Hairdresser is running late and I have a flight to catch!

I’m booked into my hairdressers first appointment of the day. I arrived ten minutes early and they’ve told me she’s running late as she got out of bed late!

She is very much aware of the fact I have a flight to catch. I booked this a lot with the explicit reason of it being because I have a flight this afternoon. She put a note on my record to say I was getting a flight.

What do I do?! AIBU to walk out if it gets to nine and she’s not ready?

Presumably she's now there doing your hair after arriving a little later than intended.

You don't need to catastrophise and won't need to drive and then catch a train or any other over complicated journey as you will still have absolutely tons of time to make your flight.

Truthfully I suspect you'll actually be glad of the delay in the end as it will reduce the amount of waiting around at the airport before the flight.

It was the m5 on a bank Holiday weekend when you booked .
If 20 minutes makes such a big difference then why book appointment so tight

Why does it take 2-4 h to drive to the airport. Surely it is one or the other? Or do you mean 2h but you want to build in 2h for delays? You sound like my Mum, she always builds in masses of extra time when travelling, the worst case was when she took me to the train station that was ~10 minutes away and we arrived over an hour early. If you are 2 hours from the airport then as long as you leave before lunch you will be fine. They always build in masses of time in their recommendations for getting through the airport.

But if you get so anxious about travelling maybe next time book your hair appointment for the day before. Because this isn't the hairdresser's fault if you are getting very anxious with no reason and you shouldn't take it out on her.

Honestly, booking a 2 hour hair appointment the day you're travelling to catch a flight is just plain daft.

Ts 2 hours as of now. Google predicts it could go up to 4 taking into account predicted traffic

Madness to book on the morning of your flight if the traffic is known to be so bad on the way to the airport

Where are you leaving from and which airport do you need to get to?

If it's the M5/M4 interchange that you need to get through i can understand your panic. (I live locally).

YABU to book a hair appointment on the same day you’re catching a flight especially when the journey to the airport commonly has traffic and can cause delays anyway and you wanted to set off this morning

You’ve made yourself stressed by booking your appointment for the last minute

Id say you are unreasonable for making an appointment for the morning of your flight but you wouldn't be unreasonable to walk out when you need to

Even if you are one of those people that likes 3 hours at the airport, and even if it does take 4 hours to get there, you still don’t need to leave until 12. You’re building contingency upon contingency upon contingency.

Assuming you are going up to Bristol if think you'll be ok as traffic likely worse going south

Perfectly fine to book a 8.45 appointment when your flight is 7 in the evening, when you are 2 hours from the airport and can take the train in case of traffic delays.

That's ok if the airport is near a station (Bristol airport is in open country only accessed by car or bus )

She really doesn't though, people are advised to get to the airport at least two hours early so she should be there for 6, It is the busiest weekend of the year and there are floods in some parts of the country so there may be road closures/ diversions etc. the airport will also be busy.
