To expect everyone at my wedding to stick to the colour scheme?

I'm having an autumn themed wedding. I've asked everyone, all the wedding party, family and all the guests to wear autumn colours - brown, orange, yellow, red etc.
Some of the men want to wear grey suits but I am upset by this because I don't see grey as an autumn colour. They say they will wear autumn coloured ties and accessories but I said I want the suits to be in Autumn colours
Is this unreasonable?

I don't know why more people don't do this. 😊

The thread gallery on this one did not disappoint, ladies. 🤣

I can't believe you are being serious. It is not the bride's business to dictate what guests wear. Just be glad if no one wears white. Weddings are becoming ridiculous and marriages are getting shorter.

Like this?

This is a joke I presume

Screamingabdabz · 15/08/2026 22:18

When I was a kid growing up in the 70s all wedding photos looked like that. Dull browns and oranges. It didn’t give ‘autumnal’. It gave awful.

Random321 · 15/08/2026 22:18

This level of self indulgence doesn't bode well for a happy, long lasting marraige.

OttersOnAPlane · 15/08/2026 22:19

If anyone turns up in an unauthorised colour you could throw one of those camouflage nets over them.

Namechangewegovyjune26 · 15/08/2026 22:19

Will this do?

To expect everyone at my wedding to stick to the colour scheme?
Ethelspagetti · 15/08/2026 22:19

People want to buy clothes in a colour they like so they can wear it again! You are being unreasonable to expect guests to only buy the colours you like! Grey suits are lovely!

blackrabbitwhiterabbit · 15/08/2026 22:21

Pleeeeeaase tell us this is a joke.

Or a reverse?

Your partner should run for the hills.

Yes, it is unreasonable. Suits are expensive.

TheWytch · 15/08/2026 22:23

Totally

No one will ever wear a suit in those colours again - even if they are able to find them.

Is this a jokepost?

Besidemyselfwithworry · 15/08/2026 22:24

Unless @Autumnalbride you intend to pay for everyone’s clothes this is beyond mental

my dp has one suite and it’s grey as he doesn’t need one for work and so it does all occasions and we absolutely wouldn’t be going out to buy another one at the request of some batshit bridezilla

Dont be so ridiculous

redknittingyellowknitting · 15/08/2026 22:25

Nah, no need to cough up a small fortune on a new outfit. How about one of these for less than £20 on Amazon

To expect everyone at my wedding to stick to the colour scheme?

OMGitsnotgood · 15/08/2026 22:25

I’m hoping this is a reverse. It’s your wedding, you can do what you want but people don’t have to accept the invitation. Good way of cutting the cost of the wedding I guess

sweetchill · 15/08/2026 22:26

I fear op will not come back to this one if it is real. It’s a nice idea in theory but perhaps youve not thought through the practicalities. In the main that you are expecting virtually everyone, particularly the men, to buy a new outfit for your wedding. Which is quite an assumption.

Firetreev · 15/08/2026 22:26

This is hilarious! I hope someone turns up in a gold suit, a metallic one.
