Threw water at my DP, was I justified

I feel bad for doing this, it’s really out of character for me but I did it instinctively and out of shock. I was stood up pouring some water from the sink on my lunch break, DP backed up against me so his bum was touching mine and he broke wind. I turned around and swilled him with water. I know it was wrong but the disrespect and shock made me angry in that moment.

He is now saying I was out of order and isn’t accepting my apology.

The shock of a fart made you instinctively throw water at him?

Ridiculous! 😂

Lemondressese · 24/08/2026 20:28

Yanbu.
He really is a rude pig.

YourHeartyFatball · 24/08/2026 20:29

You should have drowned him in the sink. 😉

Specialneedsnightmare · 24/08/2026 20:29

That was revolting of him. He can't do things like that and then get upset when you react. I'd have been absolutely disgusted and probably done the same.

DabOfPistachio · 24/08/2026 20:30

Yeah you shouldn't have done that but it didn't come out of nowhere. That was awful behaviour from him. I'd be absolutely furious and upset too.
And honestly the only reaction from him after that should be an immediate and genuine apology at badly misjudging his 'joke'
I'd be really upset too. You deserve an apology and if he's not accepting yours then he is well out of order.

Pinkissmart · 24/08/2026 20:30

He startled you while you were at the sink. Natural consequence I’d say.

And what a pig

NotMajorTom · 24/08/2026 20:31

Interesting

people can throw water at a partner who does something they don’t like and that’s fine…

Oioiqueen · 24/08/2026 20:32

Meh I'd have got him back later 😂 an ice cube on his back whilst he's asleep or turning the light off on him whilst he's on the toilet..... Yes it's gross but I'd have laughed

BatshitIsTheOnlyExplanation · 24/08/2026 20:33

It's far worse to back your arse against someone and deliberately fart than to chuck water as a retaliation.
I think you need to evaluate your life choices though.

Someone deliberately farting on you is way worse than being suddenly startled and splashing water. Absolutely disgusting from him.

Eyesopenwideawake · 24/08/2026 20:34

Just spilt up with him. Life's too short.

LizandDerekGoals · 24/08/2026 20:35

If it wasn't holy water and he didnt start to burn, he is being ridiculous. You shock someone near water and you get wet.

ClassyLass · 24/08/2026 20:37

It was a reaction. It was dramatic (but understandable) and now he's being a baby. Why don't you get a takeaway and cuddle after laughing about how silly you both are and how short life is to be hung up on this kind of thing.

CookingSucks · 24/08/2026 20:43

@Beestings1 as long as it was cold water, then he absolutely deserved it. Shame it wasn’t the hose!

grinandslothit · 24/08/2026 20:50

His farting on you was out of order you can just tell him that the water was just a joke and he needs to get over it

soothingaloevera · 24/08/2026 20:51

Domestic abuse, be ashamed

He is an immature idiot and got exactly what he deserved, stand your ground!

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 24/08/2026 20:57

What he did was fucking disgusting. Why the fuck did you apologise?!

RemindMeIn15Minutes · 24/08/2026 20:58

Yeah, fuck him the disgusting arsehole.

Plmnki · 24/08/2026 20:58

Dump him and move on, he is a repulsive pig

12234m · 24/08/2026 20:59

Stop apologising. What he did was revolting.

He won't do that again!

CamillaMcCauley · 24/08/2026 21:01

Let him sulk then, I think you were more than justified and I wouldn’t have been apologizing unless he did so first.
