The weather has changed for my holiday

youcantmakethisup · 21/08/2026 10:18

Due to holiday in the south of France next week, and all along the long range forecast has been beautiful.

Now it’s changed. Rain every fucking day apart from the day I leave. I have to unpack all the beautiful dresses and clothes I’ve packed and change them out for rain jackets and boots. I’m fuming, I actually can’t believe it. It’s just my luck!

AIBU to just not want to go? I was due to do so many lovely day trips and now they’ll just be awful - damp and grey, any pictures I take will look awful. I just can’t believe it

Can you read?

You are being incredibly rude to people who are genuinely trying to help - to cheer you up, give you other ideas of things to do, and make you see that weather forecasts showing chances of rain each day do not necessarily mean that it will rain all day every day.

Mountainlover26 · 21/08/2026 17:13

Go and enjoy sightseeing, nice food, cafes, relaxing, a break from work, cleaning, washing, the normal routine etc.

End of August is known to be more changeable across the Med. We’ve paid the fine and taken the kids out of school nearly every year in late June/early July and never had anything other than sunshine. Majorca had terrible storms yesterday.

I imagine considering the devastating scenes in France on the news earlier this Summer, the locals are probably very happy to see some rain.

You may find the weather is wonderful.

Oh yeah, that’ll look nice on social media!

Is that all your bothered about is posting pictures on social media?

KmcK87 · 21/08/2026 18:26

If you’re going with other people I would cancel, you sound like you’ll drain the life out of anyone who’s with you.

Bluedenimdoglover · 21/08/2026 18:30

It's weather. You can't do anything other than adapt to it. I'd hate to be going with you, if you're going to spend the time winging. I feel more for anyone stuck with you for that time.

Agree. I don't normally like people being rude about people like this, but the more the OP posts, the more hard works she sounds. She lost me when she said she doesn't give a shit about the wildfires as they are 'not her problem' when someone said we do need rain to put out the wildfires.

I was sympathetic earlier, but I genuinely hope it pisses down 24/7 for the entire time she's away.

I find it hilarious that it’s apparently so far fetched that someone might actually want to enjoy their holiday, not spend it in the pissing rain!

Spend less time on social media and learn to read weather forecast.

55% probability of rain on Acuweather means it might rain for a part of the day - or not, about 50:50

If your Tiktok is your business, you made a bad business investment decision - there is no guarantee of sunny weather in that time&place.
Use your planning and editing skills to salvage it, or sulk, the choice is yours.

Heathertrott2 · 21/08/2026 18:45

Anyone else praying to the French rain gods for it to absolutely piss it down when OP is there

Smellmyfart · 21/08/2026 18:46

Weather can change right up to the second it happens, ypud be silly not to go.

GrantMyWishes · 21/08/2026 18:49

Just stop moaning and don't bother going if it's going to upset you this much. Lots of people would love the opportunity to go to France for a holiday, whatever the weather. You are being VERY unreasonable.

croisette · 21/08/2026 18:53

Sorry OP! It won’t be in for endless long wet days like it is here. It really won’t be all bad.
Hate to say it but it’s not unusual at the end of August for the weather to change on the Côte d’Azur. In fact it’s more common than not to get some unsettled days. Two years ago at the 80th anniversary of the debarquements all the events got rained off!

frozendaisy · 21/08/2026 19:03

So don’t go @youcantmakethisup
You won’t be the first or last TikToker to feel disappointed that the weather has ruined their outdoor photoshoots.

We are in Europe right now and have a great hotel window overlooking a busy plaza, the selfie lot are fascinating, curating photos that are pure make believe, it’s great to watch, and to realise it’s all make believe.

All the annoyance you are feeling has been your own mind’s doing, you post like you are some wonderful international fashion lifestyle creator but in reality it’s taken you a while to save up for this trip and you are getting cross with putting a coat in the suitcase. It will drive you insane trying to keep up with this image you have to present.

Go, don’t go, no one can predict if you will have the perfect weather at the place you are at the perfect time to create the perfect image of this perfect holiday that doesn’t exist.

We travelled to see the eclipse, it was cloudy where we were, cloudy, for an eclipse, but we thought about this and hired a car so drove to non-cloudy and it was great. No images were posted online and they never will be, no one got cross, being not under clouds was just something we needed to sort out.

So it’s up to you how you handle next week in the south of France, but really one more content creator amongst the thousands daily huffing about wearing a raincoat isn’t a big deal in the grand scheme of things, there are thousands of images of sunrise swims, reality, in sea, photo snap, out, most don’t swim, smoke and mirrors. It’s hard to muster up much sympathy for people who create these fake images online which cause more harm than good for the people who get sucked into looking at this nonsense.

BlackCat14 · 21/08/2026 19:05

This has got to be rage bait, the screen shots from the weather app OP posted show there’s a 55% chance of rain for an hour and a half a day…she’s just trying to get people riled up as surely she can’t be serious!

Moellen54 · 21/08/2026 19:13

Obviously more bothered about "likes" for photos from the sound of it.
There is so much to do in the south of France rain or not. And it really is unlikely to be all day every day so unless you are actually camping, I would pack some nice stuff too . Bound to be nice things you can do in the hotel. And some lovely markets.

MummaFlyingSolo · 21/08/2026 19:18

Based on your attitude, this seems like karma

I’m in France right now. The weather said rain - and we have had some - but otherwise glorious sunshine. The rain has been in the mornings and nights.

You will need a jumper for the evenings.

ZorbaTheHoarder · 21/08/2026 20:08

OP, being honest with yourself, do you really feel you are cut out to be a travel influencer?

I hope you do go and manage to have a good time, but l really think you should try to enjoy the whole travel experience more - with all it's ups and downs!

I don't think many Tik Tok viewers would be impressed to know you don't give a shit about the wildfires that have been raging throughout Europe.

You’re not made of sugar as a few wise people told me in my day! It probably won’t rain for most of the time you are expecting it to rain anyway as a lot of replies also say and it’s still 27/28 degrees which is so lovely and warm! Make the most of it I say as I sit in part sun, part wind, part rain and 18 degrees in Ireland. I’m frozen after getting used to the 25’s plus. Enjoy the last few days of August and if it’s hot sunshine you are after, book July or early August!

Mrstawnyowl · 21/08/2026 22:18

You can send some of the French rain towards Hertfordshire if you like. There’s been no rain in my part of the county since mid June. I will appreciate every drop.

100% this. Does anyone actually allow themselves to be “influenced” anymore seeing as we all see how fake it all is? Influencing is on its way out.

I do find it really sad that OP is more interested in getting good photos for social media than actually enjoying herself. Hoping it is someone just bored and posting ragebait.

Honestly you sound like a 12 year old having a fit about pictures and videos.

You don't want to go then don't go. But 323/380 people think yabu.
