To think if "Prince" Harry wants 5m a year of taxpayer money he needs to start twerking for pennies as a working royal again

Otherwise he can fund it himself or stay in the US?

He’s potentially more at risk than other non working royals due to his military service and didn’t he yap in his book about killing numerous people while in Afghanistan? I imagine that, combined with being son of the king makes him a target.

I can’t stand the pair of them but I do think if it’s decided he’s at risk then security should be funded regardless of him being a working royal or not. I do get the argument that it’s not his fault he’s the son of the king so why should he pay?

His dad can pay then. as it's not our fault either.

He has publicly demanded it! Four of them full time. That's going to be 5m easily in salary for the relevant officers alone.

Oh so if I publicly demand £5millio, I'll get it?

Come on woman, pally some critical thinking.

Viviennemary · 22/08/2026 21:31

I read he has already approached the Home Office asking what plans are in place for his security.

Where did you read that?

4 x 24hr cover needs something like 20 staff members to cover weekends, holidays etc.

A general rule of thumb is that a professional staff member costs an organisation twice their actual salary.

So £5m divided by 20 divided by 2 is £125,000. Fuck me sideways, if that's what the average police officer earns I'm definitely in the wrong profession.

Or maybe your maths is utter bollocks.

Royal protection officers are not “ average police officers”

Messedupmyusernameagain · 22/08/2026 21:39

Yes his dad should pay. He's paying for his dodgy brother and for his grifting nieces to stay in Royal residences already. He's a double billionnaire yet still gets taxpayer funding. £5m a year will be nothing.

Ok. How much do they earn?

Snippit · 22/08/2026 22:38

I don’t know why they’ve bothered coming back, pair of free loaders. As for Megan, she’s a Californian girl, how on earth will she cope with our grim, dull shitty winters. I wish they’d bugger off back to America, can’t abide what they did, so disrespectful, especially the book and the pathetic interview with Oprah, such a farce!

SummerNocturnal · 22/08/2026 22:43

He probably would be prepared to do that OP but the backlash is significant enough that even if Charles and William said bygones were bygones and would allow him back, public won't stand for it 🤷🏼‍♀️

poolshoes · 22/08/2026 22:45

It will come out of all the other money the RF have

AmyDudley · 22/08/2026 22:46

Why have you put 'prince' in inverted commas? Like it or not he is a prince and, as far as we know he is not a non-sweating abuser of underage girls so his title hasn't been removed. He's the son of the King, and therefore a prince.

Evidence?

It says in the DM I assume, so therefore it has to be true…

enpeatea · 22/08/2026 22:48

Don’t you all have enough to think/ worry about !

youngestisapsycho · 22/08/2026 22:52

I don’t get what him being a working royal has to do with it? He is still a royal, he’s the Kings son, his children are the Kings grandchildren… I’d rather my taxes were used to keep those children safe then being spent on the fake benefit and Pip receivers.
Also the Royal family have enough money of their own to cover those costs surely?

Sugarnspicenallthingsnaice · 22/08/2026 22:54

If the DM wasn't churning out thrice-daily articles about them to keep the frenzy of hate alive, they wouldn't need all the security that the DM is now whipping up more frothy hate about.

Have any of you tedious anti Harry and Meghan posters ever considered just stepping off the ride? Just... stop giving a shit, find something else to occupy your thoughts. You might be surprised at how much more enjoyable life can be and your loved ones might be surprised at how much less irritating you are to be around.

Liz Truss gets police security for life and entitlement to £ 115 000 a year for office supplies and staff. Again - for life.

On average £99.2k and the employer pension contributions are over 35%.

Oh for goodness sake 😂 the only reason I'm annoyed at them 'coming back' is because we are going to collapse under the deluge of batshit posts like this, and frothing at the mouth MsM headlines about it ...

And they can never stay in their own little playground for some reason.. 😕

Moros · 23/08/2026 10:35

Sleepdeprivedandcaffinated · 22/08/2026 23:43

I bundled pension contributions in to the assumption that actual employee cost to a business is 2x salary. That's on the high side of course.

poolshoes · 22/08/2026 22:56

Joke

The security isn't. Anyone who's been PM at all has potentially got access to information we don't want tortured out of them if they got captured. Lifelong security for ex PMs is in the common interest.

With you on the office and staff point though!

SaraHoliday · 23/08/2026 11:25

If this is true, he should fund his own security, in my opinion.

They are entitled to live where they want to; but not at the expense of others.

I wonder if he regrets 'burning a bridge' now?

Andrew served in the military he doesn't get tax payer funded security he also keeps his dang mouth shut

You could always suggest one in Site Stuff.
