Reform want to cut PIP

1000 replies

Daygloboo · 16/08/2026 09:15

Reform want to cut benefits for disabled people. They want businesses to pay more towards sickness etc. I find it repulsive that they want to do this. When will people understand that they are a bunch of self interested sharks who want to make a stack of dosh for themselves while in govt and that they font give a damn about anyone in need. Why cant the most vulnerable ppl who vote for them see thus. It's astonishing. It's ac joke. I eish ppl who get what Reform.iscreally about and how it manipulates would make sn extra effort to tslk to.ppl who dont seem to get it.

You haven’t put any information about what they would replace it with, so you’ve given half a story. They would instead have a Health security allowance but only the ‘severe, enduring and high-risk cases’ would receive cash support. So those that absolutely need it will get financial support. Which is how it should be.

So how would they decide who gets this ?

I am not sure why I responded to you because there is no reasoning with views like yours or theirs.

Starpaper · 16/08/2026 09:59

It’s such a stupid ill thought out plan. They want businesses to take responsibility for sick pay so businesses will simply not employ people who have any history of MH or physical illness. So menopausal women, women of childbearing age, the disabled, the ND etc are all going to find it very hard to get jobs. The very people who need support into work. Not only that companies will surely demand to see medical records before employment and try to wriggle out of sick pay when it’s needed. Are we all going to hand them over?

Then there is the CBT they want to be given for all MH problems and physiotheraphy for physical disabilities instead of PIP😂😂😂. CBT often doesn’t work for those with ND and is useless for many conditions like trauma, EDs etc. You also can’t physio your way out of disability.

It’s so stupid you couldn’t make it up. One might think they want this announcement to deflect from something.🤔 Somebody needs to tell them the investigation into Farage isn’t going to go away. 😂

malefields · 16/08/2026 09:59

Reform may be the maggots they are, but PIP definitely needs some serious overhaul in the way it’s attributed.

The benefits bill is not "crippling" the UK. This is utterly baseless, ideologically motivated shite, designed to pander to lowest common denominator vindictiveness, and people too bloody stupid to realise they are swallowing down nonsense.

This!

Monty36 · 16/08/2026 10:02

Apparently the news bulletin says they will issue full details on Monday.

But this is what can happen when too many kill the goose that lays the golden egg. There are no more golden eggs.

Too many applications, too much cost. Result is a proposal the benefit is removed. And those who truly depend on it are worse off.

Reform clearly believe there has been over inflation of degree of severity of illness/conditions, exaggeration of symptoms to effect a benefit payment. And want to stop that.

What reform fail to realise is the extent of those applications. And it is not a vote winner for anyone who claims them. That or they are thinking that people who do won’t vote for them anyway so nothing lost.

x2boys · 16/08/2026 09:52

Yep and he tells all and sundry about it too.

I've not heard that one but there seem to be quite a few of them driving Beemers
around here Those claiming 'enhanced' level of Motability Benefit can exchange it for a Motability car worth 12 times the amount of the benefit. The most expensive cars available for drivers are on the market for up to £54,000.

Daygloboo · 16/08/2026 10:03

Somersetbaker · 16/08/2026 09:48

Interesting that Reform wants everybody back in the office, does that mean Farage might actually turn up at Westminster and vote, or be in his constituency office ever. No of course it doesn't he's even lazier than Johnson.

Absolutely. If he became PM I believe it would be a joke. In fact, if we could see inside his head, I bet he's thinking ....Bloody hell, I hope I dont win, I can't be arsed with actually having to do any work.

I don't entirely disagree with that. There have been lots of past threads discussing the pitfalls of how the PIP process is run, and the unnecessary amounts of money being spent, due to the not fit for purpose assessment process.

Meadowfinch · 16/08/2026 10:05

Daygloboo · 16/08/2026 09:31

Yeah and we all know what that means. It's just an excuse to pull the rug out from ppl who are struggling. It is such hypocrisy. Ppl allegedly taking millions for themselves in bungs while wishing to stop meagre amounts to support the most vulnerable. And all disguised as sensible fair policies . You must think we all came down in the last rain shower. And I cant imagine any of them wanting to put in the hard yards if they got into office. They'd all be wanting to swan off to other places securing deals that would make life even easier for billionaires while letting everybody else starve. Yuck.

But they aren't meagre amounts OP. Disability benefits have rocketed in the last few years when there has not been an equal increase in the rate of actual disabilities.

The U.K. literally cannot afford the benefits bill and it's getting worse. Something has to give, regardless of who is in power.

