AIBU to be deeply concerned about the recent influx of 30k+ undocumented arrivals in Spain?

AIBU to feel really unsettled by the recent news coming out of Spain and Ceuta? Reports are showing that tens of thousands of undocumented migrants have crossed over in such a short window, completely overwhelming local infrastructure, reception centers, and security forces.

I know migration is always a sensitive and compassionate topic, but looking at these numbers practically, I don't see how any European border region can absorb 30,000 to 50,000 arrivals almost overnight without severe strain on public resources, local housing, and emergency services.

What worries me even more is the precedent it sets for the rest of Europe and the UK down the line. Surely there has to be a firm balance between humanitarian support and actual, enforceable border control?

Am I being completely unreasonable to view this as a serious policy and security crisis, or are others feeling equally concerned about where this leads?

Would love to hear honest thoughts on how this should actually be handled!

Why do you think they will all head for the UK? Migrants from North Africa tend to go to France, because they have a language in common. Thiss entire thread is a load of scaremongering.

Regarding North Africans moving through Spain and into France, well there is a Presidential election there in 2027 and Marine le Pen is a favourite to win. Remember who she is and what that means for mass immigration. Her time might have come.

Interestingly, there has been an effort by various actors to loby the Trump administration to recognise Ceuta (and Melilla) as Moroccan territory, ever since Spain refused to allow the US to use its airspace during the Iran conflict.

Back March, just after spain closed their air space to the US, the AEI published an article that said that "Moroccans should gather, send bulldozers to the border, and then enter Ceuta and Melilla unarmed to raise the flag. Sánchez and the Spanish press bleat, but they have no grounds to act. Nor, for that matter, would NATO, even if Moroccan forces entered the towns to restore order and organise the dispatch of settlers across the Strait of Gibraltar and back to Spain."

While, Congressman Mario Díaz-Balart submitted a report to the House stating that the US should recognise that Ceuta and Melilla are subject to longstanding Moroccan claims, and that the administration should encourage negotiations between Morocco and Spain over their future.

They have returned - there was never any intention to stay. The whole thing was orchestrated by the Moroccan authorities.

Oh and NYT also interviewed Moroccan nationals who said authorities were directly encouraging border crossings and telling people that the border had been opened.

I get that, like Gaza people have died with this border crossing which is always sad. And its alarming seeing Morocco using people as political pawns like this again, especially when the world generally feels more volatile with a lot more warfare in recent years. But it's not the first time it's happened and they are just being sent back across the border. The death toll of people in Gaza is far higher and nastier, when you see them deliberately bombing schools and hospitals. It sounds like the border crossing deaths were accidental at least, which makes me worry less.
