Butt on display at lunch in south of France

flipperfizz · 11/08/2026 13:32

I am currently having lunch in a beach restaurant and a girl with a lovely toned body is wearing a tiny thong with full ass on display. This seems to be a fashion thing and there are lots of women wearing the same cheese cutter! People are staring and some women are laughing. I find it a horrible trend and I am wondering what others think.

Brazilian cut bikinis are all the thing aren't they? I'd rather they weren't tbh as I don't need to see women's arses constantly on show any more than I need to see men's arses. It might just be skin but a cock and balls is just skin and I don't want to see that on the beach either.

I'm also amazed that people don't know that you can get proper restaurants right on the beach and that it must just be a cafe. Not sure that that makes any difference though, if I'm eating food I don't want to be seeing people's bum cheeks and I definitely don't want them bending over in front of me. That is just gopping.

It’s a restaurant though. Presumably people are sitting on chairs or stools? That’s the point as far as I’m concerned. I think there should be a layer of fabric between her butt and a seat for public use.

if she were sitting on the sand…that’s different.

The fact that the restaurant is on the beach is beside the point. Hygiene would be my issue.

shuggles · 11/08/2026 15:57

@flipperfizz I am wondering what others think.

Why are you wondering? Do you seriously not know what men are thinking when they see this?

SadiraOfTyr · 11/08/2026 15:57

MyDarlingRose · 11/08/2026 14:23

Of course I remember. I am only 31. But people didn’t wear them at work last time I checked

Plenty did, although possibly inadvertently. Pretty much impossible to avoid if you combine low rise jeans with a thong and a job that involves bending down a lot.

Honestly, how many times does it have to be pointed out that this woman is ON A BEACH.

There is no restaurant.

No-one is inside a restaurant.

They're sitting outside a beach cafe.

The beach cafe is on the sand.

<< Breathes into paper bag >> 😁

Is the bare butt woman sitting on a chair/stool or just digging her backside into the sand? This is the point.😄

ILikeYouToo · 11/08/2026 15:58

I don't care what anyone wears in general. I'm sure the woman in question looks lovely. But I categorically don't want someone's essentially bare arse on a chair I might have to sit on next to have my lunch. It's just a matter of hygiene when it comes to shared facilities/food. With toddlers they'd be putting their hands on the chair, dropping food on it...gross.

And for those who keep commenting 'she's on the beach' - yes, but in a cafe WITH CHAIRS on the beach, according to OP. So sitting down?

I don't worry too much about other people's germs when out and about as otherwise I'd never leave the house, but if I was going to I'd be much more grossed out at what you've described here touching my chair than a bare bum in bikini bottoms.

Parents would normally wipe down a chair when they leave if their kids had dropped food on it...if this woman has her baby wipes handy and is wiping it after her bare bum has been on it, then fair play, I'd feel better! And personally I'd much rather sit on a dropped chip than someone's sweaty bum juices! 😂

WorthyMintKoala · 11/08/2026 16:04

I was at a well known British holiday camp during a school half term in winter months and a girl was wearing one. I did think fine if you’ve got it flaunt it while you can but in an appropriate place and time which I did not personally think that was.

Have you never sat on a sunlounger?

flipperfizz · 11/08/2026 16:05

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 11/08/2026 15:34

But she’s on the beach! She’s at a beach bar /cafe, she’s said the chairs are sinking into the sand. And hasn’t answered if other people are in swimwear as well, or if this thing lady is the only one in swimwear. I think the problem is the size of the swimwear, not that she’s wearing swimwear. Which is odd. No one seems to be wearing a full pant this summer!

Everyone else was covered up.

@Needaloo @Viperregency yes I am aware it's next to a BEACH. I was asking if she was topless as that wasn't mentioned in the OP.

Posters who keep saying it's normal in the South of France are talking bollocks.

I'm from the South of France and it's definitely not normal there and would be very much frowned upon.

Yes of course, but nearly everyone puts a towel down first surely? I do, so it would never be an issue.

That’s a whole other debate. I actually dread to think.

No, I don’t go to swimming pools. I know people who work in leisure centres and I avoid these human soups like the plague.

As I’ve said a few times, I don’t care if the seats are on the moon - I would like a layer of fabric between the arse cheeks and the seat. I would consider it courtesy to others and a sign the person has a grasp of basic hygiene.

Honestly. It s beach cafe, seats 'sinking into the sand'. We aren't talking about a thong in a high end restaurant. Unclench.

Sadcafe · 11/08/2026 16:10

Beach cafe, on the sand, guess she was sunbathing, don’t see the problem and seeing though the cafe hadn’t said anything, clearly they don’t either

GreenCaterpillarOnALeaf · 11/08/2026 16:10

Personally I don’t care. I own a pair of Batty Riders myself and when it’s hot I wear them. Probably won’t have many more years of toned bum left, so I want to live. I know a lot of people don’t like it but no one has ever said anything to my face so 🤷‍♀️. Obviously wouldn’t wear them going round the Vatican but that’s different, on the beach I don’t think it matters.

Gloriia · 11/08/2026 16:12

I tell you what is far more inappropriate. The op and <allegedly> others laughing at a young woman. Just awful bullying behaviour.

I wasn’t laughing! Others were and men were staring.
