To expect everyone at my wedding to stick to the colour scheme?

I'm having an autumn themed wedding. I've asked everyone, all the wedding party, family and all the guests to wear autumn colours - brown, orange, yellow, red etc.
Some of the men want to wear grey suits but I am upset by this because I don't see grey as an autumn colour. They say they will wear autumn coloured ties and accessories but I said I want the suits to be in Autumn colours
Is this unreasonable?

Is this a reverse? Only a total Bridezilla would try to impose this. You can pick colours for the bridal party, but only an utter control freak would try to do so for ordinary guests.

Grow up

SquirrelGG · 15/08/2026 22:27

I can't believe you even need to ask! Of course YABVU, expecting people to fork out for new clothes just because you are getting married. As for being "upset" because some men want to wear grey suits, the suits they presumably wear on many occasions and will get their money's worth from - well, there really are no words.

Would you rather people came to the wedding in clothes which don't fit your silly ideals, or that they simply didn't come at all due to your nonsense? If someone dictated to me what I wore their wedding I wouldn't have to think twice what my response would be.

I would go as far to suggest you are hardly mature enough to be contemplating something as serious as marriage if this is what you are focusing on.

Come back OP!!!!! This is very funny and I'd love to see your response.

Are you paying for these autumn coloured outfits/suits that your guests will never likely wear ever again?

AnnaQuayRules · 15/08/2026 22:30

This has to be a reverse

Queenncat · 15/08/2026 22:30

YABU. Themed weddings are an abomination.

UnintentionalArcher · 15/08/2026 22:31

😂😂😂

Great thread. I love the thought of all those yellow and orange suits.

Switchnow · 15/08/2026 22:31

This is a great theme! I hope all your guests follow it and I especially hope you’re dressed as a tree, because that way the theme makes complete sense.

UnimatrixZeroOne · 15/08/2026 22:32

Click / rage bait. No one is like this in real life. Best not to engage.

SereneGoose · 15/08/2026 22:32

Autumn colours are mostly sludge with hints of grey...life's about the grey with tones of sludge ...get over it ...i can't believe you are for real.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 15/08/2026 22:32

Perhaps also suggest all guests put crepe paper in their pockets and bags so they make a rustling sound as they move about.

And have squirrels handing out a welcoming sherry on arrival at the reception.

Chickadee26 · 15/08/2026 22:14

Literally shit.😂

I know from a rather expensive personal impulse buy that no white guy looks good in a brown suit...I looked like something a dog deposited in 1975

SquashPenguin · 15/08/2026 22:33

Are you from the United States?

loulouljh · 15/08/2026 22:35

Yes. Unreasonable. Who cares what people wear.

Queenncat · 15/08/2026 22:36

'And have squirrels handing out a welcoming sherry on arrival at the reception'

Awww I'd wear an orange and yellow dress with brown flowers if it meant I could go to a wedding staffed by squirrels!

Elfbeth · 15/08/2026 22:36

Good one op 😂

Cluelessfirstimer · 15/08/2026 22:38

I wouldn't come

CeciliaMars · 15/08/2026 22:39

You’re being ridiculous. I get telling the bridal party what to wear, but don’t try to dictate to all guests. Don’t be that bridezilla.

KnittingBasket · 15/08/2026 22:40

I hope these autumn weddings catch on.
Instead of composting my garden leaves in autumn I can sell them for a fiver a box as confetti.

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 15/08/2026 22:41

Autumn is my season. I have "autumn" colouring. I LOVE eearing autumn colours!

It's still a No from me. You can't do this to your guests. Expect either numerous people to decline,, or to accept and ignore your diktat completely.

Lostdaughter66 · 15/08/2026 22:42

They would look like Oompa Loompas ! Lol 😂 absolutely ridiculous. The most important bit is getting married don’t lose sight of that !

quaintireneofrye · 15/08/2026 22:42

Elfbeth · 15/08/2026 22:36

Good one op 😂

Quite!

AutumnLover1990 · 15/08/2026 22:42

Yes. Suits are expensive. They will wear what they already have. If you're that fussy, buy the suits yourself.🙄
