Little House - hilarious??

got a phone call from my sister yesterday afternoon and she asked me what I was upto. I told her I was just watching Little House on the Prairie and she burst out laughing, shouted to her husband that I was watching it and he started howling. I said “what’s funny?” And she said “little house on the prairie!” ????

Anyway since then I’ve had multiple messages off her just saying little house on the prairie with a crying laughing face, messages of BIL asking if I’m still watching it with a laughing face then this morning I woke up to a picture message of the original show and laughing faces. I’ve been ignoring them but I’ve just seen she’s put it on Facebook and a number of people have put laughing faces?? I don’t get it!?

Back to the thread topic, I enjoyed the new series and am looking forward to the next season. The Osage history is interesting and I did a some reading about it last night.

white washed from the perception of the storyteller and is therefore bias even if that’s not the intention.

it’s great to hear the other side and how those directed affected and involved really feel.

I’ve enjoyed the r series but it reminds me to watch it as a drama and not a dramatic history lesson!

@OkieUSA are there any books or films or TV series you would recommend that might educate us a bit?

I see a lot on Social Media about the Choctaw Nation sending money to Ireland during the Great Hunger in 1847. I often think about that. There is a film or a book on that. I think there is a documentary coming out soon too.

I don't think I could bear LHOTP now but I watch other TV programmes that wouldn't be cerebral enough for many.

Have you watched Heartland? It was the type of show I would have watched on T4 on Sunday mornings in the 1990s.

I loved the original as a child,and I am now watching new one! Husband watching and enjoying it too ( he usually goes for martial arts,super heroes,zombies)...when he went to bbq at friends to watch football,he got sniggers too when he said he'd been watching it..some people think it's a bit twee. n naff..but i reckon most of them are closet fans!....be loud n proud,we are!!

to be honest at work they “smiled” at me when I mentioned watching it - but to be fair they are addicted to Love Island so different genre . I think it says more about your sister than you (and not in a good way)

I absolutely love heartland!! I’ve got quite into ranch style series. I’ve done all of the Yellowstone franchise.

I presume you mean you're watching the new version that's just launched on Netflix. I've only seen the first episode but I'll definitely watch the rest. This version has gone back to the original books and is an adaptation of those, rather than a remake of the "Ma-Pa-Halfpint" version from the seventies. I hope you enjoy the whole series.

I bought the series on dvd a few years back to watch with DD2.

LHOTP were fav books & tv series of mine as a kid.

I’m a child of 70s and watched it but barely remember. I’m watching now and loving it. I love a good historical drama.

I don’t ( personally , but it’s a long time since I read the books ) think it’s following the books very well as I don’t think Mary was that old , she looks a teen , I thought she was about 8 when they moved to the prairie
Anyway , a nice comfort watch , and I wouldn’t be sniggering at anyone watching it , far better than Love Island !
