Decoy Wedding?!

McSteamyorMcdreamy · 03/07/2026 19:32

Apologies I haven't gone through any individual topic to see if there are threads.

But with all the shit in the world going on, and true escapism is anyone else thoroughly excited about the "potential" TS/TK nuptials?

I find I'm far too invested! Pathetic to be so interested? Very possibly but I don't care!

Again apologies if there's already something going... If there is can someone share!

You ran a lesson based around some pointless celeb wedding? Bet the parents loved that. I guess it’s never too early to introduce small children to inane celebs and their lives

I’m not really a TS fan myself, but as a retired teacher I think this is a fun idea for a lesson. 😊

It feels a waste of money to me, but yes, if you have that amount spare I suppose they think it’s worth it and they give a lot away as well.

It seemed like a waste to me as well, but then someone pointed out to me that it's given a lot of work to a lot of people.

Nope for me. A decoy wedding would be a disgusting show of needless excess and waste. I would be far far far more impressed of they had a wedding at a farm in front of 200 of their nearest and dearest.

Gratuitous displays of excessive wealth arent my go to on a Saturday.

Much of me agrees, but this circus has given a lot of work to many companies and individuals. People working the actual events are also probably on double or triple time for working over the Fourth weekend.

i am deeply invested too.
told a year 1 class that taylor is getting married tomorrow.
then we spent a phonics lesson thinking of words with /ay/ or /or/ in them.

year 1 class were almost invested. i was neck-deep in invested-ment.

What’s good idea! Bet they’ve never been so engaged!

Taylor's not inane. She's so talented that she had an after-school job writing songs for Sony at the age of fourteen. She has written most of her songs herself. And she got a record deal while at school, meaning a lot of work writing songs for that, and still graduated from high school with the perfect grades. Her songwriting is complex and there are university courses devoted to it. She's a musical genius. She's the very opposite of inane.

She also seems to be a lovely person. People who knew her at high school have said there's not a mean bone in her body and that she hung out with everyone at school, not being cliquey at all. And she turned off the surge pricing for her concerts, when she could have left it on and made lots more money. And she donates countless millions to charity.

Not inane at all. No way would a man with her exact talents and record and personality be as roundly insulted as she is. A man with a body of work like hers would be hailed as a genius, But because she's a woman, people don't say that about her, but just insult her instead.

maxslice · 04/07/2026 04:56

I think for some people, it’s a welcome distraction from all the awful crap that’s going on in the world. It’s a happy occasion and a large spectacle. It’s just fun. It’s harmless. I’m not deep into it, but let’s let people enjoy a bit of glamour.

I know who they are, but I’m not exactly sure which sport he plays. And I can’t name any swift songs but maybe I would recognise them if you hum one?

Maybe they’re the US version of the royal family?

Yes, It’s an American kind royalty.

New Yorkers are pissed off because the security and closures have been insane and caused a lot of disruption. A more rural location would not have had this impact 🤷‍♀️

There are road closures and disruptions in loads of places all the time though - for football, races, processions, gigs, etc. It’s just part of life in general nowadays. Irritating but not a big deal. I live in a relatively small town and there’s some roads closed for something a few times a year.

As a parent, if my child came out of school with a phonics rule firmly embedded as a result of this lesson, yes I would love it.

mermadeincornwall · 04/07/2026 06:05

I'm watching the press hoping for a massive photo dump soon.
Love a wedding

Just heard they've married at Maddison Gardens

Cupcakegirl13 · 04/07/2026 06:20

She invited Greg James when she went on his show last and I’ve checked his Insta and he’s only blooming there 🤣 I love this !!

SoScarletItWas · 04/07/2026 06:30

I wouldn’t call it a decoy. I’d call it the ‘public’ version (by which I mean the massive celebration with all their celebrity guests) of a small and private marriage ceremony that’s already taken place.

I read that there’s no application for a marriage license in MSG filed on this date, so whatever they’re doing inside it isn’t the official stuff.

Agree with PP that MSG was ideal to avoid the drones, helicopters etc. And NYC can deal with the disruption caused by an influx of paparazzi and required security in a way that a small rural town near a ranch could not.

Personally I’m more interested in her music than her life (but I’ve said on the LOAS thread that I did not need a song about his dick). I am interested in her frock!

All completely true. It amazes me what men can get away with and still be respected and offered work and how little women have to do to be condemned.

There’s no joke as such, @firstofallimadelight - I’m just kind of saying that even though I don’t know much about Taylor Swift, she’s still brought a small ray of her catchy light music into my domestic grind. And I’ll give her that / thank her for that.

Ahh ok thanks

When I was little I remember drawing my own version of what I thought Sarah Ferguson’s dress would look like in school, so we must have had lessons based around that wedding. Horrific, given what we know about those people now.
It’s bread and circuses to keep us all distracted from the real issues, and the younger we start, the better we can be brainwashed.
Celebrity is the new religion, hence it’s best to start indoctrination as young as possible.

The amount of grief TS is getting over this is mad. Not TS and TK. Just TS.

A feminist Facebook page is really laying into her over this. They do have some good points eg the disruption but I am very displeased to see they were aiming it all at TS as if TK has nothing to do with it.

Anyway, I think she is a great roll model. When I saw her in Liverpool, everyone getting off the coaches were so pleasant and considerate. Hundreds of people walking down a street trying to be quiet because it was late and people were sleeping. Then there were 2 groups of drunk men being absolutely obnoxious.

Bagwyllydiart · 04/07/2026 07:06

Why do you think that because you don't understand what she's talking about, she is drunk?

It's fair enough not knowing what she's talking about but just say that and ask for an explanation if you want one. Or scroll on if you don't.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey is getting/has got married at Maddison Square Gardens in New York.

I have a habit of drunk posting (I know), but thank you for the explanation. I will Google the names and discover who they are.

That’s interesting.
I find her music grating and don’t understand how she’s made her billions but equally admire the fact she has.

I don’t follow the news about her but from threads on here, I had thought everyone assumed she was gay. Is that no longer the case?

It seemed like a waste to me as well, but then someone pointed out to me that it's given a lot of work to a lot of people.

And they've donated to local causes.

No doubt they tipped generously too.

As a parent, I actually would like that. She’s taught a phonics lesson, on something the children she’s teaching will find fun and relevant to their interests, particularly little girls. I would imagine most parents would, being that the majority are not fun sponges and find misery in every little thing.

OP, I don’t like TS particularly, her music isn’t my bag, but I’ll enjoy a look at her dress and guest outfits!

VerifiedAccount · 04/07/2026 07:38

I just think she is a young, insanely successful women who gets so much shit thrown at her which seems unfair given that I've never seen anyone who has dealt with her say anything nasty.

Of course, she could be firing all sorts of NDAs and legal threats around behind the scenes to hide how horrible she is. Unless we know her personally, we haven't got a clue.

But there is a huge amount of misogyny and jealously that follows her around. She's called it out in quite a few songs.

I wouldn't say I'm a Swifty but I like quite a few of her songs and will sing along when I hear them.
