The weather has changed for my holiday

Due to holiday in the south of France next week, and all along the long range forecast has been beautiful.

Now it’s changed. Rain every fucking day apart from the day I leave. I have to unpack all the beautiful dresses and clothes I’ve packed and change them out for rain jackets and boots. I’m fuming, I actually can’t believe it. It’s just my luck!

AIBU to just not want to go? I was due to do so many lovely day trips and now they’ll just be awful - damp and grey, any pictures I take will look awful. I just can’t believe it

Op, i cannot see the 'rain every day' forecast and I've looked at Nice, Cannes, Eze, Villefranche, Montpellier, Carcassonne, Marseilles, Antibes, St Tropez. All say high 20s, or low 30s, mostly sunny - one or perhaps two days where chance of a thunderstorm or shower is higher. This is pretty usual for that area - the storms can come quickly and be ferocious, then over with within an hour and dry again. In all the time over many years I've spent in that part of the country, I don't think I've ever seen a full week of rain at this time of year.

If you hire a car, I highly recommend the Gorge du Verdon. It's absolutely stunning.

It won't piss it down with rain all day, every day. You might have a couple of showers, but you'll still get to do everything you've planned I'm sure.

It rained and was overcast when we went there too, for 2 weeks, in July! I was so annoyed! Because of that I wouldn’t ever go back. Yes it did ruin it

It rained every day I was in the south of France but I still had a lovely time and did everything i wanted to do. I’ll admit I had frizzy hair in all my photos because of this but c’est la vie!
If you don’t think you’ll enjoy it then don’t go.

Does the weather forecast actually say 100% rain all day every day for your entire stay? Because sometimes it looks bad, but it’s only like 20% chance of rain, which means 80% chance it won’t.
Even it did rain all the time, which is unlikely in the south of France at this time of year, I think I’d have to make the best of it. Spending a lot of time in French bistros and patisseries sounds pretty class to me!

With your complete negativity towards all the lovely positive posters trying to raise your spirits (and let you know that weather reports change daily) I hope it does rain every day!

We are currently in the south of France and whilst there has already been one storm, it quickly clears and then there is sun! Next week doesn't look that bad at all? We leave next Saturday and apart from the odd day it's sunshine the whole time.

I get it’s disappointing but you have a choice to be miserable or to go with the attitude that you will make the best of it. We are literally just back from Nice - our weather was forecast to be fabulous and then it changed to rain…and then it changed back to sun the closer we got to going. We had 3 spots of rain the whole time. I hope you are able to go and enjoy. It’s a stunning part of the world.

Well where exactly are you going in the South of France?

My mate lives near Avignon and forecast is mostly sunny next week. Perpignan is also forecast sunshine. Nice is also forecast sun. So that covers east, middle and west of France, so are you going somewhere that has a microclimate all to itself with just rain??

Feels like 32 with around two hours of rain in broken intervals. Most of this rain could happen while you’re asleep. How dramatic 🤣

Why can't you do the day trips and why are you are assuming the forecast is correct?

I should also have said, I'd avoid Monaco altogether anyway as it's likely to be a massive disappointment. Hot, busy, noisy shopping metropolis with lots of showy wealth pitted against deep poverty just about covers it. I've yet to meet someone who liked it there. The botanical gardens are nice though.

@igelkott2026 Oh the bloody BBC weather app - the reason why I walked all the way to the Palace of the Kings of Majorca in Perpignan with a massive hotel umbrella (the app had forecast a 97% chance of heavy rain showers). I looked like a right wally.

BBC has it as mostly high 20s and sunny, chance of a storm or light rain on one or two days. Pretty positive by their standards 😂

If the OP is real, it shows a sad tendency of social media types to see holiday destinations as an Instagram background rather than a real place.

These places all have weather and yes it might disrupt your plans, but you make contingency.

That part of the Med does have beautiful warm sunshine, but also a lot of random and unpredictable weather. I remember being in Nimes in late June and there were high winds (like 60 mph) but as it was 33 degrees it was like being inside a Dyson hand drier - not the best weather for sightseeing or taking photos. We decamped to the (excellent) modern, air-conditioned Roman museum.

This is where social media has got out of hand. It seems a large part of your misery is due to not being able to post photos and impress people with your glamorous lifestyle. I know it's disappointing to have rubbish weather, but surely you can adapt and enjoy being somewhere different.

Pack both. I doubt it’d rain all day. I’m in London next week and I’m still packing dresses to wear. I’ll just bring trainers and sandals with me. It’s warm so a rain coat should be fine

Weather forecasts are not always right. There have been plenty if occasions in my life where a "full day of rain" has been a small one-off shower and the rest of the day has been fine.
If I were you I would still go and I would find ways to have a good time. But you sound very pessimistic. Social media isn't everything! How about museums and art galleries, local culture, shoppong, nice food in nice restaurants, meeting new people and chatting?
