Hairdresser is running late and I have a flight to catch!

I’m booked into my hairdressers first appointment of the day. I arrived ten minutes early and they’ve told me she’s running late as she got out of bed late!

She is very much aware of the fact I have a flight to catch. I booked this a lot with the explicit reason of it being because I have a flight this afternoon. She put a note on my record to say I was getting a flight.

What do I do?! AIBU to walk out if it gets to nine and she’s not ready?

Of course you walk out. What a weird question. What if people said no, stay there and wait, would you have missed your flight?

OP wouldn’t have missed her flight because she is already allowing 3-5 business days to arrive at the airport

Well that's the thing with unexpected issues, they're unexpected.

Actually both are perfectly valid forms, with wiggle room more common in American English whilst wriggle room appears more frequently in British English.

You were leaving at 11am to go the airport for a 7pm flight? Is that right? How far away do you live from the airport? I’d be aiming to get the airport for 4 if it was me, I’ve never missed a flight

Anyone who travels on the M5 anywhere past Stroud, knows it can be a complete nightmare. A 2.15 hour journey took us twice as long a few weeks ago. Admittedly it was a Sunday, but a couple of weeks ago a 1hr15mins journey had an hour added to it with constant slow moving traffic.

This is nuts. Even if it was 4 hours travel to the airport, you’d be there by 3pm, 4 hours early! Why do you need to be there that early??

You quite obviously have no clue what these 2 motorways in that area are like, so why comment?
They are a fucking nightmare on a 'normal' day let alone a BH weekend, so not dramatic at all! I do these every day and it can take anything from 1 1/2 to the longest it took me 6 1/2 hours!

Don't some take this long now. I don't dye my hair, but I keep hearing they do it differently and it takes much longer than in the past (but it's apparently less painful and safer for your hair).
If it is an appointment that'll take a while OP, I'd just leave, and she's cheeky if she charges you for cancelling when you were clear you needed to leave at X time. No one made her commit to that, and if you'd slept in, she wouldn't rearrange her day for you.
If you're going for a sun/swim holiday, hairdressers say you're better getting colour treatments done after the holiday, not before, but if it's only a cut, don't suppose it matters much either way.

OP is being vague what motorways she is even talking about because saying what airport she is going to would be "outing". 🙄 So we have no clue what motorways she is even talking about. Still, aiming to arrive 4-6 hours early for a flight is excessive in anyone's book.

I do get leaving early. I said the same about Gatwick. You just don’t know esp at j5/6 and always accidents there and tailbacks

so I prefer to get there early rather then worry

a friend last month almost missed her plane as m25 shut so had to go via back roads and a20/25 (if know the area and local) and took an extra hour on top of her hour to travel

the last passengers. Name called and walk of shame onto the plane / but least she didn’t miss it

Flight at 7, 2.5 hours for airport is 4.30. Even with a 4 hour drive you could leave at 12.30.

Any time I’ve arrived at an airport over 2 hours before flight time the check in desk hasn’t even been open! What do people do for hours if they have check in luggage? Just sit about waiting?

I'm so invested in this (and the thread the other day about the person who had a 1.5-2 hr drive to Bristol airport for an evening flight and was going to leave at the crack of dawn. Could they be the same poster?

Anyway, I hope they both make their flights and can relax into their holidays.
