Butt on display at lunch in south of France

I am currently having lunch in a beach restaurant and a girl with a lovely toned body is wearing a tiny thong with full ass on display. This seems to be a fashion thing and there are lots of women wearing the same cheese cutter! People are staring and some women are laughing. I find it a horrible trend and I am wondering what others think.

I have worn thongs under my clothes when I was younger and found them extremely uncomfortable. Wouldn’t wear one in a million years now .
i wouldn’t sun bath either its an incredibly foolish thing to do for your health. Best slap on the factor 50 I say. You don’t have to worry about the white bits when everywhere is white that’s what I think anyway .each to their own but not something that should be encouraged from a public health perspective

I do have kids. Of course we discuss things like this. How do you show them what’s acceptable and what isn’t otherwise? You teach children table manners, you teach them what’s appropriate dress. It’s called parenting.

Teach them good manners, tolerance and kindness as well as what beachwear you think is appropriate.

@gotitsoiflauntit i don’t think fashions should encourage people to engage in risky health behaviour . There is absolutely no good reason to wear a string going up your bottom like that anyway . I can’t think of any anyway . getting a tan is a very very poor reason. It does not justify it in my opinion at all. It’s “comfy” is absolute bull and you know it and I know it . Don’t bother trying to persuade me it’s comfortable because I know it’s not

It’s just to attract sleazy guys because this poor woman thinks she has no other options open to her. Maybe she doesn’t. Sad all round.

Well it does, because we have established that not everybody finds them uncomfortable. Presumably they are the ones wearing them, like me. The ones that do, like you, don’t.

Whether or not this young woman wants to attract sleazy men I’m afraid that’s exactly what she will do - pps upthread have suggested that their partners would be interested.

I’m not saying this is OK - but it is reality, as several people on here have indicated.

As long as this girl is aware - OK. We don’t live in a perfect world.

So, in the interests of public safety, what are you proposing for acceptable beachwear? Wellingtons, wide brimmed hats and burkinis? Surely anything less would be irresponsible. From you point of view, at least.

The only knickers I wear are thongs and I’ve been wearing them comfortably for years. I doubt I am alone. Thong bikinis are no different.

I just don’t think tanning is something to be encouraged among young women or anyone else . It’s worse for your skin than smoking and it causes cancer . It’s not a good reason for a ludicrous fashion of displaying private parts to everyone

Wow, so many new posts since I left this morning (plus a lot of deleted ones too!) I will try to catch up, but there’s been some interesting and somewhat lively discussion. Those worried I’m not getting much sightseeing done you can relax. We have been to Monaco, Villefranche -Sur -Mer and Menton today and I can confirm that Cap Ferrat has more bare backsides of all different sizes on show than one could possibly imagine. Pleased to report back that at lunch, all bottoms were covered!

There's clothes, shoes, make-up etc I wouldn't let me DD wear, much like I wouldn't get her cocktails or wine with lunch. That doesn't make it inappropriate for me to wear or consume though. For reference I'm 39 and wear thong bikinis, they are a lot more comfortable to me.

So this poor young lady in her thong that everyone was laughing at was just a one off, not the norm? This really should've just hadn't shrugged off at the time.

I do judge . I judge people for all sorts of things and this is one of them . You can’t just tell people “not to judge” life doesn’t work like that . We all have different beliefs and standards about various things , that’s the way it is . I am sure people judge some of the things I do and that’s outside my control.
