just who gets into bed with whom based on who is far more likelier to form a Government. The Labour Party would need a complete rainbow coalition (no pun) whereas Tories and Reform could work almost like the ConDems did in 2010.

Not sure where the emboldened quote came from and why it is linked to my reply? Did you mean to tag someone else as I’ve made no reference to trans issues in this thread or women’s rights.

Tories + Reform would implode before the end of the very month they got into power.

Worrall20 · Today 18:49

That is how the far right ended, but it’s not how they started.
They started as street thugs, and uniformed marches, book burning, and routine violence towards minorities.
I make no apology in saying that Reform is Far Right, and they are only travelling one way.

Extremism Left or Right is very worrying. The attack against a police woman, breaking her spine with a sledgehammer was a left wing activist? So are Labour Left Wing and violent? No they are not! Don’t support Reform but don’t see them burning books, uniformed marches and violence towards minorities. Unless you know every single Reform Member don’t know how you can make that assumption.

DebbieSavage · Today 18:51

The problem with social media is that it allows anybody, no matter their educational attainment or intelligence the opportunity to speak their mind in a public arena that can be seen by anyone and everyone. This has allowed the kind of people like 'Tommy Robinson' the ability to manipulate the impressionable working classes who frankly have no idea how the world operates and should not be allowed the opportunity to seriously damage the social fabric of our society.

How do we fix this? Ban X. Ban Facebook. Ban YouTube. Ban all the places where the right can freely associate. Prescribe right wing parties terrorists and prosecute their campaigners. Make people understand that their views will not be tolerated in a progressive society. They can either get with the program or enjoy a nice comfy jail cell with their favourite right wing content creators.

When did I say that?

I said the reason that there were no (or only a couple) of women in the protest was because they know how dangerous these men are and that they’ll likely be attacked.

I didn’t say all 300 would immediately jump them.

Why do you think no women were there???
