AIBU to be deeply concerned about the recent influx of 30k+ undocumented arrivals in Spain?

ChirpyUmberBiscuit · 31/07/2026 13:17

AIBU to feel really unsettled by the recent news coming out of Spain and Ceuta? Reports are showing that tens of thousands of undocumented migrants have crossed over in such a short window, completely overwhelming local infrastructure, reception centers, and security forces.

I know migration is always a sensitive and compassionate topic, but looking at these numbers practically, I don't see how any European border region can absorb 30,000 to 50,000 arrivals almost overnight without severe strain on public resources, local housing, and emergency services.

What worries me even more is the precedent it sets for the rest of Europe and the UK down the line. Surely there has to be a firm balance between humanitarian support and actual, enforceable border control?

Am I being completely unreasonable to view this as a serious policy and security crisis, or are others feeling equally concerned about where this leads?

Would love to hear honest thoughts on how this should actually be handled!

What do we stand for?

Hahaha another woke lefty dumb comment. What does any nation stand for? Or are you trying to claim every other nation has a culture except Britain?

Stupid comment 🤣

Well the previous Govt of 14 years with it's numerous PMs huffing and puffing about migrants actually did nothing so anything this Govt did would automatically be better

Who has denied that?

ShautyMels · 03/08/2026 21:21

No UK gov wants to be seen as "evil" for breaking "international law"

LuckyHazelFox · 03/08/2026 21:29

This thread is officially now a parody. Anything this government does will be "automatically" better than the Tory government.

We’ve even descended into the “what’s British culture?” posts. I bet these posters do love, however, benefits culture . Perhaps that is indeed in their opinion what Britain should be known for.

Yeah. Exactly! We have so many historical land marks, ancient walls/ roads, lots of history, amazing cities, beautiful costal areas, our breathtaking countryside, different regions with different dialects….food, literature, music, museums etc. So much to see and do, yet all they can think about is drunken Brits and I’m sure they do love the benefits system seeing as that’s all that seems to be on their mind when they think of Britain 🤣

These people are a laugh a minute but as a proud Brit I’m not going to be told we don’t stand for anything while they try to dismiss and gaslight us into thinking we have no culture and don’t stand for anything…. so the woke left can go stick their “what do we stand for?” shit up their arse.

This migration crisis is being fuelled by birth rates. Africa has the highest birth rate in the world, and the African population is going to double.

Err it’s not the birth rate fuelling the migration crisis. It’s war, authoritarian regimes, persecution, climate disasters, mineral extraction, arms sales that are fuelling the migration crisis.

If we believe that we become more susceptible to unlimited immigration.

It’s both. The population of the African continent is set to increase by half by 2050 and double by 2070 (see UN figures).

There will be untold pressure on resources and land. There will be insufficient food and water. Also China and Russia have bought up vast tracts of mineral-rich areas, and to “wage war” against the West will only need to drive millions of people towards Europe.

An additional problem is the Islamist push in African countries - forcing conversion or death, the extreme subjugation of women and girls and the drive to have very large families without means to support them.

angelos02 · 04/08/2026 12:02

The government still aren't listening. Apparently the solution is legal routes. Where are all these people going to live? The UK's quality of life is in freefall. Having more people here isn't going to improve that. No-one ever answers the question of 'how many is too many'?

Dappy777 · 04/08/2026 13:19

Of course birth rates play a role in migration. In parts of sub-Saharan Africa, women still have five or six children on average. That leads to huge, overcrowded slums that people want to escape.

I wish Africa well, but there comes a point when you have to take responsibility. It isn’t my fault that African women don’t use contraception. Africa has the highest birth rate in the world, and the African population is going to double, right in the middle of climate change. Where are those hundreds of millions of Africans going to go? Europe!! My home town is now so crowded I could scream. The roads are hell and the countryside is being ruined by endless new housing estates.

