To ask about totally inappropriate behaviour at wedding?

Was at a seemingly lovely wedding at the weekend. Beautiful setting and lovely ceremony.

One of my friends was chief bridesmaid and she had put so much effort into making the day perfect for the happy couple. But she started to drink a lot after the ceremony and by the end of dinner she was very tipsy and all over the singer from the wedding band. They had been playing some acoustic songs throughout the day and she kept making requests. It was obvious she fancied him.

Later on, one of the other guys from the band was lovely and asked if I had seen their singer because they were setting up for their evening set. I mentioned that my friend was also missing so went to look for them together. We joked that maybe they had eloped or something.

But nothing prepared me for what I was about to witness. Behind the outdoor toilets, my friend was down on her knees giving the singer from the band oral. I was mortified and the other guy from the band told me his friend had done this a few times. We are not even sure if they seen us and I’ve been too embarrassed to bring it up with my friend.

On the up side, the other guy from the band was really sweet and we danced a bit later that night and swapped numbers.

What is the craziest thing you’ve ever witnessed at a wedding?

OP just made me laugh.

Most inappropriate thing I've seen as a wedding. Big venue room overlooking a lake, with a balcony. Myself, DH, friend, friends DH, bride and groom, all sitting on balcony catching up with a few drinks. Went back inside to find the room empty. Staff told us there had been a huge fight between the two families, room (including the cake) was trashed, and they'd all left. 😳
The six of us spent the next two hours putting the room to rights.

I don't think you attend many weddings, do you? I'm quite aware my friends have sexual impulses, and don't necessarily chose the people or the moment i might choose to exercise them in. I don't get exercise about that. My good friend could blow the entire band as long as she was enjoying herself as far as I'm concerned.

The band member did presumably need to find his singer to start playing again, but as it was obvious to you both that your friend and the singer were together and probably having sex, and her bridesmaid duties were over, I don't see (1) why you went looking for her in the first place and (2) why you are shocked they were engaged in a sexual act.

Even in a hoary old classic like Four Weddings and a Funeral, Lydia the bridesmaid says she 'was promised sex', that everyone told her that being a bridesmaid meant sex.

Attended lots of weddings all over the place.

My friend was flirting with the singer. Why on Earth would I jump to the conclusion that would end up in a sex act before his band even took to the stage?

If that’s your standard then we can only agree to disagree.

I don't think 'classy' sex is a thing. I once had sex in a bunker on a golf course beside a hotel I was attending a wedding at. I mean, I don't recommend it...

Tricky stuff that sand 😁

Cyclebabble · 06/07/2026 15:58

Not much of a story. Come back when she is giving him a discrete blow job when he is trying to sing.

Notallthatx · 06/07/2026 15:58

Ballotine · 06/07/2026 15:49

It was in no way your business to reunite the band member with the singer. Of course you were being nosy. You say you were joking with the other band member about them having eloped together, so you knew perfectly well they were together somewhere, and that as she'd been all over him earlier, that it was likely they were having sex. You knew what you were going to find. If you were 'shocked' by 'what you witnessed', that's on you.

Excuse me but I was asked by the other guy in the band to help so it became my business.

The joking was because I thought it a crazy thought, from like a bad romcom. So yes, to actually then see that graphic act was almost unbelievable.

‘Inappropriate behaviour’? I thought this sort of thing was typical!

You said the band had been playing acoustic songs throughout the day because your friend was making requests and that she was drunk and 'all over' the singer, so surely it's not a matter of them not having 'even started their set' or you being terribly surprised that sex was on the cards?

I think from your tone and mention of 'standards', we just don't think of sex in the same way. If two consenting, single adults want to have sex, there's no reason why they shouldn't. Even if the band singer was being unprofessional, if the other band member mentioned he'd done this before, presumably the band is OK with it, or at least not enough to fire him.

EmeraldShamrock000 · 06/07/2026 16:01

It was in a semi private area. Don’t say anything to her, she didn’t blow him off on the dance floor.
There is far worse stories on the thread.

Perfectly possible to say 'Sorry, not my problem!' and let band member search for his errant singer. I mean, it was literally not your problem, any more than it would have been if one of the waiters went AWOL or a passing dog ate a tier of the wedding cake.

I asked ChatGPT after reading the OP where it said they were in relationships

no mention of relationships re singer or bridesmaid

no mention of relationships - bridesmaid not bride

Playing during the day but yet to start their proper night time set.

My issue is nothing to do with consenting adults so stop trying to minimise it. Do I have to spell it out. She literally had his penis in her mouth in public at one of her best friend’s weddings. How is that ever appropriate?

Kerrylass · 06/07/2026 16:07

A friend of mine attended a wedding once where a male guest had a few too many before the ceremony. As the bride walked up the Isle, he shouted "don't do it"

He had to be asked to leave!

The same guy you danced with later, so the bride had two friends trying to hook up with the band members?? Lovely.
The lads probably do it at every event.

Yes by don’t compare me to the chief bridesmaid. I danced with this guy and we are actually planning a date soon. Totally different.

Double negative the original comment would mean they are both married. If neither are unmarried then both are married.

Where?

What harm. You will probably end up doing the same thing just a longer lead in time. If neither of them are married, why not? Why was there outdoor toilets though, that’s the only bad thing.

I was at a wedding once and the bride and groom texted just before it, (on the day itself) to say they didn’t want gifts, they just wanted money. They then had an argument at the wedding itself. That was the worst behaviour I have seen.

Knew of one where the groom shagged one of the bridesmaids on the big day.

….going to a wedding is the making of another …

people meet and do things at weddings all the time. I think you need to relax. If they were single then, good for them.

Why not? Is she too low for your liking or standards? Maybe your standard of hooking up with a man on a whim is another woman’s idea of easy slutty behaviour.
Don’t look down on her.
