... just so shocked that they never told me about this. Recently been put in a hugely embarrassing situation because of their determination to keep things under the carpet. Am a bit stunned tbh.

I think they should have told me, AIBU?

Depends on what the secret is.

Sparkletastic · 25/06/2008 21:34

can only be judgy with more to go on

Flum · 25/06/2008 21:34

love child?

wannaBe · 25/06/2008 21:35

what is it?

waffletrees · 25/06/2008 21:35

YANBU - but you really are going to have to spill to get any real judgement sympathy from MNers.

TooMuchTurkeyMakesMeSleepy · 25/06/2008 21:36

Depends what it is.

Flibbertyjibbet · 25/06/2008 21:36

Grr I hate it when people tell you half a tale.
HOW CAN I DECIDE IF YABU OR YANBU IF I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE FARK YOU ARE ON ABOUT!!!!

alicet · 25/06/2008 21:37

SPit it out then! How can we tell if YABU or not without knowing what it's all about?

I can think of scenarios where you are both reasonable and unreasonable depending on what is going on!

TooMuchTurkeyMakesMeSleepy · 25/06/2008 21:38

You could name change and start again telling us what it is??

We won't mention this thread..honest!

alicet · 25/06/2008 21:38

Well put Flibberty. That's what I meant!

ivykaty44 · 25/06/2008 21:38

Your father/mother has another family living a parellel life with siblings you didn't know about?

spill?

umberella · 25/06/2008 21:38

far too vague!

what are we talking about here?

SNormaStanleyFletcherInit · 25/06/2008 21:38
MrsTittleMouse · 25/06/2008 21:39

YANBU. Our family has been quite prolific (sp?) in skeletons. I'm sure it's not easy to find the right time, but they should have found the courage before now.

OneLieIn · 25/06/2008 21:39

Come on, let's have a competition to guess.

I will start....

Your dad is really your mother (and had a sex change)

ivykaty44 · 25/06/2008 21:39

Your brother/sister has a child you thought was your brother sister and is really your niece or nephew?

Hulababy · 25/06/2008 21:39

No idea - need more info to say

mishymoo · 25/06/2008 21:40

Aargh I hate threads like this! Just tell us what it is so we can judge if YABU or not!

used2bthin · 25/06/2008 21:40

My parents did this sort of thing to us. Still don't know secrets around my Gran's life/death, also I only found out by accident last year that they aren't in fact married. My uncle came to visit my DD after she was born(so actually thats the year before last) and asked my Dad casually whether him and my mum ever got round to getting married, my Dad said no then looked at me and burst out laughing. The stupid thing is I always thought it surprising that they had (I thought)married as they don't seem like the type to bother!

Divastrop · 25/06/2008 21:40

YABU untill we know what the skeleton is!

eekamoose · 25/06/2008 21:40

Very long story. That's why I didn't post it all. Major concern is principle of mum and dad not telling me things that happened in close family only one generation ago. I know its hard to judge. Do you have a couple of mins to read the story?
