Hairdresser is running late and I have a flight to catch!

I’m booked into my hairdressers first appointment of the day. I arrived ten minutes early and they’ve told me she’s running late as she got out of bed late!

She is very much aware of the fact I have a flight to catch. I booked this a lot with the explicit reason of it being because I have a flight this afternoon. She put a note on my record to say I was getting a flight.

What do I do?! AIBU to walk out if it gets to nine and she’s not ready?

Hair is being done and I’m getting stressed looking at the maps!

Can’t you just get the train all the way and save yourself the stress of potential delays

Agree.

You'd die of stress of you lived in our house op! We'd avoid ending up at the airport for 6 hours like the plague!

I'm the opposite. I love getting to the airport super early.

Gatwick Airport is one of my favourite places in the world!

We’ve just come off the M5 at Chievely and the motorway is really quiet, so much so I commented on it to DH!

Surely that's the M4??

Jungfraujoch · Today 10:23

I’m confused- even if you don’t leave until midday and it takes the max 4 hrs you’ll still be early! I’m sure all will be good Nd have a great holiday!

scoobysnaxx · Today 10:23

What time did she arrive?

Why are you stressing yourself out looking at Google maps? Just relax let them do your hair and then set off as planned. It doesn't sound like your appointment will finish much later than the scheduled time anyway. You still have hours to get there and you'll be waiting hours at the airport even if the road is busy.

Down to Cardiff! It’ll be even worse

Oh so M5 and M4, you are right to allow so much more time OP.
Hope you get out on time!

Bananacrepewithnuts · Today 10:27

We need to know this evening if you made it on time!

Queenncat · Today 10:42

Hmm. It's not her job to manage the fact you didn't book your hair at an appropriate time. Like the day before. You're just one of her many clients. People are late, annoying, but it happens. YABU to create such a red line on the morning of your flight. 🙎

1percentbatterylife · Today 10:43

At least Cardiff security will be fairly quick! Hope you make it and have a lovely holiday in the sunshine! ☀️

DeftGoldHedgehog · Today 10:57

Next time don't have your hair done the day you are leaving for holiday if someone running slightly late is so time-critical or makes you so anxious.

Why? Please share? What’s great about Gatwick?

I may have missed out, I always find it cheap and scruffy and disorganised.

Why? You’ve still given yourself plenty of time to allow for delays. YAB ridiculous now. Even if you leave at 1 you will be fine.

I’m out! Christ that was stressful

tokennamechange · Today 11:15

cardiff airport is always dead OP, you can park, drop luggage, go through security and be in departures within ten minutes, with a stop for a greggs inbetween!

ChakaKan · Today 11:16

So you still have 7 hours and 45 minutes before your plane departs. Absolute drama llama

An hour to move hair extensions seems awfully fast!

Agreed.

OP seems to thrive on drama and over reaction.

Even if your appointment had started at 8.45 I wouldn't have expected to be out much before 11. So it looks like your appointment only started a few minutes later than initially planned.

OP you’re going to be fine. Enjoy your flight when you get there and please consider seeking help for anxiety when you get back 🫣😉💖

Viviennemary · Today 11:30

I don't like even the possibility of being late. But if your flight isn't till 7 tonight you most likely have plenty of time if you are more or less ready to go.

WheresThatCatGoneNow · Today 11:31

Honestly!

First world problem, or what 🤨

Get over yourself.

Lol. That's what everyone says (including my friends and family).
My kids joke 'right flights at 5pm so mum will want to get there at 12pm!'
I love the whole expectation of travel - the excitement in the air at Gatwick.
Happy to browse duty free for ages and I will treat myself to just one thing (I set aside some money for a Gatwick treat).
Get something to eat and wait excitedly for the gate to come up.
Watching all the planes and wondering where they're going. Adventure is ahead for so many people.
Love it.

Having said all this. Different story when you land back in the UK. Just want to get through ASAP and get in the car to go home
