Would it be rude to ask cleaner to tidy Dd's room

I usually keep on top of it and to be fair, she usually doesn't make much mess, but over the holidays with her being at home and having friends over, I've just sort of left it.
So much of the house was messy that I do daily, so I shut the door and don't want to look at it 😂
i'm a really tidy person so it stresses me out.
Cleaners are due on Friday, they always do a big clean of the whole house for four hours. I also leave it exceptionally tidy.
Would they be offended if I asked them if they could poseibly tidy Dd's room and wardrobe (she seems to have got every item of clothing out, it's a pain)
Obviously this would be extra time on top of the cleaning and obviously I would pay more

My cleaner does this every week as part of her included hours. We agreed at start as life is too short to yell at teens about rooms

napody · Yesterday 14:51

How old is she? I'd worry more about what you're teaching your daughter by doing that.

onmylastnerveseriously · Yesterday 14:51

(If you are lucky enough to be able to pay somebody to tidy of course)

MonkeyMaze101 · Yesterday 14:54

Not rude to ask but personally Id be telling your daughter to stay in her room till it's sorted. She needs to learn how to keep the place tidy.

Chewbecca · Yesterday 14:55

How old is DD? Why aren't you asking her to tidy?

Whycantwatertastebetter · Yesterday 14:58

Dd usually tidies as it's not crazy mess, but her doing it properly and especially the wardrobe just doesn't happen, she tries her hardest but I like it very tidy, the way I keep it

I don't see why Cleaner shouldn't clean every room in the house

MrsTerryPratchett · Yesterday 14:58

I think, depending on age, it would be an awful lesson.

I remember vividly when I babysat at the house of a man who had 'staff' as a child. He made toast, and just left the jammy knife on the side, stuck to the top. Would I want that for my child? No. Chores are important for their well-being.

*Crazy messy

@Whycantwatertastebetterat the outset I told the lady I am hiring that I am looking for general help around the house which includes cleaning, tidying, and perhaps some meal prep. She changes bedding, reorganises wardrobes and waters my plants when I am away and keeps an eye on the house. It works for us.

They always clean it, but never tidy, they don't ever have to, they are able to just come in, dust, vac etc

That's ideal. They've always only cleaned everywhere and never had to tidy

As you mean ove time, you really need to ask in advance as she may be busy after yours. I'd be worried if you like it a certain way that you'll either have to give very precise instructions, or end u owatxhong over her, or re do it

StressedOutPeanut · Yesterday 15:01

Cleaners are there to clean, not tidy. Tell your daughter to tidy up her own mess otherwise your setting a really shit example to her.

She's 7. She can and does but it isn't properly tidy as she isn't able to do the wardrobe especially the way I or another adult would. She will be told to tidy before they come, but I know it will still need a proper tidy afterwards

Sorry if this de-rails the post, but can you let me know if these are just standard cleaners or if it classified as a home help? My Cleaner left so I’ve had to employ a cleaning company who just do the cleaning. But I really want some sort of Home help, not sure I’m searching or asking using in the correct terms . I can’t find anyone where we live in South Yorkshire. I’m in a bit of pottering, bit of putting clothes away, bit of Ironing, that sort of thing. Many thanks.

Yes she does do it, but there's no way she'll be able to do it properly as is really messy as Ive let it go this summer

So it's not actually untidy, just not up to your standards? Poor lass.
But yes YWBU to ask the cleaner to tidy.

I used to have cleaners who did an extra half hour each week as there was always some tidying to do. The problem was that they never put things in the right place so then neither the DC nor I could find anything. So you could ask but be prepared for it not to achieve what you’re hoping!

Yes I imagine I'll have to do a little bit afterwards, but I just need someone to help get it going and I know they'll get a lot of it done. I really hate constant tidying and looking at the room is giving me anxiety almost 😂

Cleaners usually clean , they don’t tidy. You can always ask them @Whycantwatertastebetterbut your daughter should do it instead of expecting other people to pick up after her. With teens room , I would just shut the door.
Also how would a cleaner know where things go ?

Then you need ro help her tidy up, do it together, it's not a cleaners job, help her put her clothes away, what else needs doing that you can't do yourselves. Relax with the strict tidy rules, you'll give yourself a breakdown when she's a teenager. You can't expect a 7 yo bedroom to be immaculate, it's her private safe space.

Dc is only 7, so it's a bit different to a teen, she does her best though as isnt normally messy, we've just relaxed more this summer and I've let it go, regretting it now though!
I suppose all I can do is ask if they do that sevice and obviously would be willing to pay extra
