The weather has changed for my holiday

Due to holiday in the south of France next week, and all along the long range forecast has been beautiful.

Now it’s changed. Rain every fucking day apart from the day I leave. I have to unpack all the beautiful dresses and clothes I’ve packed and change them out for rain jackets and boots. I’m fuming, I actually can’t believe it. It’s just my luck!

AIBU to just not want to go? I was due to do so many lovely day trips and now they’ll just be awful - damp and grey, any pictures I take will look awful. I just can’t believe it

You are not going on holiday to enjoy it, you are going to let your followers think you are having a great time 😄

Weather forecast can be wrong, weather patterns change but heyho, can't risk a dark/damp photo and your followers thinking you aren't having a fantastic time in the sunshine.😖

Don’t post pictures on social media then if you’re worried the cloud won’t look good. I’m not sure anyone else cares on social media about the weather on other peoples holidays anyway.

many places say rain but it’s showers. It’s unlikely to be rain all day every day, every single minute.

Who enjoys being in the rain? If I wanted that I’d have booked a UK holiday.

Take an umbrella, you'll be grand. It won't rain all day every day, it's not Scotland*. Maybe a jacket and one pair of shoes rather than all sandals. If you change your entire suitcase the weather systems will have a rethink and become a scorcher and you'll be stuck with your inappropriate clothing.

We discovered our first holiday away to Greece with our toddler was predicted to be cooler and rainy for part of the week. We still went and had a good time because we were in Greece and not at home. Take a couple of rainproof items and hope for the best.

Actually hoping for the best while preparing for the worst is the best policy, as there will be times it will be warm and sunny, honestly. Don't waste energy feeling gutted when it probably won't be anything like as bad as you're thinking.

Just got back from a holiday in northern France. Weather was mostly great, although a bit overcast with some rain on one of the days. The forecast on my phone was inaccurate though and was predicting worse than it actually was. Although it is supposed to be crap next week but who knows.

Photos actually come out better in the rain or cloud as a rule and instead of deciding the version of your life to present to social media, you could actually go and experience another country and its culture in the moment.

I find this very hard to read. I live in Geneva and we have not had any significant rain since May. We are desperate for rain. Today finally it rained and everyone is ecstatic.

But you'd better cancel if you are going with others. You will spoil everyone's fun as most people can cope with some adversity on hols. And what you are describing is nothing to fret over at all. But hey, you can photoshop pics these days you know, to make pics for insta sunny when it's not. 😊

You can't interpret weather forecasts for the south of Frqnce in the same way as you would for the UK. Rain in the UK tends to be more widespread and persistent. I just returned from two weeks in France. The week before I left the forecast said it would rain every day so we packed all the raincoats and umbrellas. When we were there it rained once for 5 minutes. If there is a slight possibility of rain in the area they put the rain symbol up but it can be hard to predict at this time of year as there can often be sporadic thunderstorms.

Also, I travel in France every year and use all the weather apps - Accuweather has always seemed one of the least accurate. My DD's Apple forecast usually turned out to be most accurate. I have the meteo france weather app and if you search Nice it says there will be sunshine/rain on about two or three days but when you click for more details the forecast says sunny all day and possibility of light rain showers overnight.

Okay so for example:

A sunrise swim. Can’t do that if it’s pissing rain and cloudy, it’ll just be grey.

I can’t go to Monaco and walk along the harbour, it’ll be pissing rain.

I can’t go to Menton, get a Menton tart and sit outdoors eating it, it’ll be pissing rain.

I'd be disappointed too! I think though that if you could just forget the Social Media aspect (or post some plate pics/the inevitable rainbows) you might feel a bit better. You could look up places to visit inside, including art galleries, nice restaurants, swimming pools etc and make the most of it.

If you care more about how you look on social media than the devastation of wildfires, then I suspect you're probably someone who pouts when there is minimal rain...

@youcantmakethisup waterproof jacket or an umbrella. Simple solution. Yes your social media pics won't be "perfect" but a holiday is meant to be relaxing....not a fashion show;!

Are you really this shallow? Are you 14 years old? Obviously rainy weather will have an impact on enjoyment of a holiday but photos - really!

I'm out. Selfish indulgence does not impress me much.

you can still swim in the sea. You’re wet anyway. Might be cloudy but you could still see a sunrise in between some clouds.

you can still walk along the harbour. You can use an umbrella to do so.

you can still go to menton and eat a menton tart.

All that patisserie and cheese will still be there. It won’t be cold so just take a rain jacket and take it off when you are inside.

If does actually. No glare and better colour but if you insist on speaking to me like my KS3 students, I shall do the same as I do with them and actively ignore you.
