Otherwise he can fund it himself or stay in the US?

Does he want £5million? Or have just made that up/read it in the Daily Mail?

friedaklein · 22/08/2026 19:49

Where is that figure from?

Royal security for him and his entire family will definitely cost that much (probably more)

Oh for goodness sake 😂 the only reason I'm annoyed at them 'coming back' is because we are going to collapse under the deluge of batshit posts like this, and frothing at the mouth MsM headlines about it ...

Can you post your evidence of 1). How much security costs and 2). That he has asked for it and expects tax payers for it.

'Twerking for pennies...' 😆

£5mill? Damn, if he'd come back a bit sooner, he could have stood for Clacton...

AcquadiP · 22/08/2026 20:05

Some parts of the media are throwing estimated figures around regarding the cost of Met security. That doesn't mean H qualifies for it or has been awarded it, it's just certain media outlets are stirring things up. It's just as likely KC has agreed to fund security for HAM and the children, though it won't be Met and it won't be armed.

Theunamedcat · 22/08/2026 20:13

1, we don't want him back as a working royal
2, as a non working royal its highly unlikely he will qualify for tax payers funded security
3, thanks for putting that awful image in my head of a tweaking harry

He has taken the home office to court to sue for it...

He has publicly demanded it! Four of them full time. That's going to be 5m easily in salary for the relevant officers alone.

He can’t be a working royal, even if he wanted to be. He gave it all up.

Can you post your evidence for him suing the home office and wanting £5million per year when he moves to the UK?

4 x 24hr cover needs something like 20 staff members to cover weekends, holidays etc.

A general rule of thumb is that a professional staff member costs an organisation twice their actual salary.

So £5m divided by 20 divided by 2 is £125,000. Fuck me sideways, if that's what the average police officer earns I'm definitely in the wrong profession.

Or maybe your maths is utter bollocks.

Namenamchange · 22/08/2026 20:40

What would you prefer? Him
a security risk?

How much work for £5m? Couple of days?
Maybe a church service or two, couple
of trips to football and Wimbledon?

Maybe it’s time to start asking if any of them should be receiving tax money’s and what the ratio of money to work should be.

What really is a working royal?

summater · 22/08/2026 20:42

Unfortunately the DM is often first with these things, we will see

Vaxtable · 22/08/2026 20:46

As he has already lost a case about security i wm not sure he will get what he wants. He’s not a working member and apart from Charles and Williams family no other working royal gets full time security, they get it when working

RAVEC award security on a need-to-have-basis not on what Harry's latest petulant demands are. All his previous attempts at getting Met protection have failed.

Yes, it went to the Court of Appeal and he lost his case in May 2025.

They are clearly at risk, increasing daily via the media hatred. Hopefully this will be funded privately. Whether they are working royals or not, they are the direct relatives of the king.

JulietteHasAGun · 22/08/2026 21:30

He’s potentially more at risk than other non working royals due to his military service and didn’t he yap in his book about killing numerous people while in Afghanistan? I imagine that, combined with being son of the king makes him a target.

I can’t stand the pair of them but I do think if it’s decided he’s at risk then security should be funded regardless of him being a working royal or not. I do get the argument that it’s not his fault he’s the son of the king so why should he pay?

I read he has already approached the Home Office asking what plans are in place for his security.
