90s film recommendation for 16yr old

Over the last few weeks DD16 and I have watched a film or a series together a few times a night.

I'm not a big TV person (we wouldn't have one at all if it was up to me) but this has been lovely. She normally just hisses at me or asks for money so I'm enjoying this before normal behaviour resumes. 🤣

What films/series would you recommend?
She is quite eclectic and I dont care but some 90s films would be good to relive my youth.

She likes:
Fallout series
Schitts Creek
Heartbreakers
Pitch Perfect
Fallout Guy
Sliding Doors (this was left field but she really loved it!)

She didn't like
Warm Bodies
Shakespeare In Love
Top Gun
Dirty Dancing

I'm trying to get her to watch The Last of Us and Stranger Things but she's refusing on principle because we wouldn't let her watch them when they first came out.

She's all that!

Some of these have already been said but...

  • Clueless
  • 10 Things I Hate About You
  • Election
  • Blast from the Past
  • You've Got Mail
  • Addams Family Values
  • Death Becomes Her
  • Being John Malkovich
  • Scream
  • The Craft
  • The Faculty (The Thing but with teens, and then you can watch The Thing afterwards!)
  • The Sixth Sense

And these aren't 90's but are very charming:

  • Singin' in the Rain
  • Amelie

Freaky Friday!! Such a good film which I have re-watched lately with teens, before watching Freakier Friday.

Would "Debbie Does Dallas" be suitable?

Series..vampire diaries, so good my 11y loves it. Recent film we watched was letters to juliet ohhhhhh I was crying 😢 she loved that too.

My 16 year old niece watched the series Supernatural on my recommendation. She is now besotted with Jensen Ackles, and she is on her second re watch of the entire series, all 15 seasons of it! Though personally, I thought after season 5, it wasn't as good.

Would "Debbie Does Dallas" be suitable?

No. As it is from 1978 it is therefore over a decade out of scope for 90s era films

The second one came out a few years ago, it's on Disney+. My daughter prefers it to the original, but it didn't hit right for me. A third one coming soon I believe.