On top of that, mass migration profoundly changes a society. Small scale immigration is fine. It really can enrich you. But mass migration is different. No one asked for what has happened, and no one voted for it. Multiculturalism has been IMPOSED on Europe.

I know but these lefties just want to shut you up. Funny as they are the most vocal going when they want to condemn anyone they say divides Britain when they don't care about the integrity and heritage of UK. The biggest dividers are the hard left.

You do make me have a little chuckle really. Are you a Historian? Which parts of English heritage are you so keen to protect from lefties/ refugees?

According to you lefties we don’t have a culture and we don’t stand for anything anyway so why are you so bothered? 🤣 Or is that another cheap shot that has no relevance to the post you quoted?

Why are you talking to me like I’m stupid? I know where Ceuta is thanks! I was responding to you because you said they would need paper work to enter Spain. People also need paper work to enter the UK too… but a lot destroy theirs before making the journey via dinghy to the UK and are still allowed in! Not sure which part of that you didn’t understand?

How many illegal entries have been made from Ceuta to Spain? I'll save you the bother of looking this up...virtually zero.

What relevance has that got to do with what I said? I was talking about paper work!!!!! If you can’t respond with an appropriate answer to what I’ve said then don’t bother responding because I don’t have the patience for this all around the houses shit 🙄

You seem to have a bee in your bonnet about "paper work" - so let's make it clear so even you can follow...If anyone is in Ceuta they need the correct documents to go to mainland Spain. Very few (if any) have managed to get to Spain as they didn't have the correct (or eporhaps any) documents. Virtually all those who entered Ceuta illegally a few days ago have returned, willingly or not, to Morocco (apart from those who sadly died, of course).

So you don't need to get your nickers in a twist like several Reform politicians have about those illegal entrants to Ceuta arriving at Calais or Dover any time. Clear enough?

Errr no it was you who mentioned about people not being able to get into Spain without “paperwork” so don’t twist it on me and say I’ve got a bee in my bonnet

And my point is, anyone wanting to get to the UK also need the correct paperwork. Yet people are able to come here via boat without paperwork. That is all. No need for the round the houses irrelevant info

The rest of your post is irrelevant. And it’s you who’s getting your knickers in a twist keep going around in circles making irrelevant points in your replies other than the one I made 2 days ago. Can’t believe you’re still arguing with me about such a simple point I made.

So they coming over to what, rape European women? In countries with much harsher sentences for violence towards women than possibly their own countries?

Well, it's hardly stopped migrants doing it before. Were you not aware of the NYE when 1200 German women were sexually assaulted on one evening in attacks echoing the ones seen in the middle east?

Oh dear you seem to find it difficult to understand that there is a whole difference between travelling from Ceuta to mainland Spain and from France to the UK. Perhaps Geography wasn't your strong point at school?

ShautyMels · 05/08/2026 18:40

What would France do if a boat went the other way?

What the hell are you talking about?
You keep bleating on about people needing paperwork to get to Spain from Ceuta. But you’re missing my point when I said people also need paperwork to get from France to the Uk but they somehow get into the UK without paperwork! So your argument about needing “paperwork” for an illegal migrant doesn’t stand up when they destroy their paperwork and still get into Europe regardless.

Not once have I ever mentioned that I think Ceuta is in Spain or France! I didn’t mention anything about Ceuta or Morocco at all, I was simply making a point that your argument about paperwork is flawed when they are destroying documents but can enter a country anyway and claim asylum, whether they are coming from the Middle East or anywhere else in the world! Is my point really that difficult to understand? Are you going to keep banging on about Moroccan migrants can’t get into Spain without paperwork again? If so don’t bother because it’s irrelevant to my point.
Im not dumb! I know where Ceuta is! I know where Spain is. I know where France is. And I know where the UK is! However, you are making a complete fool of yourself arguing with me for 3 days about a point you have completely missed!
Have you got that now?
Jesus wept! 🙄