Starmer knew it but his backbenchers refused to allow any changes. In doing so they gave away the next general election.

The notability scheme is crap. We advised our disabled daughter not to have it. As an aside how do you know all these people are on enhanced pip?

Yogaandchocolate · 16/08/2026 10:06

VickyEadie · 16/08/2026 09:55

I'd love to think you were right - but their supporters are already ignoring things like ending the NHS!

Look at how the Brexit vote went too!

Dollymylove · 16/08/2026 10:06

The welfare bill needs to be addressed. The town i live in has generations of benefit claimants who have never worked and have no intention of ever doing so. They are not disabled, just bone idle. Pumping out kids every year so to keep the cycle running.
Community service is the key, I believe. People should earn their benefits, clearing streets of litter, cleaning graffiti, etc.
I know this has been brought up several times over the years but mostly shelved because of the yuman rites of these dossers to be able to sit on their arses smoking weed all day courtesy of the dwindling bunch of taxpayers who fund them all

I'll get my coat.....

Difficile · 16/08/2026 10:07

It's hard enough to convince the Government to give money to my patients as it is (severe and enduring mental illnesses), I don't need it to be any harder.

The whole idea is ridiculous and will almost certainly impact people with mental health at a much higher rate than physical illnesses and will lead to more discrimination.

Daygloboo · 16/08/2026 10:07

emuloc · 16/08/2026 09:49

Hopefully the majority of their supporters will begin to see them for what they really are. A bunch of people doing their utmost to cause division, and hate against vulnerable groups of people, whilst making money, hand over fist, for themselves, and theirs. They don't give a fig about poor people, and their issues.

👏

@Twogreenbottles I am not sure what a beemer is. People on enhanced mobility can choose a car, wav, or scooter, which best meets their needs, from the choice available. As it should be.

Why ?

Anewuser · 16/08/2026 10:08

And the reality is, they will take the benefit away before introducing physio etc. My son had a physio for his whole childhood but when he became an adult the physio service disappeared because he was too disabled for them. Physio in adulthood is for one episode of care, such as a broken leg etc. Long term disabilities don’t fit their narrative.

Reform never have cared and never will care about disabled people because they don’t see the contribution they can make to society. Does this sound like another leader from 90 years ago?

winter8090 · 16/08/2026 10:09

Too many people are claiming disability benefits when they could be working. The stories about mobility paying for luxury cars understandably aggravates those who work hard and pay high taxes.
Also people with school age children claiming universal credit and working part time not increasing hours because they lose credit and therefore there is no incentive. The system needs reformed whilst protecting our most vulnerable.

I beleive this is who reform wil go after.

The next general election isn't for three years.
Meanwhile Farage faces investigation into why he didn't declare a £5 million pound 'gift' now.

SodOffbacktoaibu · 16/08/2026 10:10

Daygloboo · 16/08/2026 09:58

I'll tell you why....because they are not interested in getting disabled ppl in to work. They dont care if disabled ppl just disappear. That's what ppl dont get. ThEY DONT CARE. They dont give a stuff about Britain. It's just part of the manipulation. Do you thonk any of them want a pint down the local with the working man. Do me a favour. They probably all go home and have a long shower after having been within a mile of a working person. Or lie down in a darkened room for days to recover. People need to wake up to what they are really sbout.

Oh I agree. Farage just wants to asset strip the country for his own ends. But people swallow the lies, don't they? It's the migrants, it's the disabled, it's single mothers, it's <inset vulnerable group here> .... It's never the generational wealth tax dodgers, the dude bro tech billionaires, etc etc.

For some reason these modern days Bond villains like Musk and Bezos are looked up to by many working people. The likes of Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage have pulled the most incredible con trick in convincing the working class that they are somehow on their side, they are anti-establishment when they ARE the establishment. Turkeys voting for Christmas indeed but people are being manipulated on a scale that is unprecedented. Targeted news stories and bespoke information pushed at us online. Everyone falls for it to an extent. That's why everyone is angry and shouting in their own echo chambers.

Meta etc and the legacy media...they all profit from keeping people ignorant and angry.

So care to tell us how businesses being forced to pay the first 2 years of sickness is going to help? So none of us can go off sick.Ive never claimed sick pay and have been paying taxes my whole life. Why shouldn’t I have help from the state if I go off long term sick? How is this not going to mean companies are going to simply discriminate when employing and avoid anybody with a history of ill health or who fits a demographic that might mean more likelihood of ill health?

It’s hysterically stupid.
