AIBU to worry about large numbers of undocumented men arriving in Spain?

Thousands of young men from Morocco and beyond swimming to Spain. Spain obviously has encouraged the problem with their amnesty for existing migrants, but thousands more arriving with no means of support and undocumented is going to cause huge problems. Large numbers will no doubt be ultimately trying to reach the UK.

It’s harsh, but we cannot accept infinite numbers of men.

Yes, I absolutely don't think Spain should have workers being exploited and breathing in all sorts of pesticides and weed killers on those enclosed polytunnels.

They should be safe jobs that pay at least mimimum wage, and only offered to migrant workers if there's a genuine shortage of locals to do them.

The Spanish government have turned a blind eye to the exploitation of migrants for decades because it's propped up their food export industry.
Perhaps this mass visa regularisation was an attempt to address that, but it was badly done, as unfortunately it doesn't distinguish between some poor bugger who has been wrecking his health for a decade in a plastic tunnel, and some sketchy criminal who makes his living tanning cars or selling drugs in Barcelona.

Depends, really. Morocco is peaceful for instance, just poorer than Spain.
A lot of the workers probably come from countries so piss-poor that the tunnels are the good option.

@DoraSpenlow - this happened to some people I know, from Southall. First they got a letter through the door saying the neighbours wanted their house for a relative , then an unfriendly visit; they were quite intimidated and sold their house to the neighbour. And moved away from the area.

The most they got was a letter poked through asking if they were interested in selling because that's suggested on here all the time as a way to find out if something is about to go on the market.

It is not the same at all. I’ve had letters through the door from hopeful buyers. It is quite different when men from the street are on your doorstep asking to your face to sell up.
