To think if "Prince" Harry wants 5m a year of taxpayer money he needs to start twerking for pennies as a working royal again

Otherwise he can fund it himself or stay in the US?

Andrew served in the military he doesn't get tax payer funded security he also keeps his dang mouth shut

Andrew has to keep his mouth shut. Sharing is not in his interest. Whilst Harry may have spouted some bollocks, I'd take that over what Andrew's been accused of any day of the week.

@JulietteHasAGun

....and didn’t he yap in his book about killing numerous people while in Afghanistan?

H did, but arguably he shouldn't have done so due to the Official Secrets Act or whatever it is called now plus considerations about his own personal security...the latter in particular is the reason why you'll find many accounts of the more recent campaigns are written by authors using a pseudonym or are light on detail. Guess H didn't get the memo or listen during training.

If H had had half a brain he would have justifiably told the writer of Spare that some detail was off limits but nope, he ran off at the mouth and now grumbles that nasty people might be out to get him.

If he is is at more elevated risk (and RAVEC will decide) than some others in the RF because of his time in Afghanistan then to some extent he has to accept that he played a part in elevating it.

OonaStubbs · 23/08/2026 13:36

Why can't he just get a job? Meghan can go back to acting.

Surely so should Kate then? She hasn’t been twerking much at all lately.

Greenseacat · 23/08/2026 13:58

I think the Royal Family should make a decision:

  • either strip them of their titles and they become private citizens responsible for their own upkeep
  • or they go back to being working royals in exchange for financial support and security.

They can't have everything their way and expect tax payers to pay for them to do nothing but whinge all day.

DoubleShotEspresso · 23/08/2026 14:27

Agree with a previous poster here, I am far more aggrieved that Liz Truss receives a penny, she did far greater damage to the UK than H&M.
I don’t agree with all that they did either, I don’t envy their lifestyle or what seem to be such limited choices versus the wealth they still hold.
So much misinformation on these threads, “they’re broke”-hardly true with their property portfolio, trust funds etc. The query here is that they cannot it seems continue to spend as they have been without alternative income streams. Jam won’t cover their costs, so why the backlash at film roles? If that’s Meghan’s job then it’s clear this would be preferable to many here than ever being a working royal?
”They should just pay for security”-This cannot be simply bought. Armed police cannot be contracted out. High RF security is assessed upon risk. The RAVEC report from July is not yet released and much has changed since then. If they and their children niw reside here, the well evidenced threats surely need reassessing?
The fact publicity is being so tightly managed on their location and schools is very telling. Burnham very tight lipped-“it’s a private matter “, further telling.
I can see Harry (but not Meghan) being soft launched in the coming months by KC at high profile events, Remembrance Day for veterans, IG and similar until the public is seen to be thawing…
It’s highly probable I think KC will encourage some form of working Royal life for Harry & hope that William follows suit. Optimistic yes, but if Camilla could be pushed into public life after years of being hated I am sure Harry can.
The security issue really is a minor cost & detail in the bigger scheme of things. The public have funded far worse characters.

I read he has already approached the Home Office asking what plans are in place for his security.

Where did you read that? Have you got a link?

Andrew is definitely keeping his mouth shut. Not sure it’s for laudable reasons.

Hopefully the HO has chased him. He's not a working royal and has already lost his court case on the subject.

caringcarer · 23/08/2026 15:09

He's not going to be a working royal so does not qualify for tax funded security. Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, Zara Tindall or her DC Lady Louise or her brother James don't get it so no reason for Harry, Meghan, Archie or Lilibet to get it. If Harry and Meghan want security they will have to pay for it as they did in the US.

1, we don't want him back as a working royal
2, as a non working royal its highly unlikely he will qualify for tax payers funded security
3, thanks for putting that awful image in my head of a tweaking harry

And thank you for being the first to post something sensible and accurate

LaurieFairyCake · 23/08/2026 17:31

Of course Andrew gets security. There was an article about someone climbing a fence near his farmhouse and pictures of security guards coming out to get rid of them.

Yes, I think the King can afford it for his son and family too. That must be protected, however much I think he’s a chump and a pair of grifters we can’t have them kidnapped etc.

I think that might be more to do with where he lives. I googled it. He lives in a farmhouse on the private Sandringham estate and I expect the whole estate has round the clock security guards. Not like his own private security army protecting him wherever he goes. That's what Harry wants. Security paid for by us while he goes on his money making publicity jaunts. Not on.

You can’t compare Harry to Beatrice and Eugenie. Harry is fifth in line to the throne.

If something happens to Wills and Co, Harry will be the King. And Meghan our Queen.

Of course you can. In 2010 Andrew was 4th in line, Beatrice 5th and Eugenie 6th. So they were actually a place higher.

caringcarer · 25/08/2026 12:42

I'm sure I read King Charles pays for Andrews security himself. Very unlikely something would happen to Prince William and all his 3 DC because they fly and often travel separately for that very reason. The to bought of Harry as king would be a nightmare and probably the point we turned to a republic because the public would not stand for it. Look at his popularity ratings and Meghan's is even worse.

But now Archie and Lilibet are sixth and Seventh in line.

And they are the King’s actual grandchildren. Comparing Harry to Euge and Bea is ridiculous.

Used too now he is confined to the estate there is no need for extra security unless he leaves

The meaning is Lilibet and Archie will drop down and become unimportant with no duties or royal funding in years to come and will be in the same position as Beatrice and Eugenie are now. So their position is no different to the position of the York girls when they were children. They were also the grandchildren of the monarch and children of the monarchs second son

youngestisapsycho · 22/08/2026 22:52

I don’t get what him being a working royal has to do with it? He is still a royal, he’s the Kings son, his children are the Kings grandchildren… I’d rather my taxes were used to keep those children safe then being spent on the fake benefit and Pip receivers.
Also the Royal family have enough money of their own to cover those costs surely?

Edited

I would rather my taxes went to protect ordinary women from assault and making streets safer for them to walk down. He’s allegedly rich enough he can pay for it as he has been in America.
