Rise of far right

Sillyme1 · Today 07:00

Any one else worried about the rise of the far right in Europe. Churchill once said ‘those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it’. Obviously social conditions are different from the 1930s, but there are similarities such as using immigrants as scapegoats (not Jews this time). Things can so easily escalate and I admit to being worried

So, you don't know how to define it then?

Define what? I've defined it many times. Every one from anywhere on the planet is British. They just have to get here.

I think any real closeness between Johnson and Dorries is only in her dreams

Definitely. Night dreams and day dreams both.

Anyone from anywhere in the world is British the moment they buy a plane ticket. They are the real native British, in fact they were British the moment they thought about it.

I'll take that as confirmation that you can't answer the question.

Fair enough. Lots of people post shit on MN without being able to defend or explain their position, so you are not alone.Flowers

You are being really offensive and unkind.

Yes, I don't recall when the world shifted it that way, the sort open acceptance and laughter at treating women violently. Of course it happened behind close doors but the lack of condemnation, the jokes about it, I can't think of any men in my life, Grandads, uncles, Dad, brothers that would have thought this is ok, in fact it would be the vehemently the opposite for my Grandad who probably would have tackled any man doing that!

Yes, you've put it in a nutshell. Farage, Jenrick, Anderson - diminished themselves by supporting that attack. They could have condemned the woman for her beliefs without supporting group physical attack on her.

It does not give us confidence that these men will condemn attacks against women.

You don't want an answer, you simply want to tell us we don't exist.

Who's 'we'? Who doesn't exist? This is downright bizarre.

Farage, Jenrick and Anderson have massively undermined Sarah Pochin, who launched a Reform Women's Network at the conference to fight against VAWG.

Well, if a clearly defined "native population" did exist, I'm pretty sure that you'd have given me an answer by now. And yet you keep evading the question.

Like I said, it's ok not to be able to defend your arguments. It's actually a very common problem for those whose arguments are based on prejudice rather than rational thought. But you should be aware that it does tend to rather undermine your stance.

Absolute tosh

according to what the media and other nefarious political parties are preaching, me as an non white non English woman would be far right because I believe in protected spaces based on SEX.

I would also be far right because I do not agree that raping white underaged girls is ok and we should shut up about it for the good of diversity.

Id be extremely far right because I do not believe in illegal migration.

That is why im contemplating voting for far right Kemi, or that big time islamaphobe Zia…

I’m a leftist and believe in single sex spaces.

I also don’t believe that rape is ok, regardless of age, sex or race - I’ve never been told to shut up about it.

You cannot be against rape and report to be far right in the same sentence.

The far right are anti-feminist and believe that rape is a right.

I’m not sure why you as a woman would say you are supporting them.

I think you may be confused.

I think that’s the thing. People just look at the protests and others being vocal about voting Reform in the media, and think ‘there’s nothing to see here’. But the reality is that there are millions of people in everyday life who won’t be shouting it from the rooftops, but who will just put their X next to Reform at the next election. My friends and extended family don’t know my political views and I don’t know theirs. Never talk politics with others because it can create drama and arguments. Not worth the hassle.

Exactly this!

I'm simply describing consecutive government's own policy on immigration and the usual claim that natives don't exist made by the anglophobic.

I travel alot in Central and Eastern Europe and using the term 'far right' for the policies of the parties currently being elected is an insult to those that died and suffered under truely 'far right' regimes. The continually use of the term for Conservative policies devalues the term. If you think Reform is 'far right' you need to go and stand on the edge of the Danube in Budapest where the shoes of women and children are created as art to remember those thrown in to drown because of their family political support, or go to Lithuanian villages that all, with little exception, have mass graves on their outskirts. Or maybe the mobile gas chambers in Solvenia and Slovakia to remove political opponents.
Closing down the genuine debate about issues around immigration and sustainability of communities and distribution of resources in society, by labeling everyone as a common enemy and extreme is exactly what creates the situations where extreme agendas can develop. But the left never see this because they believe their ideology is the only ideology that should be tolerated. Every report of centre right wing views is now started with 'the far right'. It's an attempt to embedded the idea that not conferring with the liberal left wing ideology is a threat to society. It's working too. Labelling reform as 'far right' and even facist is now completely mainstream.
It's not a 'far right' those turning in their watery grave in the Danube would recognise, that's for sure.

That is how the far right ended, but it’s not how they started.
They started as street thugs, and uniformed marches, book burning, and routine violence towards minorities.
I make no apology in saying that Reform is Far Right, and they are only travelling one way.

Are you around men that would behave like that in the Reform Conference audience? How do you justify that behaviour towards a woman, do you not think this is testament to their party values?

I said this thread is about the rise of FAR right ideology.

You said it was absolute tosh and listed the things you do and don’t agree with and suggested that being against rape or same sex spaces means you’re far right - which is BS because I’m a left and also against these things (so are the majority of MNers) and in fact far right members do not care about rape at all.

So exactly how am I deflecting?

And how exactly is the thread being about the rise in FAR right ideology absolute tosh (when it’s literally in the title)

I can trace family tree in England back to the 15th Century. However, I do have family heritage from a Scandinavian country that was only the last century. Oh dear, I suppose I fail your test.
