AIBU to think it’s a bit hypocritical that people are protecting her when she’s visibly unwell, saying that commenting on her body is wrong, but people take free reign to comment on plus size women’s bodies?!

Oh FGS!

This is not a fat vs skinny debate - I feel there are 2 important issues here. Public scrutiny is 100% to be acknowledged when a) a clearly underweight celebrity with an eating disorder is glamourising and showcasing that ‘aesthetic’ to her huge fan base with the consequences that may have and b) people see her and worry about her mental and physical wellbeing - it is like watching someone wither and fade in real time - it comes from a place of concern and even (dare I say it) safeguarding.

She needs rest & support - it’s a wise decision she is making and I wish her well 💜

Anorexia is indeed a very serious illness, and I’m sorry you went through that with your child. Mybest friend died as a result of Anorexia when I was 16 so I have some understanding of the issues.

But it’s not possible to diagnose Ariana from photos, and she has said herself she’s healthier now than when she was thinner (her statement not mine). Bodies change for lots of reasons.

It’s also not accurate to say she’s being ‘made’ to perform- if she were medically unwell, the tour wouldn’t be going ahead.

We can acknowledge the seriousness of anorexia without projecting it onto someone whose health we don’t know, that is part of the problem, openly critiquing bodies when we have no inside knowledge.

It's not just the weight though is it. It looks like all sorts of MH issues. She has had facial surgery, her nose is getting narrower all the time. Where she once had a sexy image that she embraced she now is gone more girly and younger. She speaks in a child like way, often in a very artificial put on voice. She reminds me of Michael Jackson to be honest.
