To ask about totally inappropriate behaviour at wedding?

Was at a seemingly lovely wedding at the weekend. Beautiful setting and lovely ceremony.

One of my friends was chief bridesmaid and she had put so much effort into making the day perfect for the happy couple. But she started to drink a lot after the ceremony and by the end of dinner she was very tipsy and all over the singer from the wedding band. They had been playing some acoustic songs throughout the day and she kept making requests. It was obvious she fancied him.

Later on, one of the other guys from the band was lovely and asked if I had seen their singer because they were setting up for their evening set. I mentioned that my friend was also missing so went to look for them together. We joked that maybe they had eloped or something.

But nothing prepared me for what I was about to witness. Behind the outdoor toilets, my friend was down on her knees giving the singer from the band oral. I was mortified and the other guy from the band told me his friend had done this a few times. We are not even sure if they seen us and I’ve been too embarrassed to bring it up with my friend.

On the up side, the other guy from the band was really sweet and we danced a bit later that night and swapped numbers.

What is the craziest thing you’ve ever witnessed at a wedding?

Why would you go looking for them? Assuming they're both single and were now both "off duty" after a busy day.

You might not have expected what you found, but they were hardly likely to be playing tidliwinks.

As I stated, the guy from the band needed their lead singer to get ready for the set. Yes, the chief bridesmaid was technically off duty but the other bridesmaids were still going round chatting to people.

It is not the act I’m shocked about but the timing of it. Couldn’t she have waited a bit?

Sounds totally par for the course. 😂 My mum’s 50 year old friend nearly went home with dh’s 27 year old cousin at our wedding. And my maid of honour (maid, so obviously single so more power to her!) took dh’s friend back to the cottage where she was staying with my family and shagged him on the sofa after my mum and stepdad went to bed. My lovely 70 year old auntie (who is also single and was travelling around Europe for 6 weeks after, so came prepared!) chucked a condom down the stairs to them. 🤣

My uncle and his new son-in-law got drunk and then fell out massively at the reception. There was a huge physical fight which started with just them but ended up with most of the men in the room being involved. It required stitches and the calling of an ambulance/police with the issuing of a few public order offences.

My Uncle decided to manhandle his daughter, the bride, home, and the police were again called as he steadfastly refused to let her leave the house for her honeymoon.

It was incredibly out of character for both of them (and all the guests as a whole) - my uncle is a quiet, studious and very gentle person and the groom is a golden retriver of a man. Neither of them has said what caused the row, but to this day they are very frosty with each other.

lol. Weddings are wild. Could have been worse.

Happy couple posing for photos in the leafy arbour outside. Bride's father passes carrying someone's luggage from their car, and jokingly gives them the middle finger as he goes. Amusement all round. The photographer kept it in!

I wouldn't find that funny, personally.

Friendlygingercat · 06/07/2026 14:08

When I was at secondary school I passed a church to get there. One day there was a traveller wedding and some of us stopped to see the bride come out. While they were taking the photos two of the guests started a fight and others joined in. I felt sorry for the poor bride because her new husband was one of those involved.

When I read threads like this it truly amazes me that there are absolutely no boundaries for people now.

I know that drunk people having sex in toilets is nothing new. What is new is people thinking this is normal and acceptable behaviour.
To me it's just plain sordid.

And please spare me the odious " pearl clutching" comments. I unashamedly would be disgusted at people behaving like rutting animals at a wedding celebration.

Lurkingandlearning · 06/07/2026 14:11

I'm guessing the other guy in the band led them to the back of the outside toilets as, from past experience, he knew where his friend might be. And he did have reason to look for him as it was time for their second set.

For me though, any kind of sex behind a portapotty [or a dumpster] is inappropriate, unseemly, desperate all sorts of Nope. Surely the band came in a van 😀

Shoola · 06/07/2026 14:14

At the weddings I went to in my 20s no one would have batted an eyelid at this. They were basically big drunken parties and none of the marriages lasted. The weddings in my 30s were smaller, more curated and staid. It would have been more out of place at those.

If neither of them are unmarried, why not?

That's a very weird take?!

Whats weird about 2 single people getting together at a wedding

I wouldn't find that funny, personally.

It's kind of irrelevant though because everyone in the story did, and they all knew each other so they probably knew that it would be found funny.

chocoluv · 06/07/2026 14:26

I’m assuming she isn’t your friend anymore considering how outing this thread is.

I personally would judge him more in this situation as he was being paid to attend the wedding and he was a man in the ladies toilets.

Each to their own 🙄

He was actually behind the toilets.

I don’t think she is aware anyone knows. They were not in the toilets but round the back of them. It was an outdoor wedding with marquee.

I am not excusing the singer’s behaviour at all.

No it’s not.

I have posted this before but the wildest thing I have seen is the MOH actually getting a ride on a dock with a married guest in broad daylight. She was married too.

What did I miss? (seriously, you have seen something I missed - not meant as rude)

Chatgpt

No. The post doesn't say whether either of the people involved—the chief bridesmaid or the singer—is:

  • Married
  • In a relationship ("attached")
  • Single
It only describes their behavior at the wedding. The only additional detail about the singer is that another band member says he'd "done this a few times," which suggests a pattern of hooking up at weddings, but it doesn't indicate his relationship status. So based on the text alone, you can't infer whether either person was single or in a relationship.

Double negative the original comment would mean they are both married. If neither are unmarried then both are married.

wishingonastar101 · 06/07/2026 14:46

My boss got married years ago and invited me and her assistant. The assistant was invited with a few jobs to do - so pay the hairdresser, tip the driver etc. My job was to drive myself and the assistant to the venue and home the next morning .. Only I couldn't find her! She was meant to share my room but went on a coke binge with the grooms men.. she had lost her dress & shoes and I had to get her out of the hotel and into the car wearing a sheet with out our boss seeing.

Esmeraldathe3rd · 06/07/2026 14:46

Ah so what 🤷 love is in the air and all that. At least it wasn't on the dance floor or the groom.

ruolocretaw · 06/07/2026 14:47

Yes, it's gross. He wasn't off duty. He was supposed to be getting ready to perform—in a different way. And behind the toilet wasn't exactly private! Anyone could have overheard them or even wandered past and gotten an unwelcome eyeful. It's nasty.

Right, I think this is fairly tame by wedding standards! At least they were enjoying themselves! It's much worse when bad behaviour sours the day. I've seen a bride's mum have to be escorted out because she got so drunk she started shouting obscenities over the speeches. And at another wedding the bride and groom had a huge row upstairs of the dining room but we could all hear them (they were divorced within 18 months). Both of those were kind of sad and much worse than this.
