Couples holiday grief

Please help mn I’m not sure what to do.

Couoles A B and C are going on holiday tomorrow. They are driving in in 2 cars. Couples A and B live in the same town so they are travelling together. Couple C are coming from a different direction and are travelling separately. The holiday has been split equally 3 ways and everyone intends to pay for themselves whilst there. Travel costs for petrol and parking will be approximately £120 per car. Couple A intended to pay for their costs as they know couple B earn significantly less than them (about 30k a year less) but would be happy if couple b get them a couple of drinks or similar.
Couple C have now approached Couple A and said they think it’s unfair Couple B are not paying for their travel expenses and that it would be fair to split it 3 ways. A pointed out that B do not have much money and C replied that they treat themselves plenty (which is true they are very much live for today). A feels uncomfortable broaching B for money especially at such late notice as it’s too late for them to make alternative arrangements should they want to.

Yabu B should pay their fair share
YANBU C is wrong to ask for shared costs

If I'm getting this right, C want you and B to subside their travel costs? Going thirds means that B will contribute to both A and Cs travel expenses when C isn't transporting anyone else? C is CF if I'm understanding correctly. You'd be reasonable to ask B to split fuel costs with you as you're giving them a lift. It's kind that you aren't doing that and it's nothing at all to do with C.

Couple A need to stop being so crass as to tell everyone they're doing this. It's purely between them and couple B.

Couple C should keep out of it and just be grateful it's not them being made out to be so poor that the great saviours known as couple C will be swooping to their rescue.

Christ, I'd rather have a root canal than go on this holiday! 🤦‍♀️

I agree, who told C? Would not need to come up in conversation.

We have been away before and did this C bec ame aware.

C should butt out. Nothing to do with them and pretty nuts to expect their own travel costs to be subsidised by A and B. A can do as they see fit.

Crazy.

HollyhockDays · Today 12:21

It’s none of Cs business.

BeardySchnauzer · Today 12:22

Do couple C earn significantly less than the bountiful A’s?

Snufkin88 · Today 12:23

This doesn’t make sense at all it’s nothing to do with couple C and anyway couple A sound ridiculous deciding to approach couple B for money just because of what couple C said . I don’t know if I would want to go on holiday with such a group at all

RightOnTheEdge · Today 12:23

Couple C are completely U and ridiculous.
It's absolutely none of their business and doesn't affect their travel costs in any way.

Softcream · Today 12:23

Couple A probably shouldn't have shared this info with couple C. Couple C need to get over it though.

ABoldStatement · Today 12:24

Are you couple A?

SnobblyBobbly · Today 12:24

Great way to start the holiday…

Gingercatlover · Today 12:24

C need to mind their own business, they don’t get to dictate what the other generous couple do with their money.

Yes exactly this. And it’s just the commute. There won’t be any travel when we arrive

I wouldn't want to go away with couple C, if that's what they are like.

thislittlelife · Today 12:27

This is unbelievably petty.

BeardySchnauzer · Today 12:27

That’s bizarre then. Are C badly off?

bodododo · Today 12:29

C are wankers.
It's none of their business.
Travel costs to the destination are the responsibility of the individuals. If A has decided not to ask B to pay, that's their business.

I find it hard to believe that people go on like this.

about 10k less per year than couple A

Couple C are being twats. How much are you talking anyway, £20? It’s embarrassing for them that they even mentioned it.

It's none of Couple C's business. If anything, it sounds like Couple C are looking to reduce their own travel expenses by splitting the total expense of running 2 cars by 3. Couple A needs to tell Couple C to back off.

Happyjoe · Today 12:29

When did people become so grabby and entitled? I'd never holiday with C again.

BeardySchnauzer · Today 12:30

You seem to know a lot about each others finances. This is why they say you should never discuss money!

Bumcake · Today 12:30

It’s weird that you all know each other’s salaries to this level, and that you’re even discussing petrol money.

£120 BER car so £73 ish per couple saving just under £50

Not C business at all. I’m not even sure why this was somehow discussed with them.
C sounds jealous somehow that their FRIENDS are going to be £120 better off than them 😵‍💫😵‍💫
