Hairdresser is running late and I have a flight to catch!

I’m booked into my hairdressers first appointment of the day. I arrived ten minutes early and they’ve told me she’s running late as she got out of bed late!

She is very much aware of the fact I have a flight to catch. I booked this a lot with the explicit reason of it being because I have a flight this afternoon. She put a note on my record to say I was getting a flight.

What do I do?! AIBU to walk out if it gets to nine and she’s not ready?

So even if it was 4 hours to the airport you’re going to be waiting around for another 4 before your flight??

4Tornot4T · Today 09:02

Just seen your timings. You should have loads of time - just remind your hairdresser that you are under a bit of time pressure.

PrettyLittleRose · Today 09:03

Oh ignore me!!! I thought her flight was at 1pm! It's 7pm!

Learn to read posts properly @PrettyLittleRose 😂

As you were!

AuntieBiotics · Today 09:04

Waiting for the OP to drip feed that she's not started packing or something. Even on her worst case scenario she is 4 hours ahead of her flight at the airport.

CheeseWisely · Today 09:04

Hang on, flight at 7pm, getting there 2 hours before departure takes us to 5pm (4pm if you want to be super keen or are going long haul and want to be there 3 hours prior), a maximum 4 hour drive to get there takes us to 12 noon.

You’ve got literal hours of wiggle room.

It’s the m5 on a bank holiday weekend. God knows what will happen! I’d rather be early than miss the flight

Then why did you a book a hair appointment for this morning? Confused

PrettyLittleRose · Today 09:02

Bank holiday weekend. Has she really? The roads are going to be absolutely RAMMED!

I get that but if it’s going to take potentially more than six hours to get there so she’s at risk of missing her flight then why book an appointment that day at all?!

3luckystars · Today 09:06

The flight is 10 hours away how long does it take to do your hair?

moppety · Today 09:06

Apologies @PrettyLittleRose just saw your update re: wrong time so ignore me!

2chocolateoranges · Today 09:06

I like to be at the airport with plenty of time but you’re being over dramatic!

I thought you were going to say your flight was at 1pm!

StolenTeapots · Today 09:07

If you plan to leave at 11 for the airport were you leaving straight from it?!

Because I banked on her being on time!

Good luck with the M5 is all I can say.

Not unreasonable to expect a pre-booked appointment to be met.

greensoup · Today 09:13

Is this a reverse? Surely noone would book an appointment on the day of the flight and leave no wriggle room for delays?

I’m keeping an eye on traffic now. If it gets too bad I’ll just drive halfway and then get the train!

I figured I had enough time with it being the first appointment of the day!

What were you planning on having done to your hair? If its a cut and colour gor example then leave out the colour and just get the cut, and rebook for the colour when you get home.

Flight is this evening at 7. It can be anywhere from 2 to 4 hours to the airport, the appointment is meant to be 2 hours and so I was supposed to be leaving for the airport at 11.

You’ve got loads of time

It’s hair extensions being moved up so really I need it doing because they look so ratty!

I think you’ll be fine! 10-20 mins isn’t going to make any real difference to those timings. If you leave at 11 and it does only take you two hours, you’d be hanging around the airport for six hours!

Edited

Agree.

You'd die of stress of you lived in our house op! We'd avoid ending up at the airport for 6 hours like the plague!

Honestly, never a good idea - people can be delayed or appointments can over-run for all kinds of reasons.

Missey85 · Today 09:22

I can't believe you booked a appointment on the day you knew you had a flight even if she was there on time have you left her the proper time to do a cut? Why wouldn't you go the day before or something I suppose it's easier to blame the hairdresser when your the one that hasn't managed your time

Blondeshavemorefun · Today 09:25

I prefer to be at airport early than worry a the accidents /traffic on m25

but even if she was on time - to have a 2hr hair app with extensions seems crazy on the day of your flight

why didn’t you get it done another day /last weekend /after work etc

and as you are still replying at almost 930 do I take it she still isn’t there @idonthavetimeforthisrn

You've got bags of time, even leaving late. I'd be planning to arrive around 2 hours before the flight.
