AIBU to worry about taking enough sunscreen in cabin luggage?

I've never been overseas before.
Going to Greece in 2 days with 2 little DC.
Easyjet.
We are taking cabin luggage only.
100mls restriction for any lotions.
I am really worried about sunscreen for DC.
What do people do?? I00mls sunscreen wont last 2 weeks for both DC, as I'm planning on smothering them in it every couple of hours and every time they get out of sea.
I've been told it's twice the price or poor quality to buy in Crete.
Can i buy it at Gatwick or will they ban me from taking it on the plane?

To those who can’t get their heads around hand luggage only - I took a month long trip when my dc were 2&4 back packing, we had (for 4 people) 1 23kg suitcase, 1 35litre back pack, both dc had mini backpacks (which hung on the back of the double buggy) and we had a back pack cool bag. More recently (kids now grown) I went away for a month 2 up on the motorcycle, you have about the same space as a cabin case plus a handbag ish. Managed fine, easy to wash when it’s hot

1. Buy some at LGW
2. Next time do a click and collect so you don’t have to worry about what’s in stock. You can do this for all your toilettries if you wish.
3. Power to you going with just hand luggage! I could not 😂

We are exactly opposite when it comes to packing 😂

Would suggest rash vests or full body swimsuits... Much more protective and also reduce ur volume of suncream..
Can get good ones from frugi/mountain warehouse/next etc... loads of places.. seperates are easier with swim nappies if little ones
Would get before so they're used yo wearing them... Although my dc preferred to sun cream!
We had sensitive skin so took face but bought body stuff at the boots... As they don't count airside purchases... The boots all day stuff was good,/tolerated on body but stung eyes!

I go away 4 to 5 times a year, including when when my son was a 2 month old baby. I have never, ever taken sun cream with me! Most of the shops in Crete will have a ‘Nivea’ rack which is where I get mine from or once you’ve been through security at Gatwick just get it from boots. The 100mls doesn’t apply after security!

Buy it at the airport or when you get there? Not a drama.

Once you’re through security you can buy what you want! So buy 4 bottles once you’re through and extra on holiday if needed. EasyJet usually allow an item of hand luggage and a bag from duty free shopping.

You can do an online order from Boots which you can pick up at the airport after security etc? I always order all my holiday toiletries that way so that the liquid limit doesn't apply?

We're doing hand luggage only & I'm taking liquids that will see me through our holiday & i can then leave/recycle my larger bottles before we come home

I’ve been to Crete 12 times. They have sun cream in pretty much every shop you go into. You’re massively over worrying.

Not what you asked, but I would SERIOUSLY rethink getting at least one piece of luggage to put in hold between you.
Majority of hotels don’t allow their towels to be used by the pool, and certainly not taken to to the beach.
Youll need changes of clothes, hats, shoes etc.

With regards to sun cream it’s perfectly fine to buy there. It’s Greece, not the end of the world.

Whatever you buy airside in an airport does not have to be under 100mls.

you are able to buy litre bottles of alcohol in duty free, how do you think you get those on the plane?

I thought we were allowed over 100ml of liquids but each bottle must not exceed 100 ml.

A lot of hotels have pool towels specifically to be used at the pool and by the beach. I do t think OP is talking about using the bathroom towels

I have been on over a dozen flights in the past year (including Gatwick) and I didn’t know that the new rules meant you no longer are restricted to 100ml 🤦‍♀️. EasyJet info is generic .When you come back you will probably be following anyway

Unless you are going to an uninhabited island there will places galore to get suncream.

We bought little travel squeezy pots, Amazon will deliver tomorrow, and decanted our large bottles into several small ones.

But there was only two of us adults - two children as well and you'll need a LOT of little bottles.

Also if you have never flown before there is a big difference between cabin baggage you pay for and cabin baggage that is free. The free option is generally under the seat in front of you and even the smallest hard shell suitcases can be a challenge.

I took a duffle bag to Porto for four days (just me) and packed a jersey dress, trousers, four t shirts, two evening tops, underwear, ballet pumps and cosmetics (I wore jeans, trainers, cardigan and coat on the flight) and only just fit it under the seat. Our flight , both directions was actually delayed due to a lot of people thinking they could get away with the free baggage option and then it not fitting.

Hay, I think you might just be stressing here. Sunscreen is widely available everywhere. We normally don’t bring any (other than my face sunscreen) through security and just buy it at the airport. It’s a bit more expensive but I can live with it.

Chill out and get ready for a great time. I think maybe this is just misplaced stress because you’re gonna have to go through the airport with two small kids (which is always stressful). Have a wee pint in the departure lounge and get into holiday mode. ❤️

You can buy all major brands in Crete, just buy from a pharmacy if you’re really worried.

Or buy a couple of bottles at Boots once you get through airport security. Once you’re through security no one cares what you have in your hand luggage as it’s been purchased there at the airport rather than being brought in from home.
