Is this racism?

Basically I was at the pub in the pub and nobody was behind the bar.

I was first in line.

An elderly couple come and and then another man who slams his glass down.

When the bar lady asks "who is first"? I replied me.

The elderly couple say "we have been waiting ages".

And the man next says "I didn't see her".

I felt this was due to me being mixed race.
I felt quite intimidated.

I only popped in for a drink whilst OH has the kids.

I feel any shaken up as the only ethnic person in the place.

It's nonsense like this OP which means that many people no longer give a shit if they are called racist. The definition of racism has widened so much that it is fast losing its power.

The response to an accusation of racism is, more than it ever used to be, "So What!"

This may not be a bad thing.

AND? Ffs. Even if that was the case, so what.

You really are one of those deluded undoubtedly Reform supporters

And you sound like an utter racist with your "white replacement" rubbish.

It’s not happening”

“Okay, it is, but so what?”

Are you going to complete the usual third step and tell us

“Actually, it’s a good thing”.

You make a lot of very confident but incorrect statements in your posts to me. I’m not a Reform supporter.

It’s interesting that you characterise actual measurable and officially published demographic statistics as “white replacement”.

It may not be a bad thing to allow racism to flourish?

Ah you want to go back in time then? 1930s sounds right up your street.

You are a nasty piece of work.

MissBeans83 · Today 09:38

Where did I say that was right? The police failed in their duties and would have done the same thing if Henry Nowak was black.

Either white people are allowed to have an opinion on whether something a person of colour says in racism is in fact racism, or not. You seem unclear.

I am very clear.

It is not for you or I to decide the OP's experience of racism.

You seem uneducated in diversity and inclusion?

Therefore

It was not for the police to decide Vickrum Digwa’s experience of racism. They were correct to believe him unquestioningly.

JFC, can we stop with the right wing = racist bollocks? The Tory party have had two leaders of colour ( and four women leaders), whereas Labour has only had white men lead the party.

I know if you vote left you think that makes you non racist but there’s a fuck tonne of racist attitudes on the left.

I don't know. I've never noticed it but I'm not a POC.

NotAnotherScarf · Today 10:46

Palomiino · Yesterday 18:05

No it’s not. It isn’t very nice but white people can’t claim racism when white supremacy is still the default.

Then what is it? It mentions colour and its discriminatory.

Would you say that a Roma Gypsy can't be racially abused?

And what motivation did the Asian grooming gangs have in targeting white children

Let's not start on a Barbary slave trade in north Africa

ColdAsAWitches · Today 10:53

You don’t believe white people will be the minority in the not too distant future? You think the calculation should only look at immigration figures and not birth rates? Have you looked at the trends over the last few decades? In the 1960s whites were 95-97% of the population. Now we are 83% and the percentage will continue to decline, with or without immigration.

From the linked article:
Meanwhile, only 53 per cent of births last year were white British babies (down from 64 per cent in 2007).

Calling basic factual and statistical information racism is bizarre.

It's racist because you're making out that a white minority is a bad thing.

@Shoopshawady The Wetherspoons where I live (25 minutes away) is really nicely decorated, the food is nice and the staff are really friendly. It is always full.

However it did only open last year.

The one I visited today was awful and half empty, and just looked like it needed a good deep clean.

The one by me is the biggest in Europe and it’s lovely if you sit outside just not inside!

HowManyHints · Today 11:05

Don't be silly, @MissBeans83

I am sure that almost everyone on this board agrees that racism is a bad thing.

However, when the definition of racism expands to contain nonsense like the OP's post then that is a bad thing.

It is a bad thing because it dilutes the definition of racism. People find themselves accused of it for absolute nonsense or they read that a cry of false racism can lead to a young white man dying in the street.

When this happens they conclude that the definition of racism has become so wide that everyone will be accused of it at some point or other, so it becomes no big deal. They reasonably say, "So what!"

That will eventually lead to people saying "So what!" when the racism is real and serious.

That is why calling every woman and her dog racist is a bad thing.

You are part of that problem.

The more you over react with cries of Nazis and the ilk-to this non incident of the OP-the less seriously you will be taken.

So, it has started to eat its own tail.

That may lead to the definition being narrowed and made reasonable once again and that is why looking for racism everywhere may be a good thing ,as it will reign it in as people care less and less for being called racist for things like general rudeness or reading a copy of Enid Blyton's Noddy.

So, calm down, get with the programme.

You are part of the problem that will eventually lead to a growing number of people no longer caring about being racist whether they are or not.

It's racist because you're making out that a white minority is a bad thing.

Is it racist if any other group of people want to remain the majority in their country? No. It’s completely normal human nature. It’s only racism if it’s white people. As I said above, any other group can advocate for their groups interest, but if white people do so, we get called racist.

Except they did decide. Racism and hatred is a crime, therefore they acted accordingly at the time.

What part of that do you struggle with?

Your attempts at defending racism get progressively worse.

Correction... OP's PERCEIVED experience of racism.

If its not intended and merely misconstrued she can cry racist all she likes, but it would be incorrect.

Edited

I bored out after your first sentence.

Purplecatshopaholic · Today 11:53

I was believing you until you said you asked them to check cctv. Seriously? Bonkers. If this happened it was unlikely to be racism, it happens all the time in pubs up and down the country, although of course it could have been, we weren’t there. However, it was considerably more likely to be ignorance or stupidity, or perhaps they didn’t see you, etc.

Ah so you are unbothered about being a racist?

I would say people love being around you, with the exception probably of your equally EQ challenged family perhaps.
