Hey.

just for context, I’m 29 and my friends husband who I’m talking about is 39. My friend is 35 and my husband is 33. Just for context, it’s not really about age- but it might show some maturity / immaturity later on.

we used to all get on as a group, did lots together with our kids, even went on holiday - but since I got a promotion at work and gone full time again after my 2 children, my friends husband has really had a problem with me.

He’s turned really rude, and just not enjoyable to be around, actually very insufferable.

I am really bothered by a few things that I’m reading on Instagram, he seems to be digging at me indirectly & has even put something quite mocking up.

for example;

  1. when I got oasis tickets via the ballot… he put a Instagram story up saying ‘it’s clear to see the answer to the question of ‘how many times have you seen oasis before via the ballot was 0!!!!👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼’
  2. I have started running, for my health - mainly mental health, and I’m running the marathon for my little boys charity ( he was born prem with a few complications ) - I put one progress picture online, proud of me.. and then he went out of his way, to clearly download a TikTok to add to this Instagram story, mocking runners…
  3. the recent solar eclipse, I put a few pictures of my kids smiling with their eclipse sunglasses before it even started & the sunset after it happened online for family to see, and then we watched the whole thing via the glasses- not that I need to justify myself but half of my family are in Australia and it’s the easiest way to see eachother sometimes it was fallowed by another Instagram story, saying ‘why are people taking pictures and not watching the eclipse themselves?’

i just feel absolutely fed up with it, it’s like a knee jerk to everything I put up- he obviously has a bug bare and it’s clear he thinks women are beneath men. I can’t believe my friend married him. I don’t know if I am being unreasonable… but wtf, I’m more bothered why my little ( quite plain and normal )life is bothering him so much.

i feel like I can’t say anything because of my friend, but I really need want too. My husband is saying to delete him from seeing my stuff- but I just don’t want to let this get in the way of mine and my friends friendship.

my husband did say ‘is she even a friend if she’s seeing her husband doing this and not asking who it’s about and why?’ - but again, I think he’d mute her anyway!!!

ugh! Advice? Haha x

Block husband. Then don't explain, don't complain- like the Queen. Your friend may realise he is an arsehole later.

GreenCaterpillarOnALeaf · Today 14:39

He just sounds fucking weird, and a bit obsessed. I’d pull back from the both of them, he seems to want your attention for one reason or another… don’t give it him. Mute him and mute his stories, you not viewing them will probably drive him mad.

This. You don't have to put up with his weirdness so don't.

JMSA · Today 14:41

He’s not happy in his own life and is projecting. He is jealous and bitter.

jeaux90 · Today 14:42

Yeah just block him from seeing anything you do. He’s an asshole

AMurderofMurderingCrows · Today 14:44

I wouldn't be able to stop myself putting up a post saying 'when your friend's husband is obsessed with you' 🤣

But don't do that. Like PP have said, don't mention it at all and just block him completely - that will piss him off no end.

mumlearningtorun · Today 14:45

Thank you! I’m glad others think it’s weird, I can deal with not having a relationship with the guy, I can keep my friendship seperately in most things- but the digging & mocking online just feels so strange.

I'm not doing anything completely out of the ordinary either that deserves an opinion? Concert, running and solar eclipse with my kids?

its all bizarre!

EnigmaticEnid · Today 14:46

Just block him, and if your friend asks why act baffled and say your social media is full of glitches

Honestly, anyone else and I’d be calling it out straight away- but I really do love my friend- but if the shoe was on the other foot, I’d be telling my husband to stop what he’s posting, as it’s weird and cringe regardless, especially if it was clear about a friend of mine!

Block the weirdo
Threatend or some strange
If hes a prick to you in person ask him what is the threat and smile.

Picklelily99 · Today 14:54

Does he fancy you?
Have you spurned him?
Have you got a better job than him?
Do you earn more?
Does he think you're up yourself?
Men can be delicate little flowers sometimes, with super special egos that need massaging from time to time - and maybe, like the rest of us, you just can't be arsed with that!

I mean I don’t know the answer to any of them - apart from, I’m not up myself, I’m just happy with my little life. Whether he thinks that’s a brag? Who knows, but I don’t have anything to brag about other than happiness? 😆 I really don’t have a lot

Christ OP he clearly has too much time on his hands. Can you restrict his access to your profile or block him and then not say anything unless they raise it.

Cherrysoup · Today 14:58

Guy’s an arse, just block him. It’s a bit odd having a friend’s Dh on your socials. I wouldn’t have allowed this in the 1st place. She’s your friend, not him.

LogicVoid · Today 14:58

Do you know for certain if your friend is seeing these posts?

Starrylawn · Today 14:58

You have main character syndrome. In two of those examples he could be talking about any of the presumably hundreds of social media friends/ influencers etc he follows.

Makepumpseleven · Today 14:59

Just restrict his access. Act confused if anyone mentions it and wander off vaguely saying you’ll look into it.

chirrupybird · Today 15:00

Can't you just post a rebuttal, like took the pictures before and after too busy watching during the eclipse. Same with running, doing it for my son's charity, I'm clearly not much of a runner, depending exactly what his dig was. Just knock him back politely if he says stupid things. I have no idea what the Oasis thing meant I would have just posted ??? in reply to that.

Howyoudoings · Today 15:05

Me being me I would most even more stuff to wind him up so me and my husband could lol at him .

Kingunderthemountain · Today 15:06

I would post a story that said, ‘you might not like me but you sure enjoy watching my stories’

I know that’s stooping to his level though, or just block/restrict him from seeing what you post in the future.

Likeiloveyou · Today 15:06

Just block him on everything.

Well considering it’s happening about 30 minutes to an hour after my posts & seems to co-inside with mainly the things I do & never comments about things I don’t do. Even one of my friends went ‘is X story about you?’ - I don’t think it’s me creating myself as any main character, trust me- I don’t enjoy this I find it creepy.

NorthFacingGardener · Today 15:09

Those are very generic events though and probably his whole news feed is full of people posting about them, not just you!

He just sounds grumpy tbh, I’m not convinced there’s enough here to be sure it’s actually directed at you.

Gross - What a weirdo!! I would block him too!

I think he fancies you - A bit like the movie Love Actually!

I do think the three things you’ve listed are probably the most popular topics people have posted about on social media over the last year, so it could be that he’s generally irritated by everyone jumping on the same bandwagons rather than specifically targeting you.

Still ridiculous behaviour by him, he should just let people be. But it would be really weird if it was targeted specifically at you.
