So don’t go @youcantmakethisup
You won’t be the first or last TikToker to feel disappointed that the weather has ruined their outdoor photoshoots.
We are in Europe right now and have a great hotel window overlooking a busy plaza, the selfie lot are fascinating, curating photos that are pure make believe, it’s great to watch, and to realise it’s all make believe.
All the annoyance you are feeling has been your own mind’s doing, you post like you are some wonderful international fashion lifestyle creator but in reality it’s taken you a while to save up for this trip and you are getting cross with putting a coat in the suitcase. It will drive you insane trying to keep up with this image you have to present.
Go, don’t go, no one can predict if you will have the perfect weather at the place you are at the perfect time to create the perfect image of this perfect holiday that doesn’t exist.
We travelled to see the eclipse, it was cloudy where we were, cloudy, for an eclipse, but we thought about this and hired a car so drove to non-cloudy and it was great. No images were posted online and they never will be, no one got cross, being not under clouds was just something we needed to sort out.
So it’s up to you how you handle next week in the south of France, but really one more content creator amongst the thousands daily huffing about wearing a raincoat isn’t a big deal in the grand scheme of things, there are thousands of images of sunrise swims, reality, in sea, photo snap, out, most don’t swim, smoke and mirrors. It’s hard to muster up much sympathy for people who create these fake images online which cause more harm than good for the people who get sucked into looking at this nonsense.
