I know, I had the same feeling when I went to Poland last year. It's tragic what's happening to Britain.

Eastern Europe just refused to accept hundreds of thousands of migrants, refugees and asylum seekers. (Poland did accept a lot of Ukrainians but they have a very similar culture). They have seen the benefits of their strong stance in having safe and stable countries whereas we in the West are riven with conflict.

I think it's only fair we take our fair share of detritus too.

You don't get to make that decision for everyone else. Maybe you should volunteer to donate 25% of your salary to help out. Or let a couple of young male asylum seekers live with you for free.

I only ever see this kind of attitude from privileged people that haven't suffered much adversity. The majority of the people you advocate for likely wouldn't do the same for you. If they could impose Sharia law they wouldn't give a shit how you felt about it.

I saw an interview with the Polish PM where somebody was trying to sharme him . He basically said "tough shit. We're a Christian country and don't want to dilute that with groups that don't share our cultural values. I was elected to serve the people so they're my first priority".

And he is literally not excusing himself. This is the truth as it is.

I rather suspect sex crime statistics are not being properly recorded in Sudan due to the civil war. That said the UN have issued many statements concerning the ongoing systematic sexual violence in Sudan. Gang rape has unfortunately become common tool used primarily by RSF along ethnic lines.

I would love to take a few asylum seekers myself honey believe me, but my chihuahua is nervous around people and likes to use our spare bedroom for napping during the day, so sadly it isn't possible for me unfortunately. They would be better off in the hotel at the nearest town a few miles down the road. It's a busy area, next to a primary school and women's domestic violence shelter but the hotel is hardly used and should have the space to facilitate them.

My family are in a small town in Italy - not near any city of note. Yet it has gradually become “home” - of temporary home - to a large number of asylum seekers.

People may say, “Oh, there aren’t lots of rapes/assaults” - but what has happened is that townsfolk have amended their behaviour. The evening stroll? Not past big groups of men on all the benches, thanks. Taking kids to the playground? Er, no - there are blokes sitting there. Walking at night? Dn is now collected from the station by car. There are multiple men sitting in the station.

This was always the safest place and these men have ruined it.

It’s really inconsiderate, having the primary school and the shelter there.

Maybe you can write to the council and they can relocate the school and the shelter somewhere where they won’t be in the way?

Indeed. Try going to Saudi Arabia or UAE and building CofE churches or even better a synagogue. Start preaching Christianity on street corners, raping their women and children. See what happens.

Yes, fantastic to see. Poland are in the EU so it shows how much can be achieved when there is the political will to do it. Same with Hungary.

Poland and Hungary are both culturally Christian and most of the population identify as being Christian even if they're not attending church regularly. This gives them a higher ideal to defend and protect.

What do we have to defend? Love Island? Cups of tea? Dropping litter? Getting drunk and fighting? The Sun 'newspaper'? Mental elf? Pathetic middle class liberalism? The newest model of car/handbag/plastic clothing? Yay, go for it.

Yes, our culture has certainly been degraded. It has taken decades to get to the bad state we are in now.

Eastern European countries are a lot more homogeneous so people have a much better idea of who they are. Their politicians reflect that and defend the interests of their people robustly and without fear.

It’s not just Eastern Europe. Denmark has a different attitude to many. The Danes believe they’re the best country in the world and if you live there you learn Danish quickly and abide by their laws and cultural norms. Seems fair enough to me.

Well that sounds like an absolute nightmare place to me. Where is all the good food? How are the medical institutions able to function without bringing in millions of skilled workers from Sudan, Eritrea and Afghanistan? What about the culture? Without immigration there is no culture, certainly not in Europe anyway, we don't have a culture. How are the Polish community supposed to better themselves if they don't have people living there from another country telling them their culture is offensive?

No, this is terrible. The very thought makes me shudder with dread at what that could mean for our country if we were to adopt such retrograde policies.
